While we can't defend even to a basic level, and this has only really come in since Klopp's arrival, there's no hope. Defending hasn't been good at the club for a long time now, as was pointed out to me when I said the above the other day, but there's a big difference between not good and what it is now.
I, and plenty of others would've liked to have see at least some activity in the transfer window as an admission from Klopp and the board that the squad is neither good or deep enough. Riddled from top to bottom with injuries, some of them long term, the squad was desperate. A new keeper and a striker were needed, but nothing. Not even a realistic target.
The club is now so far away from the top table that I see nothing more than years of mid table mediocrity, no European football for years, which to be frank is probably a blessing, and a once great club dependent on the domestic cup competitions for silverware.
You only have to see the state that AC Milan and Inter are in now to see where Liverpool are heading.”

For 18 months or more we have not had a fit or in-form striker worthy of the name - Benteke is a massive upgrade on the disgraceful Balotelli but just doesn't fit into Klopp's style. Our lack of firepower is making every defensive mistake we make significant. It is still very questionable how our recruitment works and whether the manager gets to actually propose players rather than select from a committee-generated list.
So until Klopp has a fair crack at getting the right players in and the striker issue is resolved (new signings, Sturridge and Ings fit), we should not judge him - his last season at Dortmond did worry me a bit but I concede he kept losing key players.
He'll make changes in the summer to most areas of the team if the owners give him the scope to do so. We do have some talented players but there's an evident lack of pace, goals and bravery in the side and I'm sure Klopp will address those shortcomings.
I still think our board and the suits below them are getting an easy ride in terms of the playing staff - the way we recruit and the manner of our negotiations. The wax we let Alli slip between our fingers haunts me more and more the more I see him have an impact on Spurs' progress - it was abundantly clear at MK Dons he was well worth the £5m asking price.
On the plus side, City are looking very vulnerable and their fixture list can only help us too in our chances at Wembley, especially if we can get some of our injured players back. It would be also nice to win our last league game until March at Villa next Sunday - if we don't, that will be further damnation of some aspects of our team right now.
