Back heeling the ball, when nothing else was on, which is then cleared from the line about 50cms short of a goal is a bit more than cockiness.

Superb improvisation would be my description, and it led directly to a goal.

I'd welcome loads more such cockiness.
Fabulous technique and the guts to try it without having much first team experience was great to see.

My comment of cockiness was due to the fact he'd have been slaughtered if the ball hadn't ended up in the net.Great composure from Clyne with the finish.

Co-commentator getting it spot on - Origi (bearing in mind he's our only striker) not doing enough of the things he should be doing (holding up the ball, making runs INTO the box). Made a few decent runs wide but zero threat. Ibe MUCH better tonight - best game for a long while.

Firmino off for Lallana. I'd have taken Origi off and pushed Firmino forward. Had a great game, hopefully he can do something to Chelsea on Saturday.

Has he played 90 minutes yet?

I felt we would from the start, saw some lovely football, and they all looked to be enjoying themselves. Such a shame that Anfield was so darn quiet - I expected more from them for what was a debut for some.

However, pure class from Firmino and Tex, the rest were all good too!

Clyne comes across very confident in the post match interview. Possible future Captain?

MOTM for me was Firmino. Too many were quick to write him off earlier in the season, but he's proven tonight that he has the talent to be a star. I really hope this is just the beginning for him.

Randall and Brannagan in particular gave good accounts of themselves tonight, and I expect them to get further opportunities in the future depending on who we drawn in the Quarters of this or the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Tex also had flashes of brilliance (that backheel was superb), as did Ibe who had his best game in a long time. And credit to Lovren and Bogdan who I also thought had very good games.

Allen for me was a bit average tonight. I expected more from him as one of the few senior players who plays regularly for us. Origi too needs to do more, he comes in too deep or too wide too often, and not in positions where he could actually threaten the goal. I really hope that once he scores that elusive goal, it'll give him the platform to kick on. Clyne did well enough as an improvised left back, although he didn't look at all comfortable to be there.

Good result but still lack of goals is a worry. We miss a natural goal scorer

No, not yet. He was subbed in the 86th, 87th minute, so close enough. Might've been a good idea to take him off though in case it went into ET, though we could've just subbed him off then.

Glad to get a win. Bournemouth weren't walkovers. Bogdan played well, as he did the last time he played, nice to have a decent 2nd-choice goalkeeper. Defence didn't do too much wrong. Thought the young lads played well, some showed signs of inexperience, as you'd expect. Teixeira in particular impressed me, looked dangerous, looked like he was trying to make a case for more game time, to give Klopp something to think about. Was disappointed not to see Sinclair come on. Had Toure not needed to be subbed for Skrtel or we were still looking for a goal we might have brought him on.

Ibe had one of his best games for us, easily his best game in a while. Him and Firmino played well together. Firmino has been impressive in the bits we've seen of him under Klopp, and tonight he's really come on. Shame he hasn't got a goal, hopefully that'll come soon. Look forward to seeing what he can do against Chelsea.

I agree Michael.

I didn't object to your comment on cockiness as it was spot on. It was cockiness backed up with skill and quick thinking.

We could do with loads more of that.

Jeez what does the man have to do, the number or tackles and interceptions he did, getting possession back. It wouldn't have surprised me if he had got MOM

You don't say.

We miss a scorer of any description, natural or otherwise. Heck, I'd take an unnatural goal scorer...

Fair enough and let's hope there's plenty more in the Klopp era.

What the hell, try Clyne or Skertel up top against Chelsea.

I felt that Klopp took Firmino off with minutes to go purely so he could get that appreciative applause from the fans - to generate even more confidence in him.

Glad he was presented with MOTM, don't think he knew what was going on at first!

Agreed. It's called balance. He's a continuity player who hunt's down and then gives the ball to the likes of Firmino. He got forward selectively too and was unlucky on a couple of occasions.

I agree. I really do feel for Allen, he was the one who Klopp wrapped his arms round most at the end - he'll be aware of all that's been said.

I like Jurgen's physical interaction with the players; shaking hands, putting his arm around shoulders, hugging etc.

Too many managers appear to be a bit stand offish with their players. I think Jurgen's touchy feely approach is a good thing. It must help build bonds between manager and players which is so important in a football club.

I thought Allen played well. His only serious error was when the ball was played to him in the centre circle when he was surrounded by Bournemouth players. He lost the ball and it led to a goal chance for Bournemouth.

That ball should not have been played to him.

Otherwise I thought he had a decent game.

Frankly, I find it hard to find much to criticise about the performance tonight. With more fit strikers I think we could have walked it by 3 goals or more.
