I hate to put a spoiler on it but I just hope we don't do the usual old Liverpool thing we've been doing for years on the back of an excellent result like this and that is go out and get beat next home game which is Bordeaux then Swansea both at home.

The truth is the way we play is only as effective as yesterday if the other team are pushing forward - and when teams sit back we've struggled to break them down due to our recent striker woes. Luckily, Swansea aren't built to defend deep and things are starting to ease up on the injury front, so I'm hoping for a positive result.

I always had a modicum of respect for Pellegrini, but that has flown right out of the window after this match.

Pellegrini angry at 'disastrous' defeat
"It was a complete disaster, the whole team," said Pellegrini.
"I am more than angry. It is unbelievable the performance we had.
Pellegrini claims it was a 'fake' Manchester City performance.

Not once has he stated - as much of the rest of the football world have - that they were beaten by a better team on the day, all he can do is moan about how badly his team played. That is a poor loser imo, get off your high horse and be man enough to admit you were well and truly beaten by a team you thought you were going to walk all over.

What's wrong with him criticising his own team? At least he didn't do a Mourinho and say the better team lost. I think it's fair enough, his comments.

I see Shelvey is suspended for next week's game.

Picking Yaya Toure and Mangala against a pressing and technical Liverpool side was his mistake - Yaya's never coped well against such tactics and the manager was takibg a risk setting the team up like he did. He probably felt let down but it was the usual sudpects that let him down so he has to be accountable.

Pelligrini said nothing wrong here.

Lucas is suspended for us. Probably see Joe Allen start against his old club!

How close is Henderson to playing I wonder?

Henderson should be back by then, but at least we can freely use Lucas on Thursday. Can is a decent replacement for Lucas anyway, just a slight bit of manoeuvring and we should still be fine. Lucas plays in a position where cards are rampant, as soon he got this out of the way now as Can is close to having a missed match too I think?

Think Can got his 4th yellow yesterday so yes he'll be facing a suspension soon too.

As for Lucas, Swansea at home is not the worst game to miss so its not too bad.

Klopp said on Friday that Hendo would be back in full training with the rest of the team "next week", so it's tough to say whether he'll be ready to start against Swansea. Hopefully a spot on the bench at least.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Klopp utilises him. He's been such an important player for us over the past year or two with his ability to see and play a killer pass. We've missed that recently when teams have sat back against us.

That may probably work in Swansea's favour anyway. Can't remember him having a good game against his old club tbh.

Yep, part of me is disappointed as he got so up for these gamrs you never knew what he'd do next - score, red card, Hollywood pass or giveaway...

He clearly wanted to stick it to Brendan - He might be less up for it against Klopp

It (where and how to use Hendo) is a dilemma - and I think he may have to 'wait his turn' as
1) Those in the team now are doing so well that it is hard to know who to drop
2) To me Hendo is not some sort of superstar that can just walk back into the team, yes he is decent, he has a good attitude and I can accept him being captain but I do not recall him being that good at the end of last season V MUFC, AFC, AVFC, CPFC and SCFC when we were disastrous and he was our 'leader' (someone will tell me he did not play in some of those games now - misses the point even if true - he played in moist of them).
and
3) He may take some time to get up to match fitness that he would be best used as a sub to begin with anyway.

There are many other selection dilemmas for JK - good ones tho!! - as the team is doing well on the whole now but we have others who will soon be able to challenge for places.

Play a striker? Play 2 strikers? Or use yesterdays formation? Are there teams where it may be a good idea to start Ibe as he is the only real winger we have? I think it will depend on if we are home or away and who the opposition are - I am not clever enough to assess it tactically but I hope JK is and I trust his judgment 100%

CB is a bit of a problem maybe. I am not a Lovren fan but do admit he did well yesterday but I want to see more than one good display before I will say he will satisfy me. Effectively we seem to only have 3 viable options unless you count Kolo with us having sold many options in the last year or two - Agger, Coates, Illori is on loan, as is Wisdom, Gomez is injured and even Glen was an option but he has gone too. I think another CB would maybe be a good idea in January.

Finally, we have a manager who presses from the front and continues aggressively throughout the game, makes a difference from the usual two banks of 4 we've had to endure for so long!!

I see where you're coming from, but, you have to bear in mind what Klopp has managed to do with just about every player he has worked with so far. Imagine what he can do with Henderson?

Klopp won't play anyone unless he is 100% sure they are up and ready to do his bidding - captain or not, he will stick by his guns. Henderson will be more than ready to put in every ounce of effort to do his bidding, he is desperate to get back playing - and he will be. Who will be dropped is an issue only Klopp can deal with, but he will always follow his head - he has no favourites and no rites of passage, and all players know this.

Even when 3-0 up I was still worried, in fact at 4-1 with 10 minutes to go I still had to wait until the final whistle before I allowed myself to accept us winning.

What have you done to me, Liverpool?!

You need to do what I did. Watch it again, now, it's a whole different match. It came on TV last night, as I was in a sleepless phase, and nothing else on, I thought it might send me to sleep. Quite the opposite, I became engrossed in loving every pass and move we made, actually appreciated and enjoyed the whole match on another level.

Way better than hiding your eyes and living in fear of that 'turnover' we had come to expect! We played some brilliant stuff I barely noticed through my fear when it was live...

You need to start believing.

Klopp's comments about the players being surprised to be 3-1 at half time and how wants to eradicate that sense of shock were very good.

Right now our form and performances are well ahead of our self-belief and confidence. That's probably true across the squad and fan base. The after effects of the 13/14 season are still haunting us and if Klopp can exorcise our demons from that experience and the general sad resignation most of us have about Liverpool FC's potential then who knows what we can achieve.

So much of the sport is about belief. Compare and contrast the standing of Chelsea and Leicester. Arguably one should be topping the table and one should be near the bottom... but not in the order they are today. How much of that is down to the managers (the irony of who the current managers are is quite delicious) or players and how much is down to basic confidence and belief? How much of our revival under Klopp is down to his innate ability as a manager and how much is down to the players' lack of belief in Rodgers at the end?

The very good news today is that Coutinho just has a strain on his hamstring, nothing more serious. He probably won't play Thursday, but will be fine for Sunday v Swansea.
