They gave him the hefty wage increase after the brilliant season with Suarez when we finished PL runners up. Silly looking back as he still had a fair bit of his original contract to run, we rushed that some what me thinks. Barely kicked a ball in anger since he got that big bumper pay rise
![]() I don't on this one. What the hell is he doing holding onto the ball for 22 seconds when we are nil nil at home to Bordeaux after about 30 odd mins. We should be injecting pace into our game at such a stage not behaving as if we are in the final few mins holding a lead over the opposition. I have no idea what he was thinking! Anyhow, a win is a win and we are through so happy overall. Need to beat Swansea on Sunday though, pretty important we start moving up that table. on paper winnable games to come. (disclaimer - on paper!) |

Did you ever think that maybe, he was trying to ensure we kept the ball and none of the outfield players were making themselves available or making suitable runs. I don't know if that was the case but it's easy to criticise without knowing the facts. He also earned us the 3 points with a late save.

Further to my comment 3519, this has been said today by Klopp on Sturridge -
“You have to learn what is serious pain and what is only pain". Easy to read what he's saying there, not going to be easy to get through though! Because that's how I'm interpreting it. |

So are we interpreting this to mean that Sturridge may not actually be injured, and Klopp is basically telling him to "man up".
Because that's how I'm interpreting it. "Grow a pair." |

What Mignolet did was very niave but you are right it's up to players to show for the ball.
Tbh I do not buy this 'the ref was awful' line from Thursday - OK maybe I am biased as I am a ref but he got all the biggest decisions right (Mig, the pen and the 2 disallowed goals) and the complaints were mainly that he gave unwarranted free kicks against us. Yes maybe some were harsh but most of them I could see why he gave it. Ibe too did a clear foul and then got a yellow for kicking the ball away - stupid!! - yes I know he was frustrated as we had so little of the ball in the second half but he needs to eliminate that from his game. Allen gave a lot of free kicks away and I feared a yellow for persistent - the kind Lucas gets a lot.. I would not be too critical of that as that is what happens when you play the defensive midfield role tho - rarely are they that deliberate it is just a case of arriving a split second late and the ref sees it as a yellow. Ironically Lucas fouled a lot less on Thursday but still got a yellow for just such a challenge. |

Hopefully Sturridge won't get injured walking from the coach to the dressing room.

delighted to see Henderson back on the bench. More so than Sturridge if I'm being honest. We've missed him badly.

![]() OK-ish first half, we were decent enough I suppose. Playing some lovely stuff in the middle of the park, but lacking a decisive, final ball. Missing Coutinho perhaps? Looking like Sturridge and Henderson might be needing to come on after all, perhaps for Milner and Ibe who have been largely ineffective. Although Ibe did have that one opportunity where he was through 1v1, but a bad 2nd touch let him down hugely there. Defence relatively untroubled which is nice. Lovren looks like a completely different player. |

Lacking a cutting edge in the final third yet again. Firmino shouldn't be stuck out on the left.

Packed defence frustrating us again. We need someone to come up with a Coutinho-like strike from 20 yards!

Looked like a goal was going to come at one point, then it seemed to peter out.
