What is this? It's not like us to buy duds... LINK.
For anybody who has been watching on Premier Sports, you should be well aware of how distinctly average this guy has looked. |

My only advice would be, be grateful you don't have Newcastle's attack
![]() And try not to base your views on this guy on one game! |

For anybody who has been watching on Premier Sports, you should be well aware of how distinctly average this guy has looked. Coutinho was a bit shit for Inter before he came here too if I recall. Sturridge couldn't hack it at City or Chelsea apparantly. And let's not even get started on how 'distinctly average' Luis Suarez was during his first half season for us, when he initially struggled. Get a grip lad. |

Firmino had a quiet game while being played out of position? I bet LFC fans everywhere are experiencing buyer's remorse today.

I wonder what that headline would have said if he'd have signed for Man Utd or Chelsea.
Why do the media (and pretty much every football fan too) seem to be so against us? And why do I care so much if they are against us? I normally judge players by FIFA, so a game last night as Hoffenheim convinced me that he is a great player! sadly, I am not a great player and lost 3-0

Strong rumours of Clyne having his medical tomorrow. It seems that's another deal very close to being finalised; £10.5m to start plus £2m in add-ons. ( that has actually worked out quite a decent deal, another pat on the back for Ayre)

I can't help but get overexcited when I see him linked with us. Imagine taking £50m (or £40m after QPR's cut) of City's money for Sterling and spending it on Firmino and Lacazette.
![]() I am generally liking the way the window is going but there does seem an element of scatter gun approach to it - we see a good player, we sign them and do not totally think how he will fit in to the squad or team. I think those who have come in so far are good but I worry over some of the ones who we see linked - lets hope a lot of it is just paper talk as we do not seem to be targeting the right areas which for me are striker and maybe experienced CB back up cover for when Skrtel and Sakho cannot play - but striker is the key one for sure - Lacazette seems to tick all the boxes (as Bacca would have done). The prospect of Benteke underwhelms me as I just do not see him as a person to lift an underperforming team and that is what we are asking any striker signing to do. He would also be overpriced and Villa do not seem to want to reduce that - and why should they, he is their key asset and they do not want to sell.. I dislike Jose but you have to admire his transfer dealings around last summer which changed CFC from also rans to clear PL favourites before the season started who were in pole position all season and duly won the title - Matic, Costa and Fabregas in and Courtois back from loan to become the number one with the sales of Luiz and Lukaku largely funding it. He saw what they needed, identified the players who would do it and got them - and you could not even accuse them as using their financial muscle to do it as the sales funded the buys. Without Courtois and those 3 buys there is no way CFC would have won the PL. We will hopefully get 50m when he who I will not mention is sold - lets hope we use it to get in people who will further transform our prospects. I like what we have done so far but without further buys I cannot see us getting into the top 4 which has to be the aim though I will always hope and dream of us overachieving - what I do feel is that of all the clubs outside of last seasons top 4 we are the ones with the best hope of getting into it next time. |

There has always been an element of "Ready, Steady, Cook!" about our transfer policy, especially when we have money to spend. We buy players who seem to be good and then try to work out how to fit them into a team rather than identify and weakness in the team/squad and only then target the right players.
Whilst I like the players we are going after and getting so far this summer I am a bit worried we're making the same mistakes again. Too many new players who will take time to fit in. We've an incredibly tough start to the season so there will be no time settle into things. |

I don't see the scatter gun. Seems to me we have signed players who were needed and most will go straight into the team. Milner will go straight in, Clyne will go straight in, Firmino will go straight in, Ings will play or be used as the matchday squad depending on the system.

A possible starting line-up for start of season:
(4411 diamond) Mingolet Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno Illarramendi (?) Henderson, Coutinho, Milner Firmino An.Other ( Lacazette, Llorente, Rondon, Benteke...???) subs: Bogdan, Can, Lovren, Allen, Ibe, Lallana, Ings) |

Telegraph reporting Liverpool want Hernandez from Man Utd. Highly unlikely to happen, but I'd take him at the right money.

Roy Evans has been quoted as saying he thinks the Sterling deal has been agreed already hence the money being spent..
I have a feeling he's right. |

Bobby Adekanye, one of the young players affected by the sanction imposed on Barcelona by FIFA, has grown tired of waiting and will leave the club's academy. The 16-year-old Dutch-Nigerian winger was one of the players who FIFA deemed Barça signed outside the rules, so he has been on loan with PSV Eindhoven in Holland, waiting for a solution to FIFA's sanction. However, with no solution in sights, Bobby Adekanye, who participated with Alejandro Viedma in the opening of the new Masia in Sant Joan Despi, has decided to look for a home somewhere else. According to Catalunya Radio, that new home will be with Premier League side Liverpool. Barça will not ask for any compensation either, as they want to thank the teenager for the years he has given the club during this difficult period. Born in Nigeria, Bobby moved to Holland when he was four to live in Amsterdam with his family. He arrived in Barcelona in 2011 after spending time with Ajax Amsterdam. Now 16, he would have been able to begin playing again for Barça in January, but it appears he has decided not to wait until then. Quote:

A very limited player don't you think? He cant play outside the box, doesn't link well with other players and is he really going to go to another side where his fighting to get in the team?

So how much stock do you guys think is in the Illaramendi rumours? There's no real substantial source claiming that a deal is close, but a lot of reds are running with it, most notably Redmen TV.

I'm glad to see us linked with a mobile defensive midfielder, so hopefully it happens. There's a good player in there somewhere.

Delighted with all the signings so far - no question that we are making substantial progress.
But it seems as if 90% of new resources are going into midfield / attack - is enough resource being put into defence? Goalkeeper is an absolutely critical position - Mignolet was much improved in the 2nd half of last season but I doubt many people would put him on a par with Courtois, Cech, De Gea, Hart or Lloris. Can we afford to have a keeper not in that league - I know Cech didn't want to leave London but it would be worth spending more on a top keeper rather than another midfielder who may not actually play that much. And is a back four of Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno good enough given how often Sakho is injured and doubts over Moreno? Are we making do with Moreno on the basis that Flanagan is the long term plan? |

I tend to agree however if I was to ask to name 3 keepers on that level could you? I dont think its easy to go and find a keeper on that level who is avaliable to buy.

I certainly wouldn't want Flanagan on the left either. He did a job there a couple of seasons ago, but I very much want him on the right hand side in the future, rotating with Clyne and Manquillo (who I doubt we'll keep on beyond his loan tbh). |
