I thought Allen played well. His only serious error was when the ball was played to him in the centre circle when he was surrounded by Bournemouth players. He lost the ball and it led to a goal chance for Bournemouth.

That ball should not have been played to him.

Otherwise I thought he had a decent game.

Frankly, I find it hard to find much to criticise about the performance tonight. With more fit strikers I think we could have walked it by 3 goals or more.
I thought he was fouled there.

Ha ha ha bye bye Utd.

I would rather swap places with them in the PL but well done Boro.

More important that we can get a point or 3 of Chelsea and keep them behind us. Top 4 race could go a long way this season.

Qtr final draw is

Middlesborough v Everton
Southampton v Liverpool
Stoke v Sheffield Wed
Man City v Hull City.

Tough but we can get to the semi's.

We are in the only all PL match, and away. Probably the toughest of all the draws, but, let's go for it. Should have Hendo back by then.

Klopp on Firmino: “He's prepared for this league physically, he is a technician."

Then laughs and adds: “He’s also usually a good finisher”

When I saw the team I was not sure about it - I said that if we get through it will look great and got through we did so

Bournemouth had a pretty strong team out and we had inexperience in a few areas so to win was fantastic - I felt we did not start that well but we grew in confidence as the game went on. Overall the first half was pretty even but we got the goal and in the second half they did not have many meaningful attacks as we were so on top.

Many did well - I'll pick out Bogdan, Tex and Firmino as the pick of the crop but Allen was OK too (and I am not usually a fan) and also Clyne and Ibe. Randell started off shaky but got better and Lucas was good as he has been most games recently. Origi is my biggest concern cos he does not have enough of a presence about him to be a lone striker but as he was our only fit striker he had to play - altho near the end I may have given Sinclair a run as he could not have been any less effective. This is not say I do not think one day he may become a good LFC player but for now he is not really up to it.

Anyway onwards and upwards - CFC next - not a game I am relishing as the 2 soap operas meet (Jose and Jurgen!!) and the media hype will be off the scale. I do believe it is a match we can win for sure tho and to do so would be very enjoyable

I felt that Klopp took Firmino off with minutes to go purely so he could get that appreciative applause from the fans - to generate even more confidence in him.

Glad he was presented with MOTM, don't think he knew what was going on at first!
The champagne award confused him, he didn't know he was allowed to keep it.

I'm happy that Firmino had a good game, you could see the quality he possesses. His weight of pass is excellent.

He got forward selectively too and was unlucky on a couple of occasions.
Can I just ask, in what way?

I'd agree with most of that Alan. Bogdan has had a very good League cup so far, following on from his penalty saves v Carlisle to making 4 very good saves last night. I think he should be getting the EL games too.
Of the 3 youngsters Teixiera stood out most, impressed with him, bar his corners (what is it with us and corner takers lately!). Randall seemed to have his hands full early doors but settled into the game very well, didn't see much from Brannigan to be fair, he needs to cut out the silly shirt pulling at corners routine though.
For me Clyne just pipped Firmino & Bogdan for man of the match. Lucas was very good after coming on again, made some incisive passes too, plus had that "rasper" shot straight at the keeper!
Overall getting through was the task and we completed it, draw could have been kinder (thanks Neil Mellor ha) but still a chance for us to progress.
I'd love Klopp to win a trophy is his 1st season here. I'd also love us to beat Chelsea at the weekend and Klopp can go running to our fans arms open wide screaming Yes Yes as Jose did on beating us in our title challenge year.

He made a couple of very late yet incisive runs - just crowded out in the box on one occasion and fouled just outside the box on the other occasion. He can get forward effectively if let of the leash. Gets a tough tine because his role isn't eye catching.

Just reading about The Devil being at the game last night, he was a big deal I remember watching docs about him.

Will miss the game tomorrow I'll keep stealthily up-to-date via FotMob Pro and hope we can pull something out of the bag. Here's hoping Klopp's right and Benteke is fit as he could be the difference. Not sure whether I want Costa to miss out or not - he can be a genius OR a liability.

We just need to strike the first blow and prey on their current nervous disposition. I think we'll harass a few mistakes out of their defenders so it's vital we're clinical.

Would rather he's out to be honest. Him and Skrtel seem to have a running battle and it detracts from Skrtel's game. Would rather he focused on his defending than trying to get one over Costa and risk giving a penalty or get sent off.

Really fuming that this match is on BT Sport. After several months of trying to ditch them, getting close to wanting to go and smack someone there - finally get rid and hey ho, they seem to be showing most prime matches!

Hope their phone lines blow up and burn...........

Having ditched BT over the summer I've not up to now felt the slightest regret. Actually I'm busy when the game is on so it's not so bad. As an EE customer and BT's buy-out having just been approved I am wondering if I'll end up with BT Sport again in the future but I'll never pay for it.

After tomorrow, we're not on BT Sport again until January when we play West Ham so you're not missing out on much if it's primarily us you're after. We're on Sky Sports four times in the same period.

I can probably pick up the match by 'other' means tomorrow, I refuse to EVER go back to paying for BT, they are hell on earth to ditch and still keep on trying to rip £££'s out of you by threat months after you have told them you quit.

It is only us I am interested in seeing, so thanks for that Promo, a lot less painful than I first thought!

Man Utd fan in peace you have a great manager in Klopp i'm a fan of his slightly jealous as I wanted him at Old Trafford. All in All, in truth L'pool were probably the better fit. Hope Klopp does reasonably well but not too well obviously, peace.

Confirmed #LFC team v @ChelseaFC: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino

Benteke on the bench.

Origi not in the squad but not really surprised considering it would of been his 4th game in just over a week.

Omen maybe? Our GD needs a boost, that'll do it!

Chelsea are playing Costa, not many of our players he hasn't riled, hope Sakho is in charge of him - could be a good fight! j/k.
