Hillsborough inquest verdicts tomorrow - 11 a.m. I believe.

I just hope that whatever is decided that we as the LFC fan base don't end up falling out among ourselves over it - I fear we might as some will want draconian punishments on those seen to have failed and if that is not the verdict I worry that there will be a bad reaction from certain sections of our support. Justice is talked about - but different people will have different ideas on what that means.

I was reading a LFC FB page earlier and saw a picture of Thatcher, McKenzie and Duckenfield with words underneath about their guilt ...etc - almost implying that they needed to be punished. Thatcher is dead, McKenzie was not called to the inquest as far as I know (even tho for me his role was one of the worst of anybody) and so that leaves Duckenfield. Yes he was a disgrace on the day and has spent 26 years seeking to avoid taking any responsibility for what went on but for me there was more than one man who was 'out of order' and so it would be wrong for him alone to take the rap.

As I have said before for me I do not care that much about what happens to Duckenfield and the like - what is more important is for the real truth to be out on the public record and I think it will be after tomorrow. In fact for there to be more trials and sitting in courts for the families I am not sure there is any will for that as I think we have almost had enough of the legal process and once the truth comes out tomorrow I would be happy to draw a line under it - but I think many will disagree with me.

All in all tomorrow and the fall out from the verdict will be interesting - oh and btw another strongly held opinion of mine is that Phil Scraton and Kenny Dalglish should both be knighted for their roles in the 27 year fight - but I am not sure whether that will happen.

Inquests can't punish. They aren't criminal courts.
It will be up to the DPP to decide whether the findings of the inquest should lead to individuals being brought to trial.
But I agree, it will be a difficult day. I taught in Liverpool for 25 years and knew some of the bereaved families. I heartily wish peace for them. And that they should be the focus of care and attention above all.

I joked a couple months ago about Tony Pulis (or was it Palace? Not sure, I'll go with Pulis) enjoying ruining a good title challenge. Looks like he just did it again. Spurs, like us, didn't have the title in our hands but we needed to win to keep the fight alive and put pressure on our rival, and like Crystal Palace, West Brom have ruined what little chance Tottenham had of winning the league. I think Leicester just need a point to secure the title.

It just seems incredible tho that after 27 long years full of heart break and so much frustration that we have reached where we have reached - it will be a monumental day for the families for sure

I can't see any individual charges being brought, especially when the inquest jury couldn't agree unanimously on unlawful killing.

They stated on Sky news that it is more than likely that a criminal investigation will begin as the majority of 7-2 agreed on Unlawful killing.

I will be very surprised if Duckenfield is charged with manslaughter.

As much as I want to see him behind bars for lying about it all these years, he has got blood on his hands, but would be surprised if they charged him.

My Twitter timeline today contains little else but comments about Hillsborough and the Inquests. What an emotional day. I have cried, keep weeping and don't really know how to feel. There's so much we could all say, but the fact that the truth is finally legally acknowledged says it all really, at least for today.

We should all offer sincere thanks to the families, survivors, Club, players, managers, supporters, fund raisers and campaigners wherever they're from, who've backed #JFT96 and pursued this result for so many years without giving up.

Glad to see the that justice has finally been done today.

I'm not a Liverpool fan but I am a football fan, and like many other fans I've always known what really happened that day, but it's good to see it finally being recognised by this inquest.

There may well be some H&S charges bought against Sheffield Wednesday, just so that the CPS can make it look like they've done something, but as you say, Duckenfield will likely get away with it. They'll be no desire from the CPS to prosecute either a retired high ranking copper after 27 years or South Yorkshire police as a whole. David Cameron will want this all to go away as quickly as possible, and I suspect appropriate pressure will be applied to the CPS.

Don't be too sure, bear in mind it was Cameron who instigated this inquiry, Labour outright refused to help in any way, this isn't quite over yet.

What an emotional day for the families, survivors and the club. The head of a football supporters group summed it up for me on the radio earlier. Football supporters and the rest of the world are in awe of your long fight for justice over the last 27 years. Peace at last for the 96 souls and other LFC supporters who were so unjustly blamed and judged for lies printed and told about that dark the day when they were doing their very best to help.

It may be early into 2017 when the Crown Prosecution Service undertakes any further action. The relatives are being careful not to mention their views on this and we should probably remain quiet on this forum about the process, as we have been during the inquest.

No surprise sadly, there's some strange delusion going on when their points are being shot down time after time and they keep repeating the same nonsense.

I sincerely hope they never attend any large scale public event that has the lack of foresight in planning and operation, that the authorities produced that day.

Some people seem to be set in their ways, they have their opinions and thoughts and aren't willing to change. I'm assuming most of these people haven't been updated, are still basing their thoughts on the lies that were told and aren't willing to accept those lies as lies.


I'm not sure what you mean by that, if that's a dig or not. You've made a few digs at me in the past so I can't tell.

It's a thread discussing the verdict, and despite the news today some people refuse to accept it, or continue to blame the fans, or want to claim the families are just after money. I thought to mention it in this thread to mention my annoyance with it, I have no interest in touching that thread with the idiots in there.

It's staggering just how unwilling to listen some people are. They cling to their ignorance and prejudice like it's a life jacket.

We should all be grateful to the families today. Even leaving aside the tragic deaths, they have fought and fought to uncover the enormous cover up perpetrated by the state.

I remember the day very well, I was celebrating a birthday and was looking forward to the semi final. I was in another country and remember the breaking news and confusion as to what was happening and comments very soon after by Lennart Johannsen which were totally wrong and unjustified.

I'm very happy today for those families and other close friends and campaigners who have conducted themselves with such dignity, determination and spirit. It's a tragedy that it has taken so long, and that those who lied through their teeth have and will get away without punishment.
