Flanno went off half way through extra time.

Energy was OK but final ball was shocking. I thinking it was mostly down to tension and nerves.

I thought he did, so on that he did very well.

I agree that our schedule of matches is taking a toll on us, it has to be, and poor Klopp is trying everything he can just to get us to win.

We have 4 weeks to this final, hope we have a few sick players back by then.

Yes!! Just Yes!!

But, omg, what a woeful game to watch. Despite a blatant offside goal, I wouldn't really have begrudged Stoke if they'd went through. Not because they particularly good or impressive, but because we were so poor for a semi-final. We just couldn't do anything with the ball in the final third. Maybe tiredness and that's not a good sign for what will surely be another physical encounter against West Ham.

Actually really happy for Mingolet and Allen; two players who have certainly had their fair share of blame over the last few months/seasons.

Ok, Everton, over to you.

Think it's 14/17 in penalty shootouts. Real good record.

Wow, I've only just calmed down enough to be able to type this message

Yes, we all know the performance was terrible but to be honest, were Stoke that much better than us? I don't think they deserved to win the game in the 90 minutes, with or without the 'offside' goal.

Objective of a semi final is to get through to the final and we all know that Liverpool always do it the hard way and scare us half to death whilst doing it

Wembley here we come

I was just looking at February's fixtures & we were due to face Everton in a standard Merseyside Derby match on the 28th February, so am wondering when that game will be rearranged to.

City in the final then - I just can't see a Martinez side holding then back at the Etihad. If that's the case, it'll be an open final.

Away goal would be useful.

Everton need 2 away goals to put any pressure on I suspect - let's hope Lukaku and co have a blinder as I really want a Merseyside final.

Klopp: Man City or Everton I don't care, we will win the cup
Reporter: Well put, Jurgen. Congratulations, thanks once again for your time
Klopp: You're welcome, I had to, everybody told me I had to

He's too cool.

Did anyone else hide their eyes when Lucas walked up to take a penalty? I really couldn't watch him, he's known to be lousy at any attempt at a goal! Took it very well though, thankfully!

What did it for me was it being his 300th game for us, and even worse the commentator mentioned it. When he said that I said (out loud) to myself "don't say that!"

I hid my eyes before every LFC penalty not jut Lucas - as the way the evening had gone I did not have much faith in any of them.

Did anyone notice btw that Lucas was the first to arrive at Joe in the celebration after we had won - like Carra was in Istanbul - the guy is a massive asset to our club as I feel he 'gets it' more than most as he has been at the club longest - I love him. I have just started reading SGs book - and Stevie feels the same way that is clear. I so want him to score in a normal match one day!! The day Lucas leaves LFC will be a sad day that's for sure.

Can't bring myself to do a long post now - I'll just list the positives - Flanagan and we won - that's it.

Klopp gave Flanno his MOTM.

“Usually we know it is not the best thing but we had no other chance. We were always in contact with him, always asking. Even when we took him out, he said ‘I could go on’. That was really great."

It's Silverware and gives us a EL place so of course it carries weight. It's especially important this season as frankly we're looking unlikely to qualify for Europe via the league and I don't care what anyone else says, being in Europe is very important for a club like us. It also means that if we get through the next round or two of the EL it may well become a priority over the PL so having the qualification for next season already takes some of the pressure off. Winning the EL this season would be a massive boost. Klopp and CL football would open up virtually the entire football market to us. That said, based on last night's performance, we're not going to get much further in Europe anyway.

As mentioned above by a few others, we're in desperate need of our key injured players to come back and stay fit for the rest of the season. Anybody know when Coutinho is back? Is Ings going to be fit anytime soon, I know initially it was said he was out for the season but did read somewhere he might be back this season? And of course, the big miss is Sturridge, his movement and finishing is vital to our play.

Origi, 3 more weeks

Coutinho, Skrtel and Rossiter - 2 weeks

Studge, not known

Ings and Gomez classed as out for season.

(Taken from 2 different sources, both the same).

The only player I had confidence in was Can!

Lallana - goal shy, Benteke - low in confidence, Firnino - looked pensive, Milner - seen him miss before, Lucas - knackered, Allen - can't be a hero for two weeks in succession! Emre Can, I thought, was a confident lad with a solid Gernan background in the art of penalties!

Going second was a nightmare - more pressure, especially in sudden death!

The Stoke player at the end did look petrified, though - and Mignolet proved (again) that he's decent in a shootout (the pundits wrote him off before it started which annoyed me as the debate should have been around saving penalties not general all-round goalkeeping abilities).

If it is City in the final, I'm preying Yaya plays as we tend to exploit his reluctance to track back and capacity to get caught on the ball.
