Where's Danny Ings in his comeback? I thought he was close to full training? Could be useful if so.
Sadly I don't think Ings will be risked again till next season after such a nasty injury, not sure if he's in full training again yet. Last time I heard it was just light training

He may utilise Benteke if it becomes a problem of game time with Sturridge, we do still have him hanging around so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him on the subs bench. If on a comfy win he could give Daniel that one hour play, then off.

Any news on Ings lately? Last I saw was a while back where he was flat out trying to get full fitness back, but he did look good.

For all that, I really am disgusted at that foul on Origi, and that idiot players attitude coming off, hope he gets his comeuppance very soon!
I hope we just play Firmino or Sturridge upfront. We don't play well with Benteke but I agree he should be on the subs bench when fit.

Agreed on the tackle, it was disgusting but these things happen in football and it's best not to dwell on them.

They don't appear to be a high scoring side so if we are sensible in the first leg (ideally nicking an away goal) we should go through with a win at home - got to watch Bakambu though who has scored most of their goals in the Europa League (nine).

Let's hope Sakho and Lovren deal with him as they did with Lukaku, although to be fair Lukaku was pretty isolated and starved of service.
Thanks for responding, that's interesting hopefully it is not as close as the Dortmund game. Man just gutted about the Origi and Can injury, but we have Sturridge so we should win. Wonder what team Klopp will put out against Newcastle, I still think we have a chance of getting 4th spot.

Wow total domination 😁

What does everyone think of Villarreal, I see they are 4th in the La Liga. I've never really watched them play, should we beat them comfortably?
They're a very good side, not many of the top teams have won at El Madrigal this season. Lost their last two away games though so I'd say a performance similar to Borussia Dortmund away from home, nick an away goal and then look to hit them on the counter at home. Out of the 3, I'd have preferred to have played Sevilla on this year's form.

Sorry for that delay on my post Sloth, didn't ignore you, I'm just a bit slow is all!

We have left to play now:

Saturday, 23 April 2016
15:00Liverpool - NewcastleEPL

Thursday, 28 April 2016
20:05Villarreal - LiverpoolUEL

Sunday, 1 May 2016
12:00Swansea - LiverpoolEPL

Thursday, 5 May 2016
20:05Liverpool - VillarrealUEL

Sunday, 8 May 2016
16:00Liverpool - WatfordEPL

Wednesday, 11 May 2016
20:00Liverpool - ChelseaEPL

Sunday, 15 May 2016
15:00West Brom - LiverpoolEPL

The travelling to Villareal and Swans within a few days could be an issue, then at least we have 3 home games on the trot IF we are still in with any fighting chances. Hopefully, we will have another match to add to this lot, but I don't want to go there really, not yet!

On paper and on current form we should get the last PL matches, I don't see anything there that's scary - apart from facing the new Toon manager I'm not too worried.

It doesn't matter what we think of it - it's what the people in Outer Mongolia, Mali and Bolivia think...

We figured out we don't need anymore backup strikers.

(I won't take credit for that one)

Sakho explains why he went over to Kolo to celebrate.

"Kolo told me this morning I would score again so that's why when I scored I thought of him and ran to celebrate with him," he told the official site.

Haha.

I'd prefer giving him a go than Skrtel at the moment, in all seriousness.

Toure alongside him if Loven/Sakho are being rested.

Good to see Kolo's influence on the squad there.

Regarding the story about Michael Owen getting a role as the first official international ambassador, my opinion on that isn't affected by him going to Man United, not too bothered about that to be honest. It's more to do with my thoughts on his suitability for the role. He's not exactly charismatic. He's just not someone you'd pick if you got asked.

I think a lot of people being against the appointment will base it on him playing for Man United.

I agree, he's about as interesting as paint drying.

I suppose at least they know he won't be too controversial, and he'll certainly be known internationally.

I am one of those who is totally against it.

Whoever has made this appointment either does not know how the fans feel or does not care - and whichever of those is true does not sit well with me.

I am not as anti him as some but I do think he is not a LFC man and the LFC brand (hate that term) abroad should be represented by people who are LFC men - of which there are literally hundreds.

