We had a strong side available for the first time in ages, a brutal front 3 we will score and create.
We needed that

I think he hardly got a touch of the ball anyway. He has few chances left now to prove his worth, shame, as he's a nice guy, just can't get those goals he desperately needs.
Its odd how these players just can't seem to find the net for us, Robbie Keane, Andy Carrol, Ballo, Benteke...., when they were all banging them in for their previous clubs. |

Interesting Stats.
Daniel Sturridge has the best minutes per goal ratio of any Liverpool player in Premier League history (118 mins per goal). James Milner has now scored in 40 different Premier League matches and never lost - only Darius Vassell (46 games) has a superior record to this in the competition. Divock Origi scored just 37 seconds after coming on as a substitute in this match - the fastest goal by a substitute in the Premier League in 2015-16. This was the first time that Liverpool have had six different scorers in a single Premier League match. This was the eighth 6-0 away win in Premier League history - four of those have been wins for Liverpool. |

Not sure why i added the caveat about them being successful in England, i knew about Stein situation... didnt know, however, that Paisley was English. Will then add Revie to the list of managers that Paisley does not get rated alongside...
Bob Paisley averaged 2.1 trophies per season at Liverpool... 20 years after his death, Merseyside remembers a genius. That eclipses even Sir Alex Ferguson who, at Manchester United, averaged 1.4.’ |

A front 3 of Sturridge, Firmino and Coutinho was always gonna have the potential to absolutely wreck opposition defences, and it's a shame that this is the first time we've really seen it in full flow. All of them are unbelievably talented, and with Origi showing some form too, we finally have a team that look menacing and dangerous every time we go forward. With Ings to come back into the mix as well, it's all looking very promising in that regard.
Now please, just stay fit for the rest of the season (that goes for you too, Daniel). |

Why couldn't Man City have looked as vulnerable as they are now 2 years ago FFS!!
An amusing end to a great day though with ickle Stirling giving a pen away. Let's hope he's crying again at Wembley in a fortnight.

Don't get me wrong, Villa were dreadful, but before today they'd only lost by more than 1 goal once at home in the league, and that was a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal. They're a poor side but today was the first time they've utterly collapsed this season, and I think it'd be fair to say our attack was a major factor in that. We seemed to take our foot off the pedal at 6-0 but that's to be expected when we've played such a crazy amount of games recently. Now we can prepare for the tough Europa League tie and enjoy a rare week's rest inbetween legs. |

Great result today, Villa were beyong awful (I see Lescott is not in their fans good books after his tweet) but we played well and it just shows how much better we are when we have Coutinho/Sturridge playing. To be fair most of our shots today were very good, pleased for Origi too, although I think he may think twice about running into the crowd to celebrate again And Kolo ---gotta love kolo He's been a great back up for us to have had for sure.

It just goes to prove that when Coutinho and Sturridge are fit, we are a different proposition, even if we did play Villa. Like last season, if we'd had that luxury all season things would have been far different. Sturridge's threat behind and intelligent movement make our pressing a far more effective weapon. We must find a Sturridge clone in the summer.

Liverpool had 8 different players score in the 9-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace back in Sept 1989. Top flight match in the old Division One. Same division, different name. Those were the days *sniff* |

I see we had one of our own following in our footsteps tonight, Suarez bagged himself a hat-trick on a 6-1 scoreline!
