Rob Green coming in would be annoying. He'd no doubt jump ahead of Ward in the pecking order, who I'm quite eager to see get a run out after his successful loan at Aberdeen.
That and Green's a bit shit. In other news... Sturridge suffers another ‘break’ in training schedule, Klopp confirms. Quote:
“No. No chance for Daniel,” Klopp told the pre-match presser for the Exeter clash. http://www.empireofthekop.com/2016/0...lopp-confirms/“He has had a break in training because of some issues. He’s now back training but losing time. But no team training since Newcastle. I don’t know how long it is. This isn’t [sic] not a situation we can think about him.” Next Christmas I think the kids in Alder Hey hospital will be visiting Daniel Sturridge instead. |

Mignolet, Randall, Ilori, Enrique, Smith, Brannagan, Stewart, R Kent, Teixeira, Ojo, Benteke.
Probable line-up (Tony Barrett) Brad Smith has impressed me the most out of the younger players, unfortunately for him Moreno's both young and improving under Klopp, so he won't get to play as much unless one of them gets played further forward (or there's an injury...), but he's a good, solid option, and he's got a great cross on him. If we bring Benteke or Caulker (in another game) on later on in the game then we could bring him on as well for his crossing abilities. Ojo looked good in the first game, could make a difference. Nice to see Teixeira there (if he does play), he really needs to do something to impress the manager. At his age he can't be considered a promising youth prospect anymore, he should be really challenging for his place, and this would be a good game to start. Not overly confident of that centreback pairing. |

Caulker played a full match with the U21's last night because he isn't eligible to play tonight - though he will be for the next round should we proceed. I hope to see Ward in there, no Enrique, and even a bit iffy on Benteke frankly - sure the kids have a better option!
Edit: Oh, and Flanno will more than likely get a run out!

Rumours abound that Liverpool have enquired about Granit Xhaka from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
If this deals goes ahead it means that Liverpool will have a midfield of Xhaka Can. 'Aint nobody.....better than you'. |

Ward should play tonight. To bring to an end his successful loan spell at Aberdeen to be a constant bench warmer is pointless otherwise, may as well have left him to continue there, would benefit him (and us if we are not even playing him in CC games) more.

Same old story really. Creating so many chances but can't put the ball in the back of the net. I can just see Exeter equalising with their first shot.
Ibe's been very lively. Would perhaps be better on the left so he could cut inside onto his stronger foot. |

Happy with that. Dominated the game and got our deserved goals in the end.
Plenty of positives to take from it, Flanno's return was one of the main ones, great to see him back. Benteke though is incredibly frustrating to watch. |

Ojo's goal was absolutely lovely. A "Sturridge-esque" finish if I do say so.
Nothing wrong with Teixiera's finish either. |

Benteke is Balotelli is Carrol all over again. We don't learn. Without Sturridge we do not have any strike options that work. If we don't get a good forward in this window we are settling for mid-table.

Top 4 has gone. Finishing 6 - 10 makes no difference to me.I would say the its a bit unfair to label Benteke is like Balo or Carrol. The major difference between the three is Benteke at least had some pedigree. His goal to games ratio in the EPL was good unfortunately that alone didn't make him the right player for Liverpool. I dont think its simply about lack of crosses which some people seem to think either. Some players excel at clubs and then when make a move to a bigger club where the pressure is a lot more intense they struggle. The Times is reporting the club have made an offer of 32mil Euros for Alex Teixeira but Shakhtar want 50m Euros. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/footb...Brazilian-star Quote:
LIVERPOOL have moved to ease their scoring problems by launching a bid to sign Brazilian striker Alex Teixeira.
Chief executive Ian Ayre has flown to Florida where Shakhtar Dontesk are at a winter training camp and played a friendly with Corinthians. Liverpool value Teixeira at around £25million which equates to just over 30m euros. Shakhtar want nearer £39m (50m euros). Chelsea were keen on signing Teixeira, 26, but baulked at the asking price and have instead targeted Pato in a £7m deal. Manager Jurgen Klopp has made striking reinforcements a priority with the injuries to Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings plus the ongoing difficulties endured by Christian Benteke. Benteke spurned the opportunity to claim a morale boosting goal in last night’s 3-0 FA Cup replay victory over Exeter City. |
