It looks like this deal for Teixeira is a bit more than a rumour now, will be a decent one, and the first real Klopp buy too should it come off. Fingers crossed.

Be interesting to have 2 Teixeiras playing for us, I would love to see the current one given a bit more playing time!

Yeah Ayre flying out means they must believe they can get it done.

Don't say that too quickly...remember the Mkhitaryan fiasco. I hope this time we don't end up over-paying just to get the deal done and save face.

I don't know much about this Texiera though he seems to get his share of goals, but he does seem another player on the short side of average height.

The only blessing is this happened before we signed him. We don't need another Sturridge

I'd heard the deal has been agreed, Ayre £32M??
Apparently he has 22 goals in 21 games in all comps.
If true about the injury though, oh dear .......

Pleased with the game last night, marked improvement on the 1st game with them.
Great strike from Ojo - really impressed with his 2 cameo appearances.
Allen & Ibe motm for me, and I didn't think Benteke was THAT bad, he did some good things, although not according to Michael Owen . Nice dribble & assist for Teixera goal.

I think the injury thing is just a 'he has to be broken, he's signed for Liverpool' thing, he'll be fine!

I will look for any 'link' without Owen blethering, he really has no clue and talks out the back of his horses bum most of the time. I also am one of the few who thought Benteke did OK, but I didn't have the aforementioned idiot droning on and on and on and on!

That's unjust - Mario scored 1 league goal for us, was unprofessional and selfish. Carroll scored six goals over an extended period and was not proven in the PL when we panicked and bought him. Benteke has proven he can score plenty of PL goals and has scored 6 in 19 league games which is at least a credible contribution. He also doesn't hide despite an evident crisis of confidence - not helped by Klopp not trusting him in recent weeks.

Should we start with Joe Allen on Saturday? Or at least bring him on later?

He's been playing alright recently. Personally I'd put him on the bench then bring him on later in an advanced position so that his energy can be put to better use like against Arsenal.

But I wouldn't be too bothered to see him start.

I'd like to see Ojo get some game time, most likely from the bench. Maybe bring him on for Lallana in the second half.

Apparently Swansea are taking an interest in him.

I'd start Allen in place of Can, since Can's played a lot this season and he's still pretty young.

I really hope we do get Alex Teixeira as we are badly lacking in the striking department. Totally agreed with you on the Owen front, I have BT sports as an internet add on, but is so often such bad picture quality on my Android TV Box, that I often watch via a foreign stream, lovely picture and sound with no buffering, best thing of all is that you don't get that little Judas waffling on.

You really couldn't make it up. Its laughable really, we go after a striker to replace our injury prone striker, no sooner have we our bid in until he gets injured, first time he's been injured in 8 years apparently.

I think that if Liverpool can get good offer for Henderson, klopp would consider letting him go.. I'm not convicted Klopp is a big enough fan to want to rebuild around him...

And what do you base that on? How has Klopp given the impression he's not a big enough fan of him? He's been injured this season and is getting back to fitness so can't have played him as much as he wants to but that's all.

You might not think Henderson's that good but I'd like to think Klopp's smarter than you.

Klopp is a great manager and I reckon he will do very well for Liverpool.
Just a hunch really. I suppose it can be brushed under the carpet on here until it happens!

We'd need to find a player with his range of passing and energy before we can even consider selling him. Our midfield needs balance and variety and he adds that. His non-stop style is also ideal for Klopp's system. Let's see how he slots in until the end of the season before we start predicting what Klopp may or may not do. The manager has not had a chance to truly evaluate him yet and has said he's doing that for all players.

Quote:
“Liverpool will hold further talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over the signing of Alex Teixeira after submitting an initial €32m (£24.6m) bid for the Brazilian forward.

A Liverpool delegation led by the chief executive, Ian Ayre, met their Ukrainian counterparts this week in Orlando, where Shakhtar are competing in the Florida Cup, having identified the 26-year-old as the player to rejuvenate Jürgen Klopp’s struggling attack. Ayre and company returned to Britain on Thursday without a deal but Shakhtar are willing to continue negotiations during this transfer window.

The clubs are far apart in their valuation of Teixeira with the Shakhtar owner, Rinat Akhmetov, seeking €50m for a forward who has scored 22 goals in 15 league games this season plus three in six Champions League matches. Liverpool have scored only 25 goals in 22 Premier League games.

An added complication is Shakhtar’s reluctance to sell in January but the player is keen on a move to the Premier League and Liverpool will again test his employer’s resolve over the coming days.”

As for Hendo, his a good player but is limited. I don't think he really excels at any one thing. Captain material I think not as I don't believe his a player in midfield who can take control of game and change it for the better.

I will say we look a better side when he is playing though as his energy and pressing are very good.

I think his limitations really show when he plays for England as I just don't think he has the footballing ability to play central midfield at that level.

You still haven't said what makes you think Klopp isn't convinced by him, I've not been given that impression so I'm interested to know why you think so, if it's based on anything you've seen, heard or read from him.
