apparently because it wasn't mentioned in the refs report? Whether that means he saw it and thought nothing of it? Because surely if he didn't see it Uefa would act?
Bizarre as you say - to think Markovic got a 4 game ban for a hand in the face of a player whilst realistically just holding him off and Fellaini gets no ban for a deliberate elbow, Uefa as bad as tha FA!

Not really a shame though. As you say he'll be a success somewhere sometime, not at Liverpool. Watford are a good fit for him I'd say.

I see the re-arranged derby date has Everton fans hot under the collar

Seems Vincent Kompany is injured again. With that whatever chances we have of sneaking fourth have just increased.

Looking at the table it's WHU I'm most worried about. Apart from away at Chelsea this weekend they've got a relatively easy run in with home games against Utd & Arsenal the only other notably hard matches. Until we're actually within 3pts of 4th I'm going to discard it as a possibility. Lets get past Utd first in the EL.

They're a bit unpredictable though - would've been 3-0 down at Everton if it wasn't for a missed penalty. Then Everton go down to ten men and implode. They're heavily reliant on Payet who is tiring as the season goes on but obviously capable of moments of brilliance. It's really hard to predict if anyone will take advantage if City/Arsenal falter - we're at least showing some better consistently lately.

There's talk about Benteke going to West Ham with us paying his wages, or a part of them. Don't know where it's come from, the likes of This is Anfield shared the story. I'd like to think it's crap. If we have to sell him we should get a good price because there's no doubting his quality. With a team more suited to the way he likes to play he'll be dangerous. Again. I'd rather keep him than agree to a terrible deal like that. West Ham aren't poor, either, they won't need us to subsidise his wages.

Liverpool U21s take on West Ham United in the Barclays U21 Premier League Cup semi-final at Rush Green Stadium in Romford tonight, and you can watch the whole game live on LFCTV. .Kick-off is at 7pm.

Will give this one a look, Skrtel has been playing with the U21's and doing OK - don't know yet what the team tonight will be, but should be interesting, win this and they are in the final!

I don't see that happening either, pure speculation. I reckon Klopp will see what his options are at season end and decide if he can do anything at all worthwhile with Benteke. I still think he won't even be considering his options until he knows if we have Europe next season, and what he will need in the squad to cover all the bases.

I still think Benteke has it in him to be exceptional with us, and actually worry about letting him go - he's too good, we just have to find that 'good'!

Yes looks a lot better. I think it's a mixture of things. Firstly his not allowing himself to get dragged into wide positions. This is where lovren can be exposed. Secondly the shape of the side and the way the side presses sees the defense not have to resist so many attacks. You defend as a team and when that's right the defenders will look a lot better..

I think he'll only sell him if he has to, if he gets a good offer or needs the money/squad space for someone else.

If he did have to leave I don't want it to be to another Premier League club because he always scores against us, but he's good enough to play in the Premier League, and will want to stay in the Premier League. He'd fit in well at West Ham, so if they came in with a £20m offer we might consider it.

Reports saying Alberto Moreno is a doubt for tomorrow. Seems to have picked up a knock in training. Guess that'll mean Brad Smith at LB since Flanno can't play, and I don't know who we'd put at RB if we were to put Clyne there.

Probably explains why Brad Smith is missing from this U21 match (now in extra time btw). Skrtel is still battling on in it, and looks to be back to his bolshi super fit self. Good match!

Skrtel red carded!

Getting red carded in U21...nice way to announce your return!

Liverpool trained at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, ahead of Thursday’s Europa League second leg against Man United.

Manager Jurgen Klopp opted to have his squad train at the opponent’s stadium, treating the match as a regular European game – which is the opposite to what United did last week.

“When I heard we would play against Manchester United I decided we would come one day early,” he explained. “In a Europa League game it’s always like this.

“It’s not about feeling comfortable and sleeping at home. We had a few seconds in the hotel before we came here (to Old Trafford) and everything is okay: the room is okay, the bed is okay.

“The trip was a little different because we usually fly rather than go by coach but the rest is exactly like a normal European game.

“When I played with my former club in European tournaments I always enjoyed it to breathe the stadium and where you will be playing the next night.”

TIA

Some typical arrogance from United with Herrera saying they have "a better pitch, better grass and a better team" and LVG saying they can score 4.
With them playing City on Sunday it will be interesting to see how United approach this game, of course they would love to win this tie, but if they lose to City on Sunday their chances of qualifying for the CL via the PL will be almost gone.
If we score the tie will be virtually over, but if they're winning 1-0 with 15 minutes left it will be extremely tense.
Unfortunately I'll be at work when the match is being played, so I'll only be able to check the score at half time and full time.

Can't you use a score app on your phone to get goals etc? They're very good. Obviously if you're a heart surgeon, it could end in tears...

Doesn't seem to be any posts on it, not even a thread it seems, so here it is.

England squad's been announced for the Euros. It includes five Liverpool players: Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Daniel Sturridge.

It was kind of inevitable that Sturridge was going, and if it's a fit Sturridge you take him, but it doesn't fill me with confidence. Hodgson will also find a way to ruin Lallana. Milner's going, and will probably play, but he doesn't tend to shine for England, same for Henderson who'll also have injury concerns.

Just looking at the club breakdown:

Clubs represented in England squad:

Tottenham and Liverpool: 5 players
Everton: 3
Man City, Leicester, Arsenal and Southampton: 2
Chelsea, Man Utd and Stoke: 1

Really am hoping he doesn't use Studge, I fear for him under Hodgson tbh.

Need to take a look and see who else we have playing waste-of-time-and-space friendlies elsewhere too.

Strong rumours going around that Flanno has signed a new 3 year contract - hoping that is correct, and relieved that he hasn't had a lot of game time yet - or dear Roy would have dragged him off too!

Doh! That's a shame - same for small tablets and radios I assume. I hate being out of communication when Liverpool are playing - used to happen a few times when I went to the Far East (getting into Hearthrow and running into the newsagent to read the back page, falling asleep out there and waking up to scramble around for our result) - quite exciting in a way but not good for state of mind or nerves!

There's a banner on a bridge at the end of the M602 motorway in Salford saying "Murderers" with the date of the Hillsborough disaster on it. Some people have no class. Hopefully this doesn't inspire some Liverpool fans to retaliate or sing Munich songs. There's no place for that kind of stuff in football. The two matches should be remembered for footballing reasons not because of that stuff.
