Henderson has officially been made captain

http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/late...erpool-captain

Congratulations to Hendo
Superb, now get Skrtel confirmed as Vice and we are sorted. Hendo will have learnt a lot from Stevie over the last few years, so he will be excellent in the job.

We do love our Captains to have good strong accents don't we!

Congratulations to Hendo
Yep, that was inevitable really, at least we've chosen someone who has been at the club for a few years. Would've been disappointed with Milner for that reason.

Well done Hendo, he deserves it, very passionate player, possesses quality's that are quite rare these days.

Not a bad thing that Henderson is now captain.

Seems to get what it means to play for Liverpool.

My choice for VC would be Sakho. Not that it makes much difference who I think it should be though.

Man city back in contact with Liverpool about sterling. Unless they meet the value Liverpool want then what's the point or maybe it'll be cash plus a player.

City's players went off to the Far East yesterday for their Summer Tour, our lot leave on Sunday. Just take him over, in economy, and drop him off - leave us Aguero in exchange - that'll do nicely!

Some rival fans are outraged and are boycotting the game by the looks of it. Apparantly the box art is more important than the quality of the actual game.

Can't help but feel that the inevitable has happened and the 'dialogue' the two clubs have entered into will soon result in him being announced as a City player. Have a feeling that we've now hit a brick wall with the player and he's made it clear he no longer wants to be here so no matter what, a deal will be thrashed out.

Hardly a surprise considering it's been glaringly obvious for a long time that he would be off.

Well it's official now, Gary Mac is back.

I do feel a little underwhelmed by the additions to the back room team, however, it's good to see Gary Macalister back at the club.

Be such a shame that he'll go to man city and keep the bench warm because one thing is for sure, he won't play anywhere near as much as he would of at Liverpool but guess money talks.

If that does happen, he'll not be first choice for England either - being match fit is one of the first criteria I'd have thought.

Why? Who should they be employing? I personally don't know enough about coaches to determine the additions are what we need.

He will play. No way they will pay £50 mil for a squad player.

Remember pelegrini said he was £100 mil player. He wants him in his team!!!

In other news sterling has been named in the pre season squad so will be on the place.

Borini, balotelli and Enrique left at home.

I thought we were going to go a whole week without signing anyone! But Skrtel and Gary Mac keep us ticking over in the meantime. Next week: Benteke? Pedro? Reus? Lacazette? Illarremendi? Ntep? Llortente? Augustinsson? With so many choices who can tell?

I wonder why Balotelli gets left behind while Lambert gets taken on tour? Could there be a deal imminent for him and the others?

And it looks like Glen Johnson is going to sign for Stoke, so we'll see him again first day of the season!

He was with the German u21's until 27th June, so, like Firmino, he's still on holiday.

ETA: same with Ilori.

Do people really think that if City spend 40-50m on Sterling he will be warming the bench? I think that's just delusional talk. He will play and probably play very well once his head is sorted.

So there's not really a point in discussing it with you then is there?

I was happy with the appointments of the likes of Critchley and Inglethorpe at the time, because, although not huge names, at least they had some work of note on record when hired..

Sean O'Driscoll has for years been one of the most respected coaches in the lower divisions - innovative coaching methods, brings out the best in players, has his teams playing intelligent football and generally a good communicator (altho there is a clip doing the rounds where he loses his temper with a reporter which goes against this a bit - maybe the reporter was an idiot Sean but you may have been better keeping your cool with him!!) He has also mainly done well at clubs like Doncaster and Bournemouth altho his Bristol City record was not great. (I have not checked the stats on this - its just my gut feeling from my memory bank)

The big issue of course is that he has never really worked at the kind of level LFC is at - some have therefore written him off. It would be foolish to do that imo but at the same time whilst we cannot be sure he will be a success I am fairly optimistic about it.

Another point some use is that he is not high profile enough to attract top stars in - I have said that a bit myself - but is that fair? - cos people in positions like first team coach at top clubs are frequently not high profile or known names and just get on with their job in the background without getting much exposure. I am hoping that will be what Sean does - he and BR seem to get on anyway which is a good start!!

If he goes there I do think he will play quite a bit - at first!! - but when his displays fail to deliver then there is every chance he will be left out and thereafter may struggle to regain his place, that's what I think.

So sterling isn't traveling with the team on the tour. Not a big surprise in fact I was surprised when it said he would travel. Very much doubt he'll still there when season starts.
