"Lesser teams" . The problem now for Liverpool is they are now one of the lesser teams and dare I say it they raised their game against the so called bigger/better sides like man city & Chelsea.

Before the game today I have never felt more certain than my club (the irons) would beat your lot. I don't remember the last time I felt that way. I feel that we have improved in all areas and defensively & going forward are better than your current side. There are only 3 players I would have from your side - benteke, coutinho & Clyne. This is a poor Liverpool team but it's not klopps fault. Obviously a fit sturridge would improve things but you can't rely on him.

Thankfully you have an excellent manager who I believe will attract the right players & im sure things will improve next season( it's another rebuilding job) Keep the faith things will getter better!

That comment does not make Owen a joker imo. It is true. Moreno was not hurt so of course he should run back, he may well have been fouled but clearly was not hurt. He's paid handsomely to give his all on the pitch not roll around then look up at the play going on and do nothing to get back. To think his advisors made out RM were interested in him.

pointless picking individuals out after that performance though, the whole team were poor. Time Klopp told them these off par performances are not acceptable. Chance to go 5th before other teams play and we perform like that!!

No the CC for me, 3 games and its ours, EL means many more games meaning we will probably finish 10th!!

But these average players were able to take apart Chelsea, Man City, Southampton so they clearly have it in their arsenal. Why can't it be produced on a constant basis is what I cant fathom.

they took apart teams that came out to play.

Do you think that playing West Ham two days after Sunderland was probably why we lost the game

It was 3 days... and it's a congested fixture list that all PL teams are having to deal with, yet City managed to dig out a huge result today. Playing Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday is not at all uncommon.

Arsenal were being held for a long time but they found a vital goal, like you always expect they will these days. United even did it too. Sadly that's not something I feel with us at the moment. After seeing we were 1-0 down I had no belief we were going to roll our sleeves up and fight our way back into the game. The players' heads drop too easily.

It was nearer 2 days than 3 with the early kick off plus a poor decision. But overall it was a poor team performance sadly

Swings and roundabouts - City probably got the best deal by playing Saturday afternoon-Tuesday-Saturday evening but as we perform better at high energy levels we'd have suffered against either Suneerland or West Ham whatever way the TV schedule was juggled. We did look a bit lethargic today but I suspect that did not contribute to our defeat as it was depressingly typical of our abject displays against teams that get stuck into us and get tie ball into our box quickly. I'm actually more confident of getting points against the likes of Arsenal, United, Spurs, ,City and Everton when we play them in the second half of the season at Anfield. We need to be less predictable and get some threat on the pitch. Sadly, Sturridge is the only player we possess who seems to be a constant threat to defenders but he can't do that from the physio's room. Klopp needs to act this month - and I'd fret if we are only looking at the likes of 21-year-old Brazilians from Benfica. We need a proven, robust and mobile menace. That's on top of a dominant goalkeeper and centre half but that's a tad ambitious for the January window.

Is it all his decision as to who we try and sign now, or are the dreadful transfer committee still in charge over and above the manager?

I suspect the committee still liver and breathes...

The inconsistency will be there all season. Expected it when Klopp came in and it's these times he can see which players he still wants and who he doesn't.

Didn't get to watch the game, but naturally disappointed to hear that we didn't play well. I think Klopp must realise that we need reinforcements in January, as this squad doesn't seem capable of reaching 4th place, despite having the capabilities to put in the odd performance where we absolutely dismantle teams.

Hopefully this personal pre-season that Sturridge is apparently going through finally works in getting some kind of longevity out of him. Lord knows we need him right now.

Benteke is an issue but the players behind him don't help. We get very little from them.

Bizarre as it is to say, Chelsea beating Palace was a good result for us, as will be an Everton win versus Spurs. Rome may have conceded 4th already due to our evident flaws but the way this league is going, I'm not throwing the towel in just yet. All the sides we are competing with are as prone to injury, inconsistency and a crisis of confidence as we are. Thankfully. Could really do with an injection of quality before the transfer window shuts (long before hopefully). The increasingly forlorn hope of an extended Stursidge return to the side is something I'm clinging to as well.

I posted in the Spurs thread when they signed Alli that I was gutted we'd not got him (having been in pole position to do so). I'd rather take a punt on young players who've produced in the English game than stockpile too many twinkle-toed starlets from sunnier climes.

Well It's a bit worrying if he has because that would suggest it isn't working!

After the poor performances v Newc, WBA,Watford (where those words would need to be spoken) we improved slightly v Leicester & Sunderland and then revert to type v WHU?

From the interviews with him he says you cannot buy the title you need hard work and stay together so that being that and it appearing he has no "big" plans in Jan we seem to have reverted to case too soon after the initial boost of the new manager.

We seem unable to string more than a couple of wins together - those who say it's because we are average - please explain Leicester, Watford, Bournemouth, Stoke, Palace etc - they have spent far less and have no better a squad yet can manage back to back wins without returning to dreadful so soon. Even though Watford have lost the last 2 both their performances were better than ours!

I would hope to see a reaction v Stoke on Tuesday, let's see if they produce one or once again let the travelling fans down.

Red Star Belgrade Midfielder Marko Grujic, is expected to be made official tomorrow according to his social media accounts. Does anyone here know much about him ?

think he is just being realistic. anybody expecting big changes in a January transfer window is being unrealistic.

Its not the right time and is a difficult window to do the correct business. players he wants are more unlikely to be leaving clubs in January.

I dont want to see Klopp signing 2nd choice players just so fans can see the club is spending money.

if we have to wait till the summer then so be it.

Agree with this, Klopp will buy who he wants when he can, and not end up with second best. He has time to wait, time to try and sort out the players we have, we so need some coming back in from the sick bay. I am expecting him to pick the best from the young 'uns for Exeter, and see how they fare for the rest of the season.

Have faith in the man, I have, and I know he'll do the best he can for us, but it's going to be a waiting game until he gets the team/squad he wants. Have a little patience!

As for Marko Grujic, I think he looks good, and he must be real keen, popped the news onto his FB account with delight before LFC had announced it!

Agree with this.

If someone who fits the bill is available at the right price I'm sure Klopp will encourage the committee to make a signing, but given the nature of the January window I wouldn't be surprised to see no incoming transfers (unless we offload players but that seems equally unlikely). We've spent years overpaying for substandard players. It's time to rein it in a bit.

Top 4 was always going to be an extremely difficult task for Klopp after taking over Brendan's team part way into the season. It's still not impossible if we can put a run together in this crazy season, but if he can steer us toward some silverware and a top 6/7 finish I think he'll have done just fine. Then the really hard work begins behind the scenes in the summer to try and sort this squad out.

Now I don't want to be argumentative for the sake of it but .....you replied to a post I'd put, I then reply to that with add on's and you then just comment on the add on's. So I reply with my observations about "if words have been had them not having an effect etc "but you gloss over that and respond to the signings in Jan comment. Which was not in question anyway (so not sure why you get the 2 I agree with this posts after). Not spending big in Jan was never really an option from what he was saying. Losing games in the manner in which we have been is!

Wasn't the best weekend for Ultimate, though the loans expired for players who were getting me points, already made 3 transfers so will have to wait for more. Was going to sell Costa but think I'll keep him in since he's started scoring again. Making him captain seemed like a genius move now with him getting a goal and an assist.
