Nice to see a 2nd official doing their job for once, but why we've contrived to make this so difficult for ourselves is beyond me. WBA have been extremely poor, and are only threatening us on set pieces.

Same old same old. Where did the team go that beat City and Chelsea or was that just fluke?

Gutted for Lovren, just as he was finding some form. His second major injury this season.

With Sakho out too this is not looking good at all

That could be another cruciate ligament injury with Lovren. That's all three left sided CB's crocked.

Bad miss from Lallana.

We really miss Sakho and his ability to pass through the lines.

Milner while very industrious his passing is erratic.

One thing this side needs is a deep sitting play maker.

We have average players, and average players gets you average results, no surprise really, the only surprise is when we beat the like of Chelsea and City with their world class players. Some folk will argue they are not average players, when we compare this crop to say the Champions League winning side of 2005 or the Liverpool of the 80's they are very average players and will never win very much.

At the end of the day, when all's said and done, it's about the lads on the pitch. If you don't score goals, you're not going to win games. If they're not giving it 110%, that won't happen.

The 2005 side was pretty damn average

I knew that fans were getting too excited about our chances. All the claims that the team didn't need much strengthening and how we could do this and that... and now as the results aren't as hoped... we suddenly only have average players.

Stop knee-jerking.

Fingers crossed the season turns out well, but this isn't the season to judge too much. Let's see what happens in January, and more importantly... the summer.

...oh, and it could be worse...

We could be Chelsea.

Hard to believe we're losing this game. We could have been 3-0 up after half an hour. The confidence still just drains out this side.

At least Spurs have lost at home to Newcastle.

Small consolation.
