We are 100% going in the right direction under Klopp. It's an anagram of PL Kop for goodness sake! Can't wait until next season, irrespective of what happens in the Europa League. Once the manager gets some more of the players he wants and we also have a full set of functioning strikers for the first time in two years, we'll really compete.

His so called failings can be laid at the door of the entire transfer committee.

As an example, what exactly does Michael Gordon do? He essentially is a yes man for FSG..

Fallows and Hunter came in with big reputations, and for me, I don't see how a head of a recruitment and a chief scout are any different.

Michael Edwards is head of performance and technical analysis. Well my analysis is that he adds nothing to the transfer committee if he can't work out that Balotelli and Benteke don't fit our style.

Benteke has played around 25 games, and I'd be surprised if Balotelli played that many. It's too soon to write them off.

Fans wrote off Allen, Lucas and Firmino, but they've been key to the way we play at times.

I would be okay with those two leaving, however, if they stay, I won't be too upset.

As for the youngsters, you're writing them off after one defeat to Swansea? Presumably, they were fine when they were beating Stoke and Bournemouth?

Sadly, it hasn't yet worked out, but I think that there are subtle things he's doing that show glimpses of at least trying.

You're a perfectly balanced poster, but sadly this thread has been beset by negativity.

For me this is an exciting time. We have in Jurgen Klopp a manager capable of building a legacy.

He's already made two decent looking signings in Grujic and Matip, and the academy signing of Diego Lattie looks good too, with the academy now prioritising quality over quantity.

Alex Inglethorpe looks like he's building a core of players that should eventually progress.

Too often we've seen mercurial talent end up on loan forever, and then just disappear.

It's hard not to feel disheartened after a defeat to Swansea, especially the manner of the defeat, however, clearly, Klopp prioritised the Europa League game.

I am not that worried about the future under him..”

Excellent post Sebastian, this thread is desperate for posters like you to balance out the grumps - and we sure do seem to have a lot of them that declare they are fans.

Klopp is the best thing to happen to this club since - well, since we lost Suarez at least, and I have total faith in him to get the best possible results for us. Unfortunately, every other club will be trying to do the same - Sloth's top 6 has been blown to bits for next season - by what has happened in the last 24 hours, anyone can win this!

If we are out of Europe next season it won't be all bad, there is still plenty to play for, and it could be a time for Klopp to get precious time with his 'new' squad - the time he never got with this one.

Last time we weren't in Europe, we finished 2nd in the table, 2 points behind the winners. So it's not all doom and gloom if we fail to qualify.

I'd take that.

Season hasn't ended yet but that never deters the rumours!

Apparently, according to the Express, Antonio Conte will sanction Thibault Courtois to Liverpool.

Now that's a link I was never expecting!

Leicester City winning the Premier League on Monday kind of overshadowed a more important achievement. On Tuesday, Marko Grujic's Red Star Belgrade won their league title.

Nobody can ever answer this. FSG never wanted to lose him and for someone who is so bad at his job he manages to do ever so well from it.

His become the poster boy scapegoat for whenever the club fail to sign a player.

New Hillsborough documentary to be aired on television this Sunday

This does look really hard hitting but will be watching it.

I'll stick that onto record, and keep it. Sometimes you need to watch things like that twice to take it all in. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm confused. So you don't think it overly matters if we fail to make Europe next season (which means missing out on EL cup) as it may help us finish 2nd .....which only gives us Europe the following season and no cup?

Surely it matters very much to win this EL as it gives us CL football next season. Give me that any day of the week than losing tomorrow, missing out on CL next season and have a crack at PL with the realistic target of getting in the CL the following season. Sorry can't get my head around that!

I think it's called delayed gratification. Give a child the option of one cookie now or two after an hour's wait they take the one.

Surely it's better to win some silverware. Me want cookie now!

Wins at home under Klopp this season with two clear goals include Man City and Man Utd I think so it's doable against Villarreal. Squad has been hard hit in recent times so early goal would be nice to open things up.

I think the point is try to win the Europa for CL qualification but if we can't and fail to achieve European qualification via the league then it won't be the end of the world.

Yes that was obviously the point.

Not sure how it sailed over so many heads..

It would be better than 3rd (or below) and would represent a decent season but it still would not satisfy me - I want first - and until it cannot be achieved that should always be the aim.

If Leicester can do it why can't we under Klopp?

I'd have thought it obvious that we all want the club to win the league, win the Europa league, and generally be successful.

The point being made was that that some of us won't blow our brains out if the worst does happen.

Danny Ings took part in a full training session today at Melwood. Can't wait to see him back on the pitch.

Same goes for Joe Gomez. With the lack of depth England currently have at CB, you can't help but think young Joe would have been in with a shout had he continued his early season form.

Nice! This today too -

Jurgen Klopp has hinted Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson could return from injury in time to feature for England at this summer's European Championship.

Henderson suffered a knee injury in Liverpool's 1-1 Europa League draw against Borussia Dortmund in early April and was ruled out for up to eight weeks, making him a major doubt for the finals in France.

However, Klopp has revealed the midfielder is progressing well in his recovery from that injury and could regain full fitness prior to the tournament, providing a welcome boost for England manager Roy Hodgson.

The context was that someone said that the last time we did not qualify for Europe the next season we came 2nd - and you said you'd take that.

Obviously I know the way you are thinking - my point is that for me success is first and everything else is failure - and I want success for LFC not failure. I will never be able to see coming 2nd 3rd or 4th as success.

However to be a bit conciliatory I know what you mean and obviously as we will prob come 7th this season if next season we came 2nd we would all be pleased - but i will not start the season looking to come 2nd i start the season looking to come 1st - especially under this manager. I agree too with the point you make that no Europe would give us a better chance of a higher PL finish but I fully expect us to be in Europe next season whether CL or EL.

I am right in thinking aren't I that if MUFC win the FAC and finish 5th or 6th which i expect them to then the EL qualifiers would be the 5th, 6th and 7th - probably us, WH and MU.

Tonight is the first time in a while we've been the PL's last hope in Europe.
Will no doubt be nervy and probably take until about 90+5mins again but I think we'll get to the final.

A few more years in the Europa League and he'll be catching up to Carragher in no time!
