No, I described one goal, illustrating that in that instance Benteke demonstrated a typical striker's awareness of where space is. What riled some on here is that it was unfairly used to bemoan Benteke's lack of movement - this was one occasion where using that accusation was spectacularly misplaced.
It is undoubtedly true that Benteke needs to adapt to Klopp's style of play but it is no less true that we also have to play to his strengths more. Pressing is one area Benteke needs to improve on if he is to start more games.
To call Benteke a player best suited to mo-table aspiration is way off the mark. He is easily a top six player as his Premier League goals record testifies - almost one in two over a sustained period. He is, however, a confidence player so is prone to the occasional barren spell and this won't be helped if in and out of the side.
Benteke has scored enough highly technical goals to prove he has the talent to succeed at Liverpool but both he and the club need to adapt to each other to make that happen. I can't understand why Balotelli is labelled a flawed genius with even less movement and output whilst Benteke is dismissed as a mid table player at best with a much more creditable goal return.
If we progress and ultimately return to the CL, I'm sure we'll upgrade our striking options but as it stands Benteke is perfectly capable of doing a job for us as long as he gets some help in sharing the goals burden. Sturridge's rumoured return will help and/or Klopp may buy/loan in January (especially if Origi's injury is a medium term one).
Anyway, on to Wednesday - really hoping we can put two wins together, we need to put pressure on rivals for those European places.
