A lot of players have a good one-off World Cup. Especially, when entering a dysfunctional first-team. He wasn't very productive prior to signing for Liverpool, nor after at club level.

I, too, saw a glimpse of a decent player. But from the clips I've seen over the last year at Lille, I haven't been impressed. But i'd gladly take him as back-up at the club over Lambert, Balotelli and Ings.

I know they always say never buy a player based on performances in world cups but I'm hoping under BR he'll turn into a top quality player. Whether it's this season I'm not sure. I would definitely take him and benteke over them.

Not sure we need more defenders. Seem to have a lot of numbers in defence”

Would only being in a defender if lovren is moved on. If not then don't see how there is any room for another CB.

Should Man a city have paid 49m for Sterling? To me prices for England based players are double what they should be. No one would complain if Benteke was a 16-17m signing.

It's not his fault that Villa put that price on him.

Could be a good signing. Only Aguero has scored more than him of the current PL strikers.

How many more players could come in realistically? I'm thinking if we get Benteke one more max.

Have to start selling.

Pedro as a replacement for Sterling.

Fantastic. Hope Suarez is telling him how good it is to play for Liverpool.

A striker for sure. ( I'd never heard of Rondon until last week)
A possible replacement for Sterling, but maybe Ibe will be given a few months to try and prove himself.

Then after that you're looking at the lesser possibilities: a left back if Enrique leaves ( Augustinsson was a rumour a few weeks ago and he'd certainly provide some competition to keep Moreno on his toes), and a defensive midfielder, hopefully to complement rather than replace Lucas ( Gary Medel now attractimg the media's attention for this spot)

You mean you'd be expecting us to lose? Now there's a surprise...

If reports are to be believed, both Firmino and Clyne chose us over United.

I thought sky news presenter said his favoured club would be Liverpool so if its true then move is as good as done.

With barca saying turan could go on loan for six months I wouldn't mind him till January.

Danny Ward had an excellent game in the Europa League tonight, another clean sheet for him.

If he is available on loan then I would be gutted if he joined another EPL club.

Can't see any CL club being interested as barca wouldn't allow him to play.

Starting 11 v Brisbane Roar:

Mingolet// Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Gomez// Lucas, Henderson, Milner, Lallana// Ings, Origi.

I'm guessing the 442 diamond, but it could possibly be a 433 with Lallana and Origi playing wider.

Sad to hear that. I'm old enough to remember watching him play for Plymouth Argyle.

Carra's being made to wear a Man United shirt on MNF by Neville after losing a bet.

Joe Gomez could be a big player for us. He's been the most impressive player out there in this friendly, his positional sense is spot on. And at left back, no less!

Quick question, if as now seems likely that you sign Benteke, where will be fit into your team?

Will he be first choice or be a sub when Sturridge is fit? Or will you play them both together?
