There is. ( or at least there is, if I've read and understood the article correctly) . It's just that nobody wants to moan about being in the CL and picking up the money that brings.

So the Wednesday-Saturday is statistically worse.
The researchers off a remedy:

Yeah, good luck with that one.
What the FA could look at is allowing the teams playing away on a Wednesday to play Sunday, and the teams playing away on a Thursday to have a Monday night game.
