Call it what you want but the stats always seem to suggest it has an effect.

Why is there never any effect when you play Wednesday then Saturday same difference
Now I'm not using it as an excuse as regardless the team should be able to win a home game after Europa League but I think it's very niave to think the Thursday - Sunday congestion isn't an issue. How did Gardner stay on the pitch. Horrific tackle!!! |

From the article: Quote:
In terms of league points lost, teams playing on the Saturday following a Wednesday night Champions League fixture were found to reap 0.55 points less than average, and teams playing on Sunday following a Thursday night Europa League match were 0.41 points per game worse off.
So the Wednesday-Saturday is statistically worse. The researchers off a remedy: Quote:
To restore fair play, Verheijen, is calling upon national leagues, associations and international federations to make a three-day gap between matches mandatory in all fixture scheduling.
Yeah, good luck with that one. What the FA could look at is allowing the teams playing away on a Wednesday to play Sunday, and the teams playing away on a Thursday to have a Monday night game. |

toure should be play CB for now before we move Can into the backline.
we desperately miss sakho thats for sure. Look a different side when he is not in the team. Like having an extra play maker in the side. nobody else in the team can get the ball into midfield quickly and precisely. I'm sure I read Sakho was hopeful of making a comeback before the New Year. |

Yes, but alot of games in a short space of time to keep playing Toure.
I'm sure I read Sakho was hopeful of making a comeback before the New Year. As an aside, I really do hope Lovren will be OK, that was nasty, and he's been playing a lot better recently too. |

The meltdown online when the side doesn't win is embarrassing. I really do think some people expected Klopp to come in and win 6-1 every week and go on to win the title.

Our record in all competitions under Klopp so far is played 14 won 7 drawn 5 lost 2, which in the league would be CL qualifying form, in the PL though it's played 7 won 3 drawn 3 lost 2, which is higher mid table form, we need to start winning home matches against opposition we should be beating, otherwise the CL and maybe even the EL will just be a dream.

You are getting carried away with high expectations and ideas of entitlement. The consistency of teams this year shows that no game is a dead cert. All this talk of teams you should be beating is frankly disrespectful to teams such as Newcastle and West Brom where I guess you thought you would have gained 6 easy points. Beating City and Chelsea seems to have given you delusions of grandeur which is blinding a lot of fans from the inadequacies of your overall squad.
Based on the position of some of the teams we've dropped points against, most people would have expected us to win those games, our defeat at Newcastle last week didn't really surprise me though, I was half expecting it. |

I was there today which was a treat for me - my first PL game of the season. I have seen worse displays so in that sense I was happy and it was not dull as many games are but really we should be winning this type of game. BTW supertalk that is not getting carried away - Pulis himself said as much - given our resources and WBAs they shouldn't be able to compete with us that is the point. The truth is that we have expensive players not playing at the level they should be - and yes we are not the only so called 'bigger' team that that is true of.
I admit I am not a fan of Pulis teams - little flair, very physical, concentrate on set plays as their main attacking threat, use 'the dark arts' as Gary Neville called them at set plays a lot, time (i.e. foul opponents unseen by the ref as they follow the ball and these fouls are off the ball) waste time a lot....etc and all that was in evidence today. But if you are a WBA fan I bet you are happy and why not I don't blame you as it gets you results. Many teams will come to Anfield and set up this way and we have to learn to win such games. What to say about Klopp, individual players, tactics ...etc? - for me we lack the guile needed at times - Coutinho was easily the most likely to do something along with Lallana a bit but he always looks lightweight. Hendo did OK, Lovren was good until the injury and I liked Origi when he came on. Big question marks are Mignolet and Benteke but like Klopp I do not think we ditch either yet. As a Lucas fan I also did not like him being left out but I am sure he will play again soon - maybe he did not want to play a DM in a home fixture against a lesser team? |

One thing about the WBA second goal was that was a fantastic delivery. sometimes the delivery will be that good that you will concede from a set piece.

I feel like the honeymoon is over in the last week, I am not doubting klopp as a top class manager, The good feeling that emanated from him signing has done wonders, I just want him to let lose now signing who he needs to make his mark and build upon this team with his own brand of football.

We didn't get a honeymoon period. It took a few games for us to get our first win. There was no new manager bounce.

I'd still rather have him than anyone else, we have a horrific schedule coming up, a few too many injuries to cope with, and some players just not performing.
I trust him to get the best from all that - good luck Klopp! |

Gardner got to the ball first and played it cleanly. It was just bad luck that his follow through caught Lovren. Not even a yellow in my opinion. These things happen in football and I don't blame Gardner. Skrtel's earlier tackle was worse and he was lucky he didn't make contact with the player or he could have seen a red card. I hope Lovren recovers quickly. |

Didn't think I'd be saying this a couple months ago but we're going to miss Lovren while he's out. He's become a different player under Klopp. I don't fancy having to rely on Toure this month. Klopp might put Can in CB, or maybe even Clyne, or someone from the reserves. Could've done with Andre Wisdom.

he has done okay since he got back into the team so will give him credit for that. |

I have to say I'm really surprised by how tolerant Liverpool fans are towards Daniel Sturridge and his never-ending list of injuries. I think at some point, Klopp will just explode and say "enough is enough!". All players get injured, but this is really beyond ridiculous and not fair towards the club.
When Thomas Strunz played 10 games in two years for Bayern because of his endless injuries, this is what then-coach Trapattoni had to say... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqp64q7kHmw and that's why Trapattoni will remain forever a fan- and management-favourite at Bayern. |

BBC Sport just posted something on Facebook about Klopp having the players bow to the fans, apparently there are mixed reactions with people thinking we were celebrating the point. Except he's just showing the fans they're appreciated, he did it at Dortmund.
Sort your journalism out, BBC. |

Benteke will be lucky to start the next game I think. His too static for me.
I like that Henderson shows for the ball a lot more now but not convinced his got the quality to do things with the ball we need. His got some fantastic attributes but we really need a top quality ball playing midfielder. An Alonso, modric, busquets type of player. Yes very hard to find a player among that class of player but we need that type of player badly. |

Of course we'll tolerate him, because when he's fit he adds so much to the team, and he's the sort of striker that any club would want. Arsenal didn't sack off Van Persie who had a similar injury record... |
