I'd be happy with the team suggested here - a good mix and allows some key players to rest.

I doubt Hendo will be playing, maybe put Brannagan in midfield with Joe? Agree Smith and Tex should play, and Ojo too if possible. Iffy bit is that the U21's have a match tomorrow I think.

Firmino should start as he has really improved in recent games

We need him more on Tuesday v Leicester, I agree he's doing well, but the next PL match is more important than today really.

Not surprised with the team. Players need to rest .

That's all well and good but we should also not throw away a chance to progress to the next round as we have no chance in the league.

The confirmed team v West Ham:

Mingolet// Clyne, Caulker, Lovren, Smith// Allen (c), Brannigan, Stewart// Ibe, Teixeira/ Benteke

Subs: Ward, Ilori, Randall, Enrique, Chirivella, Ojo, Sinclair.

Joe Allen takes the captaincy.

The bench tells the story of what we are prioritising this week. Not a bad team, but up against a strong PL standard West Ham side, so it's going to be tough.

8 points off 4th with Spurs still to come to Anfield does not equate to no chance as far as I'm concerned. Today's team is more than capable of beating West Ham at Anfield if the attitude and effort is up to scratch.

Not sure how playing players who need a rest would help with that.

Don't think its for a rest, it'll be for Leicester on Tuesday.

I would say it's both. Players are not robots who can just keep motoring on at maximum game after game after game. Something has to give and after 120 mins on Tuesday today was the day.

Should have been 1-0 there.

The first half has been a bit of a non event; it doesn't really seem like an FA cup tie at the moment.

Need to be careful we don't get run over in midfield during the second half. I would like to see Ojo get a run out quite early in the half as well.

The FA Cup should very much be 4th on our list of priorities. We're already in the League Cup final, and the Europa League is a potential route into the CL, so those competitions, plus the Premier League obviously, should be taking precedence. Besides, it's good for the kids to play the odd game where there's actually a bit of pressure to perform. A big game like this will do a job in separating those who could be a big deal, and those who aren't up to scratch.

Saying that, I feel like we're playing very well overall. Smith and Tex again are the standouts, just as with Exeter, but nobody is playing badly. Brannagan looks like a player who could have a future at Anfield too, and Allen is looking like the senior player that is obviously is. Nice to see Caulker and Lovren dealing with the majority of crosses with ease.

Now if Benteke could score, that'd be brilliant.

So having a week off rather than having to play 4 days later isn't a rest? There's no point in resting if there's nothing to rest for, so obviously Klopp had Leicester in mind - if we weren't playing again until next weekend, I'm sure either the starting XI or the bench would've been stronger.

Again, finally ball needs to be better cut the lads are playing OK with the newbies showing up well again.

Could do without the replay.

This is so bad to watch. Some of our shots have been horrific. We must be the laughing stock of the country right now.

I'm not watching but seems to be the same old issues, need a clinical finisher?

Disappointing. Last thing we need is another game on the fixture list.

Impressed with Stewart, Lovren, Brannagan and Tex.

Less said about Benteke the better.

We played much better in the second half for me and were probably just about the better team, but...again... we just can't break West Ham down and offer ourselves a few decent chances. Hammer's keeper did well when called upon though.
Lovren and Caulker and Benteke look a bit more solid in the air than Toure, Sakho, Milner/Lucas/Firmino defending.

A replay is a right pain in the backside, but it will give a few of these up-and-coming, promising youngsters another run out and away in London will be good experience for them. The draw for next round might just decide how hard we push in the replay.

The intrigue with the draw for the next round would be if the winners of this tie draw Arsenal , if Liverpool get through they would have to play the tie 48hours after the Europa league game as they would not make Arsenal play the Sunday 48hours before meeting Barcelona.

I assume the champions league takes priority in that situation

Probably not the result Klopp wanted but imv there is no harm in giving the youngsters another outing at the replay.

If the emphasis is on the other 3 competitions there is nothing for them to lose. Klopp must feel like he is managing two teams at Anfield after he left Germany!

A draw against West Ham is better than two defeats. Benteke remains a worry. He can't be happy with his own contribution. If it was a toss up between Benteke and Balotelli I wouldn't be fit to say who is the lesser of two evils. I wouldn't have said that at the start of the season.

Benteke is our leading scorer this season with 7 goals, so I'd take him over Balotelli, even though he's far from been a success.
The draw this evening means we'll play a minimum of 56 games this season, I don't think we should prioritise, that's a dangerous game to play, we should just take each game as it comes.
It does feel the old days with all these games, but also like KD's final season when we were poor in the league, especially at home, but did well in the cups.

The replays and injuries this season mean that Klopp has at least had the chance for a good look at all our squad. Before he strengthens it in the summer.Could've done without having to play the hammers again but at glad it wasn't a third loss in a row against them this season.

Have we actually bought anyone in the transfer window?
