We're now in the bottom half of the table
Again,if we win tomorrow we'll be 8th and just 3 points off fifth. Only need Sick Bullet to come on and be negative BEFORE we've played and we've got the set...

He won't be long I'm sure! Think some reckon the more miserable they can appear, the more right they have when we win to say "I knew we'd win!"

The points difference between us at 11th and Watford at 8th are tighter than a gnats fanny. I won't go into our remaining fixtures of the season as you never know which team is going to turn up on the day, but I do think we will finish within the top 7.

We have a game on Sunday, then on Thursday, then we have a first free weekend since 1967 or something like this, and then we have another Europa League game and then we have the Capital One Cup final.
Love the bit in bold. :

Despite us being up against the worst team in the league, I'm still lacking in confidence that we can come away with a win. The late collapse against Sunderland hurt.

Sadly the only way I see a string of positive results in the league is for Sturridge & Coutinho to remain fit and stay in the side together. The duo. Both have been here 3 years now and it's hard to think of any better or even comparable attacking players we have signed in that time despite the large amounts spent. Firmino could yet move into that category though so I'm not completely without hope!

Hope Klopp is gunning to set about them from the off. Sturridge and Coutinho to score in the first half. Benteke to come on in the second and score a volley and a header to up his confidence and improve the GD. Yin to the glass half empty yang.

What was it that Klopp said back in October on his first day? Something about ... believe? !

Confirmed team v Aston Villa:

Mingolet/ Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno// Can, Henderson, Milner// Firmino, Sturridge, Coutinho.

Subs: Ward, Flanagan, Caulker, Stewart, Ibe, Benteke, Origi.

I'd say that apart from Toure this is perhaps the nearest we've been all season to actually fielding our best 11...our or supposed best 11. Lucas would probably shout at me for that, which is fair enough, but I'd guess he'll be captaining the EL team midweek.

I would say toure has been the best defender recently and is part of the strongest 11.

I would have preferred Caulker to Toure, and maybe even Ilori to Sakho (think he's not 100% yet). Hope Moreno gets his head working as well as he does his feet, Clyne is the most reliable player we have - long may he keep doing what he does. Midfield OK, but would like to see Stewart in there at some point. Front 3 on paper the best we have - let's hope they work their magic today!

So good to see Flanno and Origi on the bench, I have very high hopes for those two.

Okies, let's get a win folks, we need it badly, so do Villa - game on!

Possibly, but not many would have thought that back in August/September which is why I said 'supposed best 11' . Likewise, Moreno is now not the clear first choice left back he was a few months ago.

Sturridge is a beast when he plays. Said it before and will say it again. There is no way that he can be sold!

Players of his quality you have to keep.

We've scored from a set-piece? It must be our day. Good hassling from Firmino to keep the ball alive.

I think Studge is ours to keep now, no one will risk buying him in case he breaks again, and our asking price would be off the scale if he performs well. We will take the risk that he stays fit, we have invested too much in him now. He belongs to us.

Sturridge's movement is so good. Coutinho has barely had a shot now he's got a frontman who's constantly finding space and offering himself for a pass.

We've been a level above Villa all through that first half and we haven't really been playing at our best or with that much high temp intensity. It really should be all about keeping our concentration, hold onto the ball and don't give them any silly goals that give them something else to play for.
I suppose Klopp might start to think about looking after a couple of players for the LC final if we play the first 20 mins of the second half in the same vein.

I know we keep saying it but I really hope Sturridge can stay fit now. and Coutinho too, the pair have a great understanding of each others game.

If they do stay fit there's no reason why we can't go on a winning run. top 4 is out of reach ofc but no reason why we can't get up to 5th... which would be a great result considering everything that has happened so far.

Not watching but it seems Sturridge is what we have been missing?
