Robbed.

Enner Valencia is a right bellend, going down at the faintest whiff of someone's breath. Never a free kick leading to their second goal.

One less potential run of matches to care about I suppose. Gutted for Lucas giving that free kick away. Shouldn't have been in that position if Benteke had composure with those chances earlier on.

Promising signs for the future with players coming back from injury. Bring on West Ham next year when Klopp has a few of his own signings within our line up.

Also, if Benteke could score at least one 1v1 before the end of the season, that'd be great. How many is that now?

Sturridge looking twice the player having just come back from injury. We've missed him.

Sturridge looked sharp. Real sharp for his first game back.

doesnt look like a player who is unhappy and would rather not play thats for sure! you can see how big he is for us when he plays.

Gutted to lose it in the last minute. Thought we were the better team overall, all the young lads did well.

I blame Benteke though, had so many chances to win it for us. He's such a liability for us. Now Origi and Sturridge (for now at least) are back he won't get many chances I'd suspect.

I can't believe what I watch, what a mess Liverpool are

So much mediocrity.

Entirely Lucas' fault. He gave away at least two cheap and needless free kicks by putting his hands in the back of West Ham player. He knows the player's going to milk it for all it's worth, and he knows the referee will give it.

Again, unable to defend a simple set piece. Mignolet's positioning again terrible for the second goal. He's so far across his right hand side that all he can do is watch the ball come back past him. He's got no clue about angles.

As for Benteke, he can just pack his bags and go now. Will never be good enough to wear the shirt.

Really. We played well tonight. We had relatively novices out there and for me were the better side. Far from mediocre tonight. West ham is a difficult place to win.

Also yes Lucas shouldn't of done that but he was excellent tonight and for me is twice the captain Henderson is.

I hope Stewart gets some gametime in the league. Gives us some bite in there.

Played superbly and it was great to see Sturridge in sparkling form. Lucas was immense at the back but sadly conceded an unnecessary foul (albeit guaranteed by the West Ham player folding like a broken deck chair as per the current trend) that led to the winner.

Some lads did themselves a big favour with their performances tonight - all the younger players did very well in an intimidating atmosphere and we were not bullied for once. We were the better side but it just wasn't our night.

Loved the performance
Hated the Result
That's about it

Mediocre? Really? We sent a team of kids out to play against a full strength West Ham team, away from home, and outplayed them and you think we were mediocre?

I swear, some people won't be happy until we devour the spirit of Barcelona.

In general I meant, I pray Klopp gets what he wants come the summer.

Gutted to lose in that manner so late in the game without getting a shout at a shootout. At least the squad will get a breather come the weekend for the next round.

I should apologise to the team for doubting them, they played far better than I thought and stood up really well to a fairly strong WH side. Indeed, I thought, overall, we were the better side tonight. (Yes, we got lucky with the penalty call). We lost a bit of forward momentum when Coutinho and Teixeira went off; maybe should have taken Ibe off instead of Tex. And of course Benteke should have won it in the second half...c'mon China, where are the offers

Yeah, right. People with their eyes open hopefully saw what I did - some great attacking play, plenty of heart, a plethora of exciting younger players and a sharp Sturridge. Bleed some of these players into the league side and we've still got a decent foundation to work from.

What did you expect? Klopp to pull eleven in-form world clasp players out of a hat? Look past the result.

Now, you do know he's not a CB. He's not really close to being a CB for me. But, I have to admit to being constantly surprised at how well he actually does in that position. I thought he put in a good captains performance tonight and it wasn't as if he had an experienced CB beside him for help and guidance. It was a shame about his silly mistake that lead to their goal, but by that stage I think the tiredness had set in.

With everyone praising Lucas (and rightly so) for a terrific performance, I just want to big up Tiago Ilori as well, who I thought also put in a brilliant performance.

That's his one real weakness - cheap fouls. Not so bad when in the middle of the pitch. The attacker wasn't going anywhere so Lucas just needed to shepherd him into touch/traffic. My heart sank as soon as the foul was given.

True - and he didn't run out of gas this time dither. He grew in confidence and some of his steals from opponents were Hansenesque! Just needs to show that more.

I think we could have gone far in the cup if we had beaten them tonight because we would have had Blackburn in the next round and if we had got through that one then who knows

I was actually very impressed with the performance tonight. I think Klopp was of the mind that it would be good to win, but, a loss would make it easier for the squad as a whole now.

Considering it was kids + others back from injury getting a decent run out, they played well. Shame about Benteke though, I think he may be on his way out anyway, his chances have been too many now.

I'm not sorry we lost, a few less matches to play now.

Maybe but remember they should of had a pen.

Not sure why some are so negative. There were plenty positives to take from the game.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brad Smith start against Aston Villa on Sunday, Moreno could do with a rest.

Also wouldn't mind seeing Kevin Stewart more this season, and I mean in some league games, even if it's off the bench.

I'm not actually going to criticise Benteke simply because he put the effort in, and he was actually having a go. How often do we pass the ball around the box as if we try to walk it in? Particularly our midfielders? He had a few chances, Sturridge could've had a hat-trick with some of those chances, and Benteke on form would, too, but if he's getting into the positions and having a go the goals will come. I do fear that his time at LFC is running out, if Sturridge can remain fit for the remainder of the season, but I like him so hopefully he can get into some form.

I think brad Smith should play because i trust him over moreno. Moreno hasn't been playing well.
