Rodgers confirmed that gomez will not be going out on loan and will challenge for the first XI this season.
Yes, you said earlier

With Benteke deal appearing to be done surely our other strikers (Mario, Fabio, Rickie) must know their time at the club is at an end, granted they should already have known that but we really cant have 7 strikers at the club! Time to have a "flood sale" with them.

Yeah andt the fact everybody will know we need to get rid of them means we won't get that much for them either.

Lambert: interest from West Brom, possibly from Bournemouth and Villa, having just moved his family up from the south coast, he might not be overly keen to go back down again, so a Midlands club could be his best option in the PL. We might end up with less than £2m for him.
Borini: the so called caged lion who keeps turning down deals because he wants to run down his contact and reap the benefits of being a free agent. Some interest in Italy, but even if he does accept a deal we'll be lucky to see £5m for him.
Balotelli: rumours of interest from Fenerbahce but player wants to return to Italy... where no-one wants to pay him £100k a week. A loan deal seems most likely and we may need to still keep paying a % of his wages.

I am very excited for Gomez. We've had some defenders in the past with a bit of potential that never came through- Kelly, Insua, Wilson, Hobbs, San Jose, Ayala, Robinson etc, but Gomez really does look like the real deal.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him and John Stones at the heart of the England defence sometime within the next 3-4 years.

Ings has looked pretty sharp so far which is promising (but then again so did Aspas).

Milner looks like he's played for us for years. He's slotted right into the midfield and will give us relentless energy in there with Hendo. We just need a clever holding player to sit behind them. Or perhaps Allen will be entrusted with that role.

We seem to have played 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 in these friendlies so far, I wonder if those are the formations BR is planning to use most this season.

I think we are defiantly going 4 at the back which is a good thing.

On transfers compared to other clubs I think Chelsea really show the difference. They can sign a Felipe or cuadrado for big sums and if it doesn't work out it doesn't hurt them massively.

If we spend that money on players they need to be a success.

Celtic player receives 6-match ban for biting a player. Look at what you started, Luis! :P

Gerrard and Suarez together, with Luis in his Barcelona kit, and Stevie in his LA Galaxy
kit. It's not right! They should both be wearing red!

Also, John Arne Riise got a YNWA tattoo:

That photo just seemed so wrong this morning, and yet somehow so right. Massive miss to the club, and for a moment I was incredibly sad, but the connection between them will always be Liverpool - no matter where they are and who they play for now.

It's just in the rumour section so have my doubts. We have enough players of that ilk right now.

Liverpool FC transfer rumours: Reds set for crushing blow in £46million Marco Reus pursuit

By Chris Beesley

Liverpool are to receive a crushing blow in their hopes of making Marco Reus their new record signing with Real Madrid set to beat them to the signature of the German international.

After pocketing a fee that could eventually reach £49million for Raheem Sterling, the Reds were eager to immediately reinvest their windfall on the Borussia Dortmund ace.

Brendan Rodgers has been plotting a gargantuan £46million deal for the 26-year-old but bein Sports claim the Spanish giants Real Madrid have pipped ahead of the Reds and arch rivals Barcelona in the queue for his signature.

Reus is one of Europe’s hottest properties despite struggling with injuries last season and other top Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have also been monitoring his situation.

He scored 11 goals in 29 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign and has netted nine times in 25 outings for the German national side.

Dortmund confirmed today that Reus has picked up another injury during a training session but they are not expecting a long lay-off.

Their statement read: “Marco Reus has a slight ligament problem. It’s nothing serious.”

New Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling scored three minutes into his debut in a friendly against Roma in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old, who joined City for £49m from Liverpool on 14 July, ran through on goal before finishing as City took an early 1-0 lead at the MCG.
Sterling started on the left side of a front three that included David Silva and teenage forward Kelechi Iheanacho.
City are playing in the International Champions Cup in Australia.
Sterling became the most expensive English player ever when he made the move from Liverpool to City.

Considering your last two paragraphs together, Can should be free to play the holding role, yes?

I've predicted he'll get at least 15 for City this season.

It's not all bad - if it helps City takes points off of Chelsea, United, Arsenal and Spurs - and Everton, I'll be happy. We'll have inside knowledge on how to unhinge him when he plays us hopefully.

The more I think about our away schedule at the start of the season, though, the more it scares me. The flip side is that if we start well, the last two thirds of the campaign should be a breeze!

Maybe, but I'm not sure I would trust him to do the "holding" part. He likes to get forward, does our Can.

I don't know if anyone is interested, but Stevie G will be playing against Suarez tomorrow in LA. Not sure if it will be televised or not, or even when, but if you're keen you can search that out.
