Why put a game at 4pm on a Sunday if it's not gong to be televised?

It may not be on TV here but it will be elsewhere in the world so maybe they also do not want to overlap with the earlier game.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullá, we've agreed a deal in principle for Alexandre Pato, worth about £20mil.

Most likely nonsense, but an amusing rumour nevertheless.

I would hope we wouldn't be signing another injury prone centre forward >.>

Rumour is that we have him for £14.5m - but, according to Wiki he is a bit of a busted flush, or has been. He's 26, and was reckoned to be one of the most promising in his youth, but injuries blew all that.

Not sure Klopp would go for him, unless he knew more?

Apparently he hasn't suffered an injury now for over 2 years, so perhaps he's turned a corner in that regard?

Don't know how badly previous injuries have damaged him skillwise though.

A few years ago if we signed him everyone would be made up. Things haven't turned out for him like we thought they would. If anyone can get the best out of him though and revive his career it's Klopp. If we're getting a striker from Italy though I'd rather look elsewhere, someone more reassuring. Maybe Higuain?

According to Wikipedia he scored 38 in 95 for São Paulo, which is roughly 1-in-3. Been on loan there for 2 seasons, hasn't had a great record for Corinthians.

If we get him I'd of course back him, and I trust Klopp's judgement, but I don't really have a great deal of faith in him.

I think it would have been better to hang on and see how he settled at the club playing wise. Now with him being VC (and with Hendo out captain) it is hard to leave him out but really on his play there is a strong case for leaving him out.

What should JK do?

I think he has to look at the bigger picture and say that long term he wants Milner to be a success and so to strip him of the role would effect his morale and be very counter productive to that aim so for now he has to stay. If by the end of the season things still look as they are now then maybe a change should be contemplated with Lucas, Sakho and Skrtel for me the obvious replacement candidates but I think it is not something we should rush into as to keep morale high is very important and for sure JK has raised morale a hundredfold. None of the other candidates to replace him will be knocking the door down to demand the role so for now I think we should leave things be.

What do others think?”

The 3 names you mention would be my picks. Sakho, Lucas the main 2 for me. Both have been excellent under Klopp, both seem to love LFC and have a passion for the club. Moreno has already said Lucas passes on Klopps messages to him & Firmino etc.

Milner should not have been brought in and made VC immediately, shouldn't be the way. Not sure Hendo for me is captain material either.

Rodgers could be in the Chelsea dugout next time we play them

Who would you drop to fit in Pato? Sturridge, Benteke, or Ings? (providing they were all fit.)

When Benteke, Sturridge and Ings are fit it's a selection headache as it is. To include Pato in that makes it quite difficult. Ideally they'd be rotated but someone has to be an actual starter, but if we're going with one up front then it's obviously between Sturridge and Benteke. Ings and Origi are behind them, but recent injury aside Klopp will learn to love Ings because he has the workrate that Klopp loves.

I don't think we'll be getting Pato. I hope not, anyway. If we signed him I'd obviously back him, and I trust Klopp's judgement, as I have said before, but I don't actually want him. His 1-in-3 for Sao Paulo is good but the Brazillian league is nothing. We can do a lot better, I think.

I tend to agree but the problem is as I said in the first post that to strip JM of the vice captaincy could be counter productive so I would probably wait a while and see how things go before making any change.

I smile to myself about all the exclusives on who JK is going to sign in January cos the truth is that nobody really knows and I suspect that even includes JK himself as he is still evaluating the players we have got. The 2 good things are that he will have a wide knowledge of players from all over Europe and especially Germany and that many will want to come to play under him at LFC. This should mean we recruit well.

Pato? - well it is clear that we are still not convincing in terms of scoring goals - so on top on Thursday and yet only one goal ahead which led to a slightly anxious last 10 minutes so a striker could be useful. Pre injury many saw Ings on the effort he was putting in and the form he was showing as worthy of consideration of being a starter but now it seems some say he has fallen behind Sturridge and Benteke. Maybe it is not so much a striker we need but more effective midfield players who get in the box and score more who knows. All I do know is that I trust JK to analyse things and to bring in people who can make us a better team to play the full throttle way he wants and I will leave it up to his judgement.

bib: Agree 100% that Klopp will be fully aware of what he needs when he's ready, and will buy and sell accordingly. Klopps name and reputation will add another dimension to the quality we can expect to see coming in too, and could even remove that *pay the most, give the most* ethic that is the bane in the game just now.

He, like Mourino still is to a degree, is the magnet that players will want to learn from and play for, a totally different fish to Rodgers.

I don't expect him to win every match, but I do expect to see some exciting, fast football with players fighting to give their all - so far, so good!

As with regards to Milner, a lot depends on what is currently in his contract, but I do expect that Klopp is looking into that, and for me, Lucas should be VC, he's come alive under Klopp. Actually scrub that - who hasn't come alive under him? Milner alone I think, and that's down to his lack of pace more than anything.

Kuyt just gave a nice little assist for Feyenoord against Ajax.

Thanks, Brendan!

Palace could prove a difficult test today, they press well, and counter well. It's one of those games that's either going to be 0-0 or high scoring.

I'd take a 1-0 win if you offered it to me now.

I still think Kuyt going was one of the daftest moves ever made at the time. He was our workhorse and duracell bunny all rolled into one. Never stopped, never gave up, Klopp would have loved him in his prime!

I'm not moaning, just mentioning the assist, the thanks Brendan bit was just a little bit on the side. I didn't want him gone and I still don't but I'm not moaning about it. Maybe you should let it go.
