There's definitely strikers in the premier league that would improve us.

The Dutch 'striker' you are thinking of is Quincy Promes, and he's a winger.”

I don't know what will happen with us and midfield/wide positions next season. Assuming Goeze comes here are the names we have to pick from

Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Goeze, Milner, Henderson, Lucas, Ibe, Markovic, Gruijc, Allen and maybe even Stewart (who could be a dark horse to be a significant player for us in the future), Rossiter, Branagan, Texeira, Ojo = 16 names (+ any others we bring in) and I may even have forgotten some.

Stating the obvious - they can't all play - and so it is likely some will move on or to be more precise will be moved on. Given all the possible options there |i just do not see Moreno coming into the equation and still think to let him go would not be a bad decision as he would bring in a fair bit of money and to me it would not weaken the squad that much.

I also stick by my view that I know of no PL striker who would come to us who would improve us and that is why i said the scouts need to look and stats and identify strikers and others elsewhere who are doing well but are not at top clubs, draw up a list of 5 or 6 then watch them play and find the best fit for LFC. I did know the Dutch players name but do not know that much about him - sorry for my ignorance - but he is perhaps the type we could consider.

The 3 biggest needs for me are a striker, a LB and a keeper and I am happy to leave it to the committee to decide who as i do not know enough about it altho given their record I do worry over their competence - lets hope JK can be a wise voice in pointing us in the right direction as he surely must have good knowledge of what is out there.

There are certain players that come in for stick, Lucas was one, Hendo is another, Moreno and Benteke are the popular ones at the moment. Moreno has ability. He plays in the way that the manager wants him to.

If he cuts out the moments of defensive frailty, he could be an awesome player for us.

I remember a few players in the past who were shaky initially, Carragher being one of them, Henchoz another.

It's too soon to write him off.

It's a different thing saying there are no premier league strikers that would improve us, to there aren't any that would sign. That being said, I disagree with you on that too.

If Benteke and Balotelli go as expected, I see no reason why someone like, say Ighalo wouldn't come to Anfield.

April Fools day innit!

I've always thought that today would be the perfect day to announce something true, just to watch people dismiss it. Imagine if we there was a story, from someone like 90mins no less, announcing we've agreed a pre-contract agreement with Marco Reus, and it actually turned out to be true.

In what I'm hoping turns out to be an April Fools joke, looks like we missed out on Sadio Mané, before he went to Southampton, because he didn't meet some statistical criteria. Not goals or assists, though. The REAL important things like passes and tackles.

To think Brendan had to put up with this kind of stuff.

I think Brendan got a really raw deal from the get go, maybe to do with the fact he was still deemed to be a bit of a 'rookie' manager when he came to us. Having the TV cameras snooping on his every move initially for that docuprog I'm sure he really didn't want or need, but as it was agreed on before he arrived he had to grin and bear it.

I think that the committee over-ruled his every move as much as they could - I still have no clue who they are, does anyone? I hope he gets a good position, and get's to prove he's a very competent manager, we know that with the right buys, his buys (not his Marios etc) he'd have done a lot better for us. He probably got sacked for kicking up over the options he was given on buying, Klopp will not allow that to happen and will ensure he gets his full say.

Well because he was considered a rookie they'd be able to put such demands on him. Klopp's a much higher profile, and a more commanding figure. He is the boss, and he'll be respected as such. Matip is one of his players, I think Grujic is, we're going in for Gotze and that's definitely on him, as would be Ter Stegen if we got him. With Brendan, at the start the likes of Joe Allen and Fabio Borini were his because he had connections with them. But he did seem to have it rough with all the politics he will have had to put up with.

The committee were Rodges, Ayre, Barry Hunter, Dave Fallows and Michael Edwards.

Edwards is the director of technical performance or something.

I was reading that this morning on Facebook before I started work and I'd forgotten it was April 1st! I was sniggering at it the whole time, thinking 'Please don't do this, Jurgen' until the I read the line:

“I want us to play a blander, duller style of football in 2016/17 and David will be perfect for that.”

That's when I suddenly realized it was an AF's joke

Christian Benteke's out for a month with a knee injury. Unlucky for him, his chances of fighting for his future in this squad, and for the Euros, have taken a huge blow.

Thanks for that info, doesn't really leave me a lot wiser mind!

Now onto our man Klopp, the more I see and hear of him the more I love the guy - this gem today had me grinning widely -

But while Klopp hasn’t yet given up hope of qualifying for the Champions League just yet, he believes this won’t affect his movements in the summer window.

Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, the German said he was looking for players interested in “pushing the train, not jumping on the running train.”

“Maybe 80 percent we are not in the Champions League next year,” he said.

“So if I would speak to a player now and he would tell me ‘if you were playing in the Champions League next year, I would be really interested’ then I would put the phone down from my side.

“I always tell players if when you are 35 or 36 and look back on your career and you think about the one year you didn’t play Champions League then you are really a poor boy.

“There are so many things you can do and reach if you go together with the team.

“You can qualify for the Champions League, play Champions League, maybe win it or whatever.

“It is a much more satisfying thing than all the rest. That is what I would say.

“It is pushing the train, not jumping on the running train. That is what we need here.

Made me grin because it's exactly what I feel about buying in new players. Those that jump straight into a CL team are literally just jumping onto the bandwagon - to pick up the glory and salary the team fought hard for the previous season. Sure, there are some that were so dammed good they could do that, ie: Ronaldo, Suarez, Bale, and I have no problem with that kind of quality going into the best. But, when you get players that will come in and work to make the team high quality - those are the ones you need most.

I hope Klopp succeeds, and brings in some real fighters for us.

Hunter and Fallows were scouts at Manchester City. Hunter was our chief scout, Fallows was head of recruitment.

Why we needed two people effectively doing the same role I'll never know..?

I like Klopp's attitude to signings, and agree completely with it.

Confirmed Team v Tottenham:

Mingolet// Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno// Can, Henderson, Milner// Lallana, Coutinho, Sturridge.

Subs: Ward, Toure, Skrtel, Allen, Smith, Ibe Origi.

They need to be on it tonight, up against what looks like Spurs strongest team.

Wasted one on one chance from Sturridge. We've looked like the keeper and defence have a case of the yips again so far in this game.Hope that doesn't end up biting us.

Sturridge is too sacred to exert himself. Or just lazy. I suspect the former because of his injuries of late. Needs to get past that.

In the past few games he has done very little to be honest.
