Have we actually bought anyone in the transfer window?
We have, but we have loaned him straight back to his current club (Grujic) so wont actually get him here until the summer, plus Caulker as a loan signing only.

Seems to be Newcastle the most active, trying to add Berahino now.

Blackburn away in the 5th round of the FA Cup if we get past the replay against West Ham.

Its now getting to the point where I feel unsure who the first choice team is - as yesterday I felt the kids played at least as well as the so called first team V Stoke a few days earlier. The great thing is we have lots of options for almost all positions now when all are fit - the 18 from yesterday +
Keeper - Bogdan!! (well maybe not!!)
Full backs - Gomez, Flanno, Moreno,
CBs - Skrtel, Sakho, Kolo
MF - Lucas, Coutinho, Firmino, Milner, Can, Hendo,
Strikers - Origi , Sturridge, Ings
= a squad of 34 with others on loan like Mario, Markovic, Luis Alberto and also the lad at Brentford, Fulton the keeper at Pompey and then there's Harry Wilson (is he back from Crewe?) and Kent who did well at Coventry so around 40 players. In fact the squad is so big that I am sure JK will sell some in the summer to create space for his own men - great!! - I look forward to it

Maybe the issue is most of the 40 are either just that bit below top level or are rated as young and likely to improve but have not yet reached their peak. Klopp does seem quite a loyal person and so I cannot see him ditching some of the underperforming stars in favour of any from yesterday which is maybe a fault but maybe a good thing as he will not chop and change too much. I hope when we recruit we try not to bring in more average players but try to bring in higher quality but that is easier said than done - and I do not necessarily mean spending mega bucks in the 40m+ range as that is no guarantee of quality at all. This is where the work of the transfer committee can make or break progress.

As many know I have banged the drum for Tex for a while and he was quite good again yesterday but for me the best was Brannagan - I especially liked his free kick delivery which is an area where we are weak and also Stewart did well too. My biggest problem is Benteke and the whole strikers issue as he is almost the only choice unless you play Firmino up front but I see Firmino more as a number 10 type striker. Basically we need an effective player to go up front with him. When fit I would see all 3 of the other options - Sturridge, Origi and Ings as a better bet than Benteke but as he is the only one fit it is almost as if he has to play. I do not see him playing to his strengths at all - strength being one of his best assets - at times he seems to be so easily bullied and not put himself about these days - he was never like that at AVFC. Many seem to have totally lost patience with him reading comments from fans elsewhere - I have not got to that stage yet but he does need to step up to the plate soon.

Btw I was fine with JKs selection yesterday - I would not even label it as down playing the FAC - if he had picked the same team as Tuesday I am not sure they would have done any better and maybe could have been worse. He is trying to manage his playing resources so that as far as possible we do as well as possible in all the comps we are in - our mistake if we have made one is still being in so many comps - if we had been knocked out of the EL or the Capital One Cup we would not have had to face the dilemmas JK faced yesterday.

I think Klopp would love the opportunity to face Blackburn - in fact, I'm sure Ewood...

I know you love a good pun, but that was a pretty big stretch...

It looks like a very quiet transfer deadline day at the end of a quiet window for us.
Klopp would seem to be more interested in looking at long term, re-buliding, signings rather than quick fixes ( Caulker excepted ) . And the club are quite rightly not going to silly money for a player they may get for a lot less ( maybe £20m less ) in the summer.

I can't really complain too much about either outlook, but I would have been tempted with Charlie Austin for £4m ( even if you only have him for a year/18 months you'd get all your money back), or even Doumbia on loan would have been interesting. I've mentioned him a few times on previous windows, so I'll be watching him closely to see what he does in the PL at last.

Telegraph reporting that Jose Enrique is talking to Newcastle. Klopp would be mad to allow it with all the injuries the club has, and with no one coming in at all this month.

Enrique has been persona-non-grata at the club for over a year now, he really wouldn't be missed that much. He's also on a very god contract ( I read as much as £70k a week; no wonder we can't move him on! ) and that's an awful lot of money to be paying a player to do little but take selfies all week.

On the contrary, we'd be mad not to accept any kind of cash bid for him. This is a 30 year old left back who hasn't played any kind of regular football for 2 years, will probably be on quite a high wage and who is now comfortably 3rd choice in his position (maybe even 4th if Klopp wanted to play Flanagan there).

I love Enrique as a character, but he won't be missed on the pitch.

Sturridge will run 10 yards in training before he discovers a small hangnail on his little toe, leading him, yet again, to decide that he doesn't want to play for another 2 months while he continues to pick up his 6 figure monthly salary.

You know it will happen.

Rumour going around that it has been suggested that next seasons ticket prices will be £70 per match at Anfield . The club should be announcing the official prices in the next few days. If this is true then it is disgusting to charge such an extreme amount.

I know there'll be people who will question the info, but this same person told me Klopp was to be our next manager the night Rodgers left.
Seems Klopp wasn't willing to pay that sort of money for a player he rated at £25m or whatever it is our highest bid was. Disappointing not to get him, but the Shaktar owners are difficult to deal with.

Just hope if Ian Ayre or FSG don't end up getting criticised when the window shuts, but I know they will.

Since this didn't work, and we end the transfer window having not signed anyone it looks like he was our main target, with a lack of a backup option. Better than panic buying, I suppose.

Danny Ings could be back training outside next Tuesday, with some light training.

Klopp:

“I had lunch with Ingsy a few minutes ago,” he said.

I might start calling him Ingsy now.

As long as he's a red, and there's a possibility he can still play for us - I won't mock him. I really hope he get's himself together and then proves his worth and LFC's patience, I haven't written him off yet.

Joking aside, Sturridge is one of my favourite players when fit. The things he can do are sublime and he knows where the net is. I still have very fond memories of his partnership with Suarez.

Liverpool supporters union Spirit of Shankly (SOS) today lamented the club's latest ticket price announcement as “a huge missed opportunity” for the club.

SOS and the Spion Kop group were both involved in the working group formed to look at pricing structures once the new Main Stand was complete but they have been left severely disappointed by the outcome of a process which has lasted 13 months.

And their frustration is directly firmly at the club's owners, FSG, who they believe have not been prepared to reduce the demands on supporters when there was a perfect opportunity to do so.

SOS spokesman Jay McKenna told the ECHO: “Our frustration is with the owners. We've met with a lot of the Liverpool-based staff and they've been open, honest and engaged.

“Yet we submitted proposals to the owners and asked to meet with them and didn't even get a reply.

“The decision making here came from Boston no doubt. The final say was with the owners.”
