We seem to have more penalty shoot outs than any other team
The good thing being we tend to be in more finals than others.

Poor penalties from coutinho and Lallana. Really poor but it can happen in shoot outs.

Coutinho's penalty was absolutely shocking. I despise the stutter as it is, but the penalty was so weak and so central. I expect much more from a player of his calibre.

Lucas and Lallana took fine penalties, they were just very well saved.

The better team won. They did more in the game and their penalties were quality (bar Fernandinho's).

Too many average Joes in the team meant we were always going to be relying on luck or City having an off-day.

Surprised Milner didn't go first or second in the shoot out. I always think the best penalty takers should go as early as possible.

We had the luck with the penalty not awarded in the 90mins but they had the luck with Toure getting the deciding spot kick after he maybe should've been sent off in Extra time.

Lots of pride in this team, a lot better showing at Wembley than the FA Cup semi last year. We've gone toe to toe with a team who still might win their 3rd PL title in 5 years this season. One that has a hell of a budget and players more experienced and expensive than most of ours.

Bring them on again at Anfield Wednesday evening.

If there's one rich I club I can take losing a final to it's City. Sounds like it's been a great atmosphere around and at the stadium today.

Well done Man City.

Yep, I know I always sound negative on here but is it any wonder? We are seriously lacking that little bit of luck.

I guess it's only the bigger FA Cup and European finals where we're guaranteed to win a shootout

Well if Man City finish in the top four or finish fifth it will free up a place

I'm not gonna say Sturridge had a great game but I feel for him here. Clearly cares about what happens, despite what some people claim.

Sturridge was crying as he went to collect his loser's medal. I hope that shows it means something special to him to play for LFC.

Had a quiet game but not helped by lack of and a poor supply.

Wondering if Origi should've started with Sturridge on the bench.

never doubted sturridge and his desire to play for liverpool. all that he was refusing to play BS was embarrassing and any fan who helped spread that rubbish should feel like an idiot.

Hindsight is wonderful isn't it? Of course Sturridge should've started. Supply line was poor. Hope it's better midweek.
