Looks like his holding back at times to me.

So, if Leicester, Spurs and Arsenal are top three, Man United finish 4th, City 5th and LFC 6th, but LFC win the Europa and City win the CL, Man United would be denied CL football next season but LFC and City would be in it alongside Leicester, Spurs and Arsenal.

That would be an amusing scenario.

Yeah, what you are saying seems to hold true. I'd happily accept any scenario that saw us return to the champions league.

Just read the highest position Liverpool could currently finish is first, and lowest is 19th. We're on 29 games, just 9 more games to go, sitting in 9th, and we could still either win the league or get relegated.

It's somewhat frustrating given that every team has been inconsistent this season*, and we haven't been able to capitalise at any point. We struggle to put any sort of run together at the moment.

Here's hoping my usual jinx works, and we'll now go 9 wins in a row.

*Leicester and Spurs aside..

A couple of the papers are claiming that PSG will go for Sturridge, in the summer. £45-50m is the touted fee.

Would you guys go for that? I'd snap their hands off, in your position.

The problem is, when fit, Sturridge is absolutely our best forward. Clinical, intelligent movement, energetic. He fits our style so well.

50 million is a lot for a player with his injury record though, and the club would look at it dispassionately. Sturridge himself doesn't seem happy at the moment, and you get a sense that Klopp is frustrated by it all.

Personally, I'd rather see the back of Balotelli and Benteke before Sturridge, but for that sort of money he probably goes.

Yeah, that's kind of how I was thinking.

Terrific player, no doubt, but his fitness record would make it a no-brainer, for me.

Hard to turn down that sort of money for a man with so many injuries in the last couple of years.

Separately, I didn't realise that Clyne will be 25 in a couple of weeks. I thought he was 21 or something!

Cant really see it. I see them pushing for Lewandowski

Alan cracker mentioned the link with Dortmund and their support over Hillsborough. I went to Wembley in 2013 when the champions league final was Dortmund vs Bayern and there were a group of Dortmund fans with banners showing their support for 'the 96' and they had collection buckets. It was impressive to see.

Would be a top signing for any club. I can't understand why he has been spoken about so often over the last few months as potential really leaving Bayern though.. Seems a pretty good place to be!

I think he would leave for Madrid. Paris not so sure but Madrid has that pull for everyone.

Germans don't have a great record with transfers to Madrid.... Khedira, Sahin...e.t.c.

Sahin is Turkish, but I'll class him as German for the sake of my argument.

Khedira did quite well for Real Madrid as did Ozil. I'll give you Sahin

He's Polish I know I didn't sleep well last night. What I was trying to say is Madrid don't have a great record with signing players from the Bundesliga..

I wasn't meaning they didn't do well, just that they never end up being seen as a success..

Oh, sorry!!

I think Ozil was seen as a success. It seems to be the same for Serie A players who venture over to Spain and vice versa. I mean Italian and Spanish nationals.

They weren't exactly sad to see him go. I really need some sleep. Many of my recent posts here haven't made much sense.

No doubt he was a success. He had the most assists in European football at Madrid. He was class.

He was sold simply to make way for James Rodriguez.

18 injuries / 614 days on the sidelines since 2013... if a club was willing to part with £45m for his services I would go ballistic if we said no.

That would be the biggest no-brainer of all time. Even if he is our best option when fit. It's the 'when fit' part that is the issue.

For £45m-£50m it'd make the club at least consider their options, due to his injury record.

If we can secure a top class replacement, I'd take the money. Having him as our go to striker these days is like a perpetual game of Russian roulette. He's supremely talented but £50m could buy us someone with far more resilience. A regrettable situation but we just can't afford to rely on him given his recent fitness record, especially (as seems likely) Benteke is not part of our future plans either. Finding that replacement is not going to be easy but would be helped if we could somehow get into the CL next season.

Thank you!! - I could lie and say I knew of that but i admit i did not but it does tie in with what i have heard about Dortmund and how they feel over LFC and Hillsborough.

Agree with that - I would prob sell Sturridge for 45m for the reasons stated but I would like to think that prior to doing so things would have been put firmly in place for his replacement cos like has been said here Benteke is prob going (especially after his quotes this week - I cannot understand why I have not been picked!! - well maybe its cos you keep playing poorly, missing sitters and not pressing as we want you to do!!). That would still leave Ings and Origi on our books as strikers plus Firmino as a 'false striker' and I rate both of them but we would need at least 1 other striker too and hopefully somewhere JK has lined up a gem - for whom we could pay big money if needed. But do not spend big just for the sake of it if we can get better cheaper
