Some of the more credible journalists like Paul Joyce and the Echo are denying the Jonas Hector stuff...
Damn it! But I'm not really that surprised.

I'm glad your fine with it, but obviously Liverpool aren't paying him enough to concentrate solely on the club,
If we weren't paying him enough he wouldn't have signed. It's not as if he was desperate.

I think it might be possible that he was contracted to do these ads before he became Liverpool manager.

It seems like you didn't bother to read my post so I'm not going to bother with you anymore. Enjoy believing managers should think about their club 24/7 and that Klopp isn't focusing enough and I'll get back to the real world.

If this is an attempt to troll then 2/10.

Next season's fixtures will be out in 10 days.

I wouldn't mind getting someone like Hull or West Brom away for the first game, just to get the boring fixture out of the way.

Twitter going crazy with rumours that we're close to signing Higuain. Not a single reliable source is reporting on it though.

I'll believe it when I see it.

You might just get what you wish for, although facing the Pulis Bus first game of the season after having them last game of last season isn't my idea of a fun watch.

I read that yesterday. Don't entirely believe it. Partly because our second game is against Burnley at home, when we've asked the FA to give us the first two fixtures away because of the stadium works. So it'd mean they just ignored our request.

But then I'm not sure what anyone would have to gain by writing all that out as a joke.

Probably because Klopp was allegedly at the Argentine game with the player's agent (his brother?). Even if it were true, €90m is very steep for a 28 year old. But he is quality.

We're also supposedly very close to signing Porto's captain Hector Herrera. Another midfielder and the fee being quoted is around £15m, which is unusually cheap for Porto as they seem very good at sticking in big release clauses to their players contracts

My hopes of getting the LB berth filled by Jonas Hector have taken a dent with the news that, instead of the reported £15m fee, a Klon director has said they're looking for well over £20m.

Haven't seen it talked about in here, even though it's a couple days old now, so...

Turns out Sakho was the one who asked UEFA to give him the provisional suspension while he was being investigated. He's now being praised for doing so since it prevented the club from being criticised for playing a player who had been tested positive.

http://www.empireofthekop.com/2016/0...ls-reputation/

Don't know if i'd go as far as to make him captain, though he does have leadership qualities.

Still, nice of him to do it. Sadly none of this has been as widely reported as the initial story. In fact the thread that was made about him wasn't even bumped when he was cleared...

Well once again Sakho proves himself to be a throughly decent type. I'm pretty sure whatever it was he took and tested positive for, it was done in innocence ( and maybe a little ignorance ) and certainly not deliberate, wilful, substance abuse in attempt to 'cheat' some improved performance.
He, himself, must have been more shocked and worried than anyone at the time. Yet he was intelligent enough and brave enough to forget about testing the b-sample, request a temporary ban then just get on with sorting it out and clearing his name and reputation, and in the process almost certainly saving the club days and weeks of even more negative media speculation.

I'm not sure if I'd promote him to club captain on the back of it, but he's certainly come out of it with great credit. His main concern will be getting back into the team.

( Edited to add: if he requested the ban, then it's hardly credible that he'll be able to sue UEFA for banning him )

This is prompting a lot of diverse opinions elsewhere, always some that have to read between the lines and find something not there.

Sakho is proving to be the man | thought he was - someone who thinks of others before himself, in this case, the club. I hope this is all sorted so he can get in a good pre-season in with Klopp and come back even stronger next season.

I see Skrtel has been snubbed by Boro for a possible move there, and Benteke has stated he desperately wants to fight to stay with us. Always feel a bit sorry for Benteke, he just has so little luck in our shirt. Hope he does well in the Euros, and Origi!

You appear to have overlooked the fact he's not a striker - more attacking midfielder or wide man. That's not to say he wasn't poor early in his Southampton career because I remember watching some truly awful performances from him then. Has improved a lot and terrorised us recently.

Lighten up fella, it's just a bit of fun. I copied and pasted from a Liverpool fan on the forum The Liverpool Way.

If you look at last seasons form: 11 goals; 6 assists; 81% pass success rate. All better than Coutinho, for instance ( Coutinho, though inconsistent, is still the more inventive player ) . And if PSG, or Barca, keep up their interest in Philippe, then we might need a replacement?

£30m seems far too much, but a lot of transfers are going to look daft this summer with all the new money swishing around.
I'd guess he'll be one of the players Koeman might want to have at Goodison with him, so that might also keep his price high.

Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho scored his first international hat-trick as Brazil thumped Haiti 7-1 in Group B of the Copa America.
BBC.

Maybe he's getting his mojo back - or maybe he's showcasing himself? Hope it's the former, but wouldn't be at all surprised if it was the latter!

Just read about Daniel Agger announcing his retirement, absolutely gutted as always wanted him to return to LFC one day, but wish him all the best for the future.

One of those that I was very sad to see pushed out by Rodgers, he's still only 31, and it's known he's pure Liverpool. This bit on the end of the BBC article on him says a lot to me.

However, he later suggested in an interview with Danish television that his relationship with former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had broken down. Agger told TV3 that Rodgers "didn't appreciate the things I could do."

No offence but all this reliance on stats does my head in. If I use them at all I use them as a possible pointer to a player but I prefer to watch them play and form my own opinions rather than what Opta stats or whatever it is tell me. Interestingly Alladyce who I am hardly a fan of but who likes to paint himself as something of a modern manager - said something similar when on the Sunday morning Sky show recently. At Sunderland they use stats to identify players and then watch them play at least 5 or 6 times before bidding. I like that and hope my club would be doing something similar but at times I worry that we are not and are just looking at stats If the rumours are right it seems stats are what stopped us getting Mane before he went to Southampton and that could end up costing us a lot of money.

Of course all these transfer rumours are just that - rumours!! - and until something happens we should take it with a pinch of salt but I will comment on them briefly ....

Mane to me would be a good signing as he is fast and can score but if we got him he should never be the one we rely on for scoring - that should be Sturridge, Origi or Ings. At times I think JK looks on Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino as undroppable and for me all 3 are inconsistent enough that they should not have that level of certainty - I think Mane being at the club might give them all a kick up the backside. I also want a LB with defensive qualities signed - Hector as he is an established player rather than Chilwell a promising kid please. We have already got a keeper which was a need so lets hope he is decent and then wide players or players of proven quality like Gotze (if we can get them with no European football)) are on my shopping list but we'll have to see and this will be ongoing for much of the summer I expect. Certainly during the Euros I do not expect anything significant to happen - but in the long term i trust Klopp and I do think he will be more involved and insistent on the players he wants coming in than BR was.
