I disagree wholeheartedly re Butland. I rate the lad REALLY highly and I think he has all the tools to be an excellent keeper. I'd be thrilled if we got him.

We've seen in previous seasons what Benteke is capable of, Origi is still learning, but showing promise, Ings looked good up until his injury, and Sturridge, well, we seem to see that dance of his an awful lot.

I don't think it's fair to write off our strikers so quickly.

I like Butland too, and I'd have gone for him rather than Bogdan, nothing against the lad, but he'd have pushed Migs more...and I think he'll be a very good keeper in his prime.

After being linked with everyone from the Bundesliga, we're now getting linked to Shinji Kagawa, who's recently given praise to Klopp, and has kept tabs on Liverpool and has watched some of our games since Klopp's taken over.

From Empire of the Kop:

Quote:
“Shinji Kagawa has heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp and the German’s new club Liverpool, as countless of his former Borussia Dortmund players have done already this season.

It seems all of Klopp’s ex-players have huge admiration for their former manager, and it’d be more of a surprise if a player came out against our much-loved coach.

“I am interested in how much and how quickly Klopp, the manager that I know, can change the team at Liverpool,” Kagawa told Omnisport, cited in the Echo.

“He is a great coach and the results prove it, so I hope it will continue for him and I am interested in how much they can contend as a team this season.

“Already they have drastically changed and I have read articles that they won eight games in the last 10 games [seven in 11]. I do watch the games sometimes when I have time or when they broadcast on TV.”

“Every moment with him is a good memory for me rather than picking a particular one up. It is also good memory to win the titles with him,” Kagawa added.

“He trusted and featured me. I was not famous coming from the second division of the J.League, so I totally appreciate that. It is great memories with him.

“He helped me to build up the steps leading to Manchester United, the club that everyone all over the world knows, the club that I have known since a little kid, in only two years after I joined from Cerezo.”

Klopp brought Kagawa to Germany from the J-League, and quickly turned him into a European renowned playmaker. In two seasons, the Japanese won consecutive titles and earned a bumper move to Manchester United.

He was mismanaged by our bitter rivals, and Klopp once famously spoke about how they were wasting his talent.

“Shinji Kagawa is one of the best players in the world and he now plays 20 minutes at Manchester United – on the left wing,” he told the Telegraph in 2013.

“My heart breaks. Really, I have tears in my eyes. Central midfield is Shinji’s best role. He’s an offensive midfielder with one of the best noses for goal I ever saw.”

Kagawa’s now back in Germany and doing well in a central position for Dortmund, who signed him back off United in the summer. In 14 Bundesliga stars he’s contributed four goals and six assists.

His quotes will no doubt see transfer rumours arrive, but Liverpool already have Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino – not to mention Joao Teixeira – who are all very similar to the Japanese.”

As much as I love the prospect of us having Evil Kagawa posting about Liverpool more often, I don't see this one working. We already have 3 no. 10s. It's one area where we don't need improving, and at United while he wasn't used to his best abilities, his lack of flexibility was a bit of a downside. Seems if he wasn't in his preferred role he couldn't provide what was needed. I wouldn't exactly complain if we did get him, despite his Man United past but it's not an area we need to strengthen.

Anyone know anything about this lad?

So, we get Hendo back fit, and then lose Milner, Lovren out for a short while, but they say Sakho may be fit to play.

Always seems to be one in, one out!

No, but looks like a very promising attacking midfielder who can link midfield and attack with a good passing range but can also run with the ball. At 19, his assist/goal ststs are likely to imptove similarly to Stevie G at thst age (lots of similarities in the attacking sense). Definitely worth a punt and the type of all-round player we lack.

I am not anti Butland - he is a decent keeper but to me he is about at the same level as Mignolet - namely just below the top level and if we sign players who are just below the top level that is what we will end up - and I want us to be at the top level so would like us to get better than Butland if we signed a new keeper.

When MUFC got Van der Sar, CFC got Courtois, AFC got Cech ...etc you knew they were getting a keeper who could gain them maybe 15 points in the season - that is the type of keeper I want. I cannot suggest a name but I want JK and the signings team so scour the world and come up with our keeper for the next 10 years - he's out there somewhere!!

With 19 year old Jerome Sinclair's contract expiring at the end of the season, with him not liking the contract he was being offered, the little genius has gone and hired Aidy Ward as his agent. That's the end of his Liverpool career.

I doubt he will be getting into LFC team anytime soon though, too many still young ahead of him, so maybe he's doing right for himself. He's been after leaving for a while, and even a step down will be better for him than constantly going out on loan.

Apart from the Ward thing, really can't blame him.

Please no!! This lad is a must keep one. He is exceptionally good for his age, and scouse through and through. Klopp knows this, he uses him - get it sorted, and fast. Losing Rossiter to me would be like losing Flanno - must keeps at any cost. City & Spurs can do one!

Tough one tomorrow, Watford.

Seems Mignolet's picked up a hamstring injury and will miss the Watford game. Don't know how long he'll be out, but it's a good opportunity for Bogdan to give Mignolet something to think about. It was this time last season that he got dropped for Brad Jones and he went on that run. This time he isn't being dropped but Bogdan is a better goalkeeper than Brad Jones so could push Mignolet a bit.

How's your goalkeeper situation? We could do with Danny Ward again next season, especially on the off chance that we do win the league.

Confirmed team v Watford:
Bogdan/ Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno//Lucas, Hnederson, Can// Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino

subs: Fulton, Randall, Toure, Allen, Ibe, Benteke, Origi.

Good to have Sakho back, just hope he's fully recovered and fit enough not to get injured again.

I'm never sure about playing three #10's and no CF.

...and long may it continue to work like that!

As I've said before, I'm far too old school and I always like to look for two proper strikers.

Well he's already scored twice as many goals as Lambert despite being injured for approximately 2 months.

So no, basically.

Trouble is, most trams play with 2 defensive central midfueldets or three central midfielders so playing two strikers is a risk against most teams as it leaves the team lighter in midfield. Football's moved on from 4-4-2 - for now.

Benteke hasn't been great but I wouldn't put him on Lambert's level. Pretty sure you were one of the very few who screamed for him to play every week when he was at Liverpool. lambert was clearly out of his depth though and didn't deserve to play.

Benteke doesn't deserve to play this week as he was poor vs West Brom

So Mignolet to start against Leicester, yes?

We need to shop for a new keeper in January.

Oh my god. Shall we try Ryan Fulton now then?

Referee helped them in the build up too.

Benteke doesn't press enough for Klopp's liking but has been scoring goals. Lambert wasn't even doing that.
