Thanks - no great surprise it was the 2006 vintage of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - probably needed another couple sent off to affect things

Pfft! I was just about to ask if anyone knew how come Suarez was at Melwood today?

Please tell me Klopp has nabbed him!? I can still dream.....

I reckon Suarez is probably a bit bored at Barcelona, to be honest. Where's the challenge? The only competition is who can score the most each game. He should think about coming back to us. Getting Liverpool back towards the good times is something he could really get his teeth into....

... sorry.

I don't think it'll be too long before he bites the bullet and comes back to us, we will be pre-warned anyway, he always has a nibble when he wants a move.

I'm sure the medals, trophies, playing alongside arguably the greatest player to play the game and living in Barcelona is a real bummer.

I bet he really misses all the attention he used to get from the British media, too! It's a fad, a phase he's going through. He'll come come to us for a second bight at the PL soon enough.

I actually do think he could come back but at 29 I wouldn't say much time left.

Nah. We tend to keep on good terms with our ex-players and managers (Hodgeson excepting) but comebacks are a rare thing. I'm hard pressed to think of anyone since Rush, actually. There must be some, probably blindingly obvious (I don't count Kenny), but my mind is blank.

Well Fowler and Bellamy are the more recent ones.

Craig Bellamy for one, like you though, sure there's more,

I'm just so dammed slow these days!

Couldn't have told you Bellamy, TBH. Fowler came to mind but I wasn't sure. Was that when he went off to Australia?

Regarding Suarez it would come down to whether he feels he has achieved everything possible at barca and wants the challenge of the Premier League again. No chance he would join another English side but he is 29 so not much time left.

Would have to happen in 2017 at the latest.

Staunton, Aurelio, Lambert... Fowler re-signed in January 2006 - essentially a Rafa PR move.

Didn't catch it but excited about the Ojo news - will go and watch the highlights, so thanks. As for Teixeira, unquestionably very talented but maybe his stamina, lack of physicality and tendency to fade in and out of games gas counts against him given he's already 23. I know a Brentford fan who was less than impressed with him before he blossomed a bit more at Brighton. I'd like to see more of him before making a definitive judgement but I suspect we won't. He'll do well in Italy but suits Spain even more.

Watched him earlier on LFCTV, and he sure does look sharp, definitely one to keep along with Stewart, and possibly Smith. I know a good clear out will be due this Summer, and a lot will depend on if we are/are not in Europe as to the numbers.

For any player who wants to stay, now is the time to shine as bright as you can, or you will be gone.

I was not aware Tex had any link to Brentford but have checked - it seems he played 2 games for Brentford in a loan which last less than a month - as a stoppage time substitute and 21 minutes as a sub in another game when BFC were slipping down the league - hardly fair to judge him on that I would say by you or your friend. Whereas for BHA he played almost the whole season and won their player of the season award - slightly different don't you think? - which shows he can do it in English football. I stand by my views on both Tex and Ojo as expressed in post 6449.

2 other completely unrelated points
1) Great to see the legend that is Luis Suarez back at Melwood today. Imo all LFC fans should love the guy.
2) CPFC and the pen is getting daft - petitions to get LFC docked points and Benteke banned I have said and still think it should not have been a pen but there have been far worse decisions made and yet it is the one involving LFC that is creating so much of a reaction. Also it is clear that a) Delaney did not get anywhere near the ball and b) there was contact so it is easy to see why a pen was given - and maybe it could have been right, It was certainly very debatable which is seen when you know Dermot Gallagher thought no pen whilst Howard Webb and Poll thought pen.

My point was that Brentford chose to cut short a loan deal because they couldn't give him enough opportunities - as he was already 20 at that stage, that suggests they weren't happy with something (Warburton conceded at the time he was obviously talented - as we all know - so it must've been another aspect that prevented him from securing a place in a struggling Championship side). If he was as fearless and assertive as Flanagan was at 20 I'm sure he'd have made a bigger impact. He evidently did progress at Brighton but the fact we are not giving him the opportunities and are seemingly prepared to let him leave suggests Klopp isn't happy with the all-round package over and above his pure ability. As he's closer to the player and sees him in training, I'm reluctantly going to trust his judgement. My fear is that he'll continue to nature as a player and we'd have missed out - but if he wants more first team football and Klopp isn't prepared to guarantee him that, this is only ending one way. At 23, I don't blame the player to be honest as we're stunting an obviously promising career. I hope it turns around for him somehow at Liverpool but at the moment it's not looking like it.

I remember seeing him play a game for Brentford on TV. Probably the one where he played 21 minutes. Don't remember him touching the ball and I think at the time Brentford completely didn't suit his style so maybe that's why they sent him back.

Pretty sure they were in League One that season too. He also made a premier league appearance for us later in the same season away at Fulham.

This is why I support the argument for the top teams in the PL to have B teams in league 2.

Players would get much better experience then playing U-21 football plus they would be still playing with the club they train at and play to the suited style of football.

Throwing talented players into lower league football clubs just to give them games doesn't work. Can actually end up hurting the player if it's a club that doesn't utilise the player properly.
