In 2001 we played EVERY possible game available to us.

Except we aren't getting a treble this season. And if we went for the FA Cup, we'd have played in three finals of the same three competitions we won in 2001, after playing more games.

The Europa cup in 2001 was covered in 13 matches then, takes 15 now, that's the difference. Had we got to the FA cup final this year we would be on 65 matches!

Poor Klopp didn't know what he was getting himself into when he agreed to take the job on.

For a not much to play for,it was a perfect result.
As for the amount of games, what's to moan about ? that's part of being a success.

You can play 38 league matches,+ lose two cup matches - total 40
Who the hell would want that

An excellent programme which i recorded on Sky+ - and it will be kept.

It reinforced my total admiration for Phil Scraton as one of the real heroes of the whole JFT96 process - I want to see both him and Kenny given knighthoods for what they have done regarding Hillsborough over the years which is a small request when you consider those who get knighthoods and have done far less worthwhile things.

I hope in time there is an update of the book he wrote Hillsborough The Truth which I listed as my favourite book ever when asked recently and i think in view of all that has happened since it was last updated an update would be a good idea.

In the 1983-84 season we played 67 games and won the League, European Cup and League Cup. 4 players appeared in every game.

Yep. A real class act and a proper central midfield player.

We now have a run of 12 matches unbeaten at Anfield - impressive! When you think back to earlier in the season, it was the venue for others to come to for a win!
We now have a lockdown at home and our Lions Den back with Klopp doing all the roaring!

Good huh!

I think the squad in general are now more accustomed to Klopp's way of playing. Not often I'd cite Michael Owen but after one of our games (Villarreal?) he said when Klopp came in we didn't really have the honeymoon period, and he's right, for the first month there was an improvement in performances but the results weren't a great deal better, besides City and Chelsea and maybe some others. Understandably it'd take time, now they've come round to his way of playing, and also managed to get the level of fitness needed for it.

It helps that in the past couple months Klopp's actually had time to coach his squad off-field, between him coming in and around February we were playing non-stop, I don't think he got a great deal of time with his players in-between games. It also helps having a fit Sturridge and a fit Origi coming good at the right time.

Mostly - regrettable we could only draw with both Sunderland and Newcastle who are both bereft of goals yet we conceded two against them both. Suggests what we all know in that we need to eliminate defensive frailties.

Getting there, though, in terms of our intensity.

100% agree on Joe Allen - massively underrated along with Milner. A certainty to avoid the Klopp cull I'd suggest.

Yes, those matches were real kicks in the teeth, maybe a bit of a wake up call to us as well.

Anyhow, the biggest question of all - who is our Player of the Season? Quite a few options in this one, but I'm going to go for a probably unlauded option, one who has always been there, got on with his job, and rarely let us down.

Clyne for me.

I know that he's a local lad, and I know he puts in a shift every time he plays, but I just don't understand the adoration that he receives from so many people. Maybe that's just me. I'm not sure I really rate Stewart either. Redmen TV praised him highly on Twitter just now, but I don't really see.

More positively though, I thought Benteke played well. Shame he couldn't grab a goal, but he made use of his physical strength, with some lovely hold up play and a really nice assist for Allen. Didn't do a lot wrong imo. Ibe looked a lot better than I've seen him recently, but his decision making at times is awful. Should have squared it across goal when he hit the post, he had 3 players lining up to tap it in.

Ojo and Brannagan I'm a huge fan of. They just look like they've got it. The desire, the skill, the mental strength to not get overawed at Anfield. They look so good and I'm excited to see him play more often for us.

Other than that, solid work from Mignolet, Skrtel, Moreno, Lucas, Allen, Coutinho and Firmino contributed to a somewhat simple win. Professional performances from the senior players to ensure that we didn't suffer a post-Europa hangover today, and it was a pleasing performance overall. On to the next one! ”

Flanno? - V S'ton he was poor and has not played since. Yesterday as i did not see the match apart from the MOTD highlights it is hard to say too much but I don't think he could have been that disastrous as i saw no Watford goals or chances from any ricks by him and considering he has not played for a while that is OK imo. The bottom line is he is prob not match fit yet and we will only see him properly next season. Long term we will see if he can become the regular FB many of us want him to be - even tho there has been some improvement from Moreno I still worry over him. The clear push in the box which should have been a pen to Villareal with not long to go illustrates it perfectly, we were lucky the ref gave him the benefit of the doubt, many would not have done.

I cannot warm to Benteke and see him going - not clinical and no real energy or passion in my eyes. Origi and Ings are ahead of him and those 2 and Sturridge will be the strikers next season.

Wish list for the summer? - some random thoughts - I definitely want a new keeper - Cologne keeper (is it Horn? ) is maybe the best bet i think, as is the Cologne LB (Hector). Others? - with Gruic coming in the needs in MF are not great as we are already pretty strong there. I do like Kierhoff at Sunderland tho as he seems a leader and versatile and has shown he can play in the PL, plus he is German! I also like Will Hughes at Derby who we have been linked with for ages and maybe we need a winger too - Yarmelenko? - as Ibe underwhelms me at present and I wonder if he has the drive and passion to be a successful Klopp player and altho Markovic deserves a chance he was not great the first time so there is no guarantee he will be that good when he returns altho knowing Klopp he will be able to bring out the best in him.

Then of course the smart money says we will get Gotze too so all in all things are looking good - the squad seems good already and with a few tweaks I am sure it will improve even more.

I still feel very strongly that Klopp could make Markovic something very special. Still not sure what went on with him, and why he went out on loan - maybe there was a clash with Brendan? Anyway, he came to us as excellent, fast, and capable - I enjoyed watching him play, he caught the eye, then he kind of went off. If he does come back that will be Klopps choice, and he will know if he's capable of playing his way to the max. He cost £20m, he needs to be good!

For me, it's Milner or Firmino, Milner edges it for his consistency.

Firmino's had a great debut season, not bad for a big-money flop. If he can gain some consistency he could be one of the best in the world.

José Enrique has been released by the club. He's become a bit of a joke since he's more known for playing FIFA and Instagram posts and stuff, but I kind of liked him. He was good when we signed him from Newcastle, he had ridiculous strength, when he had the ball you weren't getting near it. Some of his passes to Suárez were amazing, too. I also liked the way he was with some of the younger (Spanish) players, in particular Suso. He had a good relationship with them. He also didn't do too badly when he last played, at CB.

He suffered with injuries, much like his predecessor Fabio Aurelio, and couldn't get a good run of games because of it, then it seems he lost all commitment and was happy to get paid for doing nothing.

Hopefully he remembers how to enjoy football at his new club, whoever that would be. Aston Villa seem to like players who don't care, would be a good fit there.

Agree, Enrique was a great player in his day, shame he went off the boil so quickly.

I'd totally forgotten about Markovic. He could be 'a new signing' in Wenger speak. Should really suit Klopp's way of playing.

I'm possibly in a minority of 1 but I'd be perfectly happy if Migs stays our No.1 keeper. I'd also not be totally surprised if Sturridge left if the right offer came his way. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather we kept him but I think Klopp still has a big question mark over Daniel's head so if a big offer came in I don't think the club would stand in his way.

Yes, only want a fully committed Sturridge. Not sure about Mig - needs to command better so we're not so nervy at corners etc.

I'm fast at tying but not that fast

The home kit looks quite nice, not that keen on the goalie one tho.