You want me to name some? - Carragher, McAllister, Molby, Hyppia, Hamann, Barnes, Fowler, Alan Kennedy, Litmamen, Berger, Agger, Henchoz, Riise, Bellamy, Grobbelaar, Rush, Johnston, Smicer, Heggem, McDermott, Whelan, Rob Jones .... and many more - all of these would have been more suitable than Owen as they love LFC and have shown that over the years. Now yes I know some of them may not be available to accept the job but surely someone of that kind of standing within LFC should be chosen over the hated figure of \Michael Owen.

Owen was at the club for around 15 years from the age of 9 to 23 with the club making him the player he was and then he repaid that by turning his back on them and ended up by joining their biggest rivals saying at the time he did that it was his dream to play for them. Not a true LFC man as i say.

My main problem with Owen was with the way he left, running his contract down then going for pennies.

Seems Origi is going to be out for the remainder of the season, might also be a doubt for the Euros. If Sturridge can remain fit then we at least have him, especially in Europe. Benteke might have a chance to do something now.

Steven Caulker's season might not be over afterall!

Wasn't McAllister already offered a role when Rodgers went? Fowler is already employed as an ambassador.

I agree in thinking Owen is a strange appointment and again its another example of the board not really understanding or taking into account the feelings of the fans.

On tomorrow's game time to rest players?

I'm thinking a side like:

Ward

Randall
Skrtel
Toure
Smith

Stewart
Allen
Milner

Ojo
Firmino
Ibe

Resting Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Lallana, Coutinho and Sturridge

To rub salt in the wound, in a statement to the press he said: "As a Liverpool fan I am honoured and delighted to have been asked to play this international role for the club. Liverpool FC is the world’s greatest football family and it’s great for me to be able to represent the club in an official capacity once again.”

When we didn't want him back there were supposedly three clubs after him: Hull, Everton and Man U. His reasoning for going where he went?

"I could have gone to Hull I suppose, but in my mind I had to play at the best level possible. Liverpool didn't want me, so I signed for Manchester United."

It doesn't bother me as such that he played for them, it bothers me more how he refers to himself as a Liverpool fan. Takes a very strange kind of fan to play for one of your most heated rivals.

As for his appointment as an international ambassador, I can only presume that his role on the Premier League's international TV feed is something to do with it. On the (admittedly pretty rare of late) weekends he doesn't appear on BT Sport, he can be found as a regular studio pundit alongside John Dykes and Andy Townsend for Premier League Productions so he's still a well known face in the likes of South Africa, Asia and the Indian sub-continent courtesy of that.

I'm sure Owen isn't the first or last Liverpool 'fan' to play for Utd. Frankly far too much is made of it. If he'd turned down Liverpool to play at OT then fine, but we didn't want him so we've got no right to be critical of where he did go to play. Using it as a reason to be critical of his appointement is IMO poor. If he can do the job effectively then that's all that matters. However, I reserve judgement on that point. To be brutally honest I've no idea what the role entails.

I can't be too critical of that since, well for starters he was said to be an Everton fan before he joined Liverpool (we do like our Evertonians at Liverpool!), and well we didn't take issue with us playing for Everton's rivals, and Joe Allen is said to be a Man United fan, and he's becoming a bit of a cult hero recently (good thing, too). Rio Ferdinand and John O'Shea were said to be Liverpool fans and they also played for Man United. My 5 year old nephew (Liverpool fan) might end up in Everton's youth academy if he does as well as his coaches think he will.

Owen going to Man United bothered me when it happened but now it doesn't affect me too much.

I don't think anybody is using it as a reason to be critical of his appointment; it's just a general discussion.

The real reason to be critical of his appointment is that he has the personality of a wet sponge.

There's at least one person on here who's admitted it's the main reason they don't like it.

I take issue with this, he did after all win The Sports Personality of the Year in 1998
- so he must have had one when he played for us, though where in hell it is now.....?

Seems Klopp's a fan of Kolo, we might be seeing Kolo at Anfield next season.

He also likes Rafa and wants Liverpool fans to cheer him because of what he achieved at Liverpool, knowing how we feel about him. Classy guy.

Don't think anyone needs to tell the Anfield faithful how to treat a returning manager. Did Rafa's Chelsea play at Anfield or is this his first time back as the opposition?

The game he managed in the 12/13 season was at Anfield.
