good performance across the board!

played well in all areas I think.

game is still 50/50 for me. away goal I dont see as an advantage as Dortmund more than capable of scoring at anfield.

Good performance, good result.

Well played tonight

Very happy with that considering they are classed as in the top 5 of world club teams, not what I dreamt we'd get.

Roll on the welcome to Anfield!

Thought Lovren, Sakho and Joe Allen were superb.

Before the game we'd all have taken a 1-1 so got to be happy altho in a way we could have won - and should they score first at Anfield that puts the cat among the pigeons. But really the tie is one everyone expected us to lose - maybe we even did ourselves - and now we stand a decent chance of getting through. Mind you even if we do that does not mean we have won the trophy - one game at a time and all that.

Best today? - CBs, Clyne, Origi and Allen probably. My biggest moan? - our ball retention skills at times and the way when we are trying to keep the ball often it finds its way back to Mig who then hoofs it and we lose the ball. It'd be bad if we had a keeper who was good off the ground but that is one of Mig's poorest areas but really I am nit picking cos overall you have got to be delighted with that result and performance - and wasn't the atmosphere fantastic - a credit to football

Brilliant match and so much respect to the BD fans. Yes it is a shame that once again we couldn't hold on to the lead, but overall we played really well. I know that Hendo has to have a scan to see how bad his injury is, but other than that I have no complaints. Roll on Sunday against Stoke.

Reading other threads it's amazing how often we come up against pisspoor opposition when we get a good result lol

Yes, I've just posted a comment about this phenomenon on the Neutrals thread. There's a lot of ignorance around when it comes to the effect the opposition's tactics have on the way a team plays or are allowed to play.

Henderson looks to be out 6-8 weeks. He'll miss the rest of the season and will be a doubt for the Euros. His form this season hasn't really warranted a place in the Euros and non-LFC fans, and even many LFC fans don't really appreciate him but especially in an England shirt so it'd be for the best if he doesn't go. This knee injury will stop him playing and might give him a chance to recover more from his heel injury.

I can imagine Drinkwater or Noble taking his place in the England squad, and if he gets fit in time it increases the chance of Wilshere going.

There's a picture going around of Marco Reus wearing a Liverpool top as a kid in 2001 that's got Liverpool fans jizzing with excitement.

...he was a mascot.

Personally I hope Hendo uses this time to get fit and healthy, It's a blow to miss the euro's but he has been carrying injuries for the last few seasons and this has presented an ideal time to rest up and heal.

Today's team selection is interesting - especially in central midfield with no Hendo or Lucas (injury) or Can (suspension) - so I'd prob go with Allen and Stewart. Allen has done well recently and Stewart I think could have future with us so it would be good to give him an outing when it does not matter too much. I read he is fit again and working incredibly hard to improve himself so it does sound like he has the right attitude and would not let us down altho whether he is good enough is the big question but we will only find out by playing him. Then I think who to play up front - Studge or Origi and think why not put both in - but when you add Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho to play behind the strikers we have 7 players for 6 spaces. Dilemma!! I would prob leave Lallana out today to give him a bit of a rest before the big game on Thursday and maybe put him on for Firmino later on. Also if poss we should try to get Ibe on the pitch at some point today to try to up his confidence and give him the message that we still believe in him. Defense wise i would play Flanno and Clyne as the FBs with Sakho and :Lovren central.

|I think the key thing today is to win - even if it is a scrappy 1-0 - which keeps us in with an outside chance of 5th and maybe even 4th if results go in our favour

Since I posted that I have had a thought - I have forgotten Milner and the truth is that he is bound to play and i expect that would be at Stewarts expense in my team. Tbh I would still keep the same team as i want to see Stewart given a chance but realistically I cannot see it happening - maybe he could get 20 minutes or so at the end of the game - lets hope so.

People talk about the money we blew on Andy Carroll but I alwaysty thought BR was premature in selling him

Nice to see Ojo and Stewart in there. It's a strongish side while still being conservative with next Thursday in mind. Skrtel might lower my lifespan by a few years today, though!

Looks like I was a little late to this one.

TIA must be popular around these parts.

Over the moon to see those two in mind, and we have a strong bench if anything goes amiss.

Sorry, but his goal return was poor and his presence meant we played a certain way that was too direct. We couldn't keep him as a Plan B given the investment and the fact we were offered half of that mammoth transfer fee back. Not forgetting his injury record since he left.

Very easy to say a couple of years down the line, the day after he score a hat trick... It never looked like working out for him at Liverpool.. He was too injury prone, the ridiculous price tag was a burden for him and the move to a club with that expectation was too early for him
