Wednesday-Saturday is a normal gap - no different to if we had a midweek European/cup tie and the Hammers did not. Rather that than risking injury or having to rest key players by playing Saturday-Monday, especially as our game is based on high energy.
And then 3 days to the league cup game and then 3 to the FA cup game. Doesn't seem such a kind schedule to me...

Last season Lallana could barely play 60 minutes, and he had injury issues. Now he's playing 90 minutes quite regularly, works hard and doesn't seem to get injured (don't jinx it, Munch!).

Now all he needs to do is do something with those nice tricks of his.

He's the latest that many fans are calling 'useless' and 'waste of space' etc. Keep it up, did the same with Lucas, Sakho, Lovren, Couts, Hendo et al, and they are now way better.

Though frankly, I don't think Lallana deserves all the flack he gets.

Nah, he doesn't. I mean I can understand the criticism for him not providing enough assists and goals but he's playing well, putting in the work, the rest will come in time. He's playing much better now than under Brendan, and Klopp clearly likes him, which has to tell you something.

Besides, his Lallana-turn is cool.

Not sure how he's playing well if I'm honest. He works hard but I think you need to do a little more than that when you're a £25m attacking player. Other players like Firmino deserve patience because he's come from a different league but Lallana has spent all of his career in England and is pushing 28. What we're seeing now is pretty much his peak.

He'll have a good game soon and people will get all giddy and claim he's "shutting up the haters" like the last time he played well (a good 2 or 3 months ago). If he could actually put a string of good performances together where he regularly creates chances and opens defences up I'd be delighted. I'm not even overly fussed about goals and assists but he has to be at least making things happen in the final third if he's supposed to be a number 10.

I'm not even one for picking on our players. I backed all those mentioned in Orch's post except Lucas who was obviously never going to make it as an attacking midfielder.

It's all about end product - if our central/attacking midfielders scored theirs fair share of goals, we'd probably be winning games more easily and frequently. Not too Manx assists either despite his obvious quality. We about rely on Coutinho to be the focal points every game as he simply doesn't perform consistently enough and we meed others today chip in. Since we lost Sterling's pace and Gerrard's range of passing, our attacking players aren't getting the space as often. Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana are all too similar and the latter two aren't producing often enough to justify that. We need Sturridge's zip, Ibe's direct running or for Klopp to freshen things us in January with someone win offers more consistency or something different. We couldn't do with a sharper edge by the time ye host Arsenal and United.

On the subject of Lallana, I think some are far too harsh. As Munch said, Lallana has had his fitness issues, but you can see the improvement under Klopp in his play. Give him time, he'll come good.

He's like Allen, he goes about his job quietly, and I feel effectively. Sure, he could do with providing more assists, but Coutinho is often the focal point for the team, so the play won't always go through Lallana.

If Payet is back and firing on all cylinders, it could be a tough game. I'd settle for a win by any score, I'd even take another boring 1-0.

With teams this season being so inconsistent we really need a good second half of the season to kick on.

Champions league football, with Klopp in charge could lead to us being able to attract some quality players, especially when I feel we definitely need a centre back, a winger and another goalkeeper.

Some interesting tweets someone's posted on an LFC group on Facebook...

#‎LFC‬ has opened discussions with the Agent of Ter Stegen, due 2 lack of game time at FCB. Apparently it's ‪#‎Klopp‬'s priority. ‪#‎RMCsport‬
Mohamed Bouhafsi @mohamedbouhafsi 22m22 minutes ago
#LFC opened discussion with Ter Stegen,he doesn't have much time playing and he is Klopp priority ! No discussions with FCB for The moment.
ter Stegen's representatives have asked Barcelona to give him permission to talk to LFC, as he is unsettled at the club. [Cadena Cope]
Said Bouhafsi was the first guy to say we were getting Manquillo on loan. If we were to get a new goalkeeper I thought it'd be in the summer, but I wouldn't be complaining if we got Ter Stegen in January.

It'd be a great move, and Klopp will already know him. The media like linking us to every German that's ever existed but this one might actually come off.

Also Henderson and Sturridge have been left at home for the West Ham game. We don't know anything about the Henderson situation, Sturridge is still on his pre-season thing. I'd rather we ease him in, the game against Exeter would be a good place to start.

Some more!

#‎Liverpool‬ scouts in attendance for 10 Benfica matches assessing Anderson Talisca. 21-year-old attacker, Brazilian. [A Bola]
If Brazil win the 2018 WC they might as well give us the trophy...

"A Bola"

Unfortunate name.

Please don't sign Anderson Talisca, he is someone that I like, and him going to you would make me have to stop doing so!

Good to see us being linked with quality players, let's hope it comes true. With the transfer window you always get silly season in the press though.

I'd take ter Stegen in an instant.

Got an email from "LFC Partnership Team" regarding Marathon Bet, guessing Liverpool partnered with them. 6/1 Liverpool to score anytime against West Ham, £5 max stake. Not bad until you realise we have to get a goal. Here's hoping Benteke doesn't get any sitters.

Don't know why Liverpool partnered with this company, the website's awful, who designed that crap? I only signed up for the new customer bonus, don't think I'll be using the site after that.

Confirmed team V West Ham:

Mingolet/ Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno// Lucas, Can, Ibe, Coutinho// Firmino/ Benteke.

Subs: Bogdan, Toure, Allen, Lallana, Branningan, Smith, Randall.

Bench looks a bit thin if it's not working out well. I wish he'd taken a chance and put Sturridge in there for a bit of firepower if needed.

This is a good team, Ibe's inclusion is an important one as he will cause chaos with his pace and give us more width. Sturridge is rightly being brought in slowly lets not rush him back and perhaps this new approach may pay dividends. Confident of a win as West Ham will surely not park the bus at home, leaving gaps for us to play football.
