I'd be reasonably happy with Mane given our position. Price tag is a bit on the high side but that's how it is now in the PL. His stats/contributions from last season were better than any Liverpool player I can think of and he can play on both wings as well as behind the striker. His pace will also be a welcome addition to the attack.
Kind of sad how people on social media have already deemed him not good enough for us because he isn't Reus, when he'll probably contribute 20+ goals and assists combined per season. Pretty much all you can ask for from a wide player that isn't world class (and we're not in a position to be signing ready-made world class players). |

The main problem is the fact that we'll be signing him from Southampton. If we signed him from Schalke for £30m people would be getting over-excited.

He'll get to double figures for us if a regular and he's only 24 so more to come - I'll reserve my judgement for now and give the guy a chance. |

He is nothing great, just the same old Liverpool buy, are some of you really happy being stuck where we are? Klopp ain't a miracle worker.
I had high hopes after getting Karius. |

I wouldn't have picked Mane, personally. But I trust Klopp.

Remember those supporters of other clubs who told us Hodgson was hard done by when we sacked him

I think mane will really improve us. He will give us some much injected pace in the team for starters. He presses can score goals and is young enough to improve tenfold.

After Klopp we will more than likely have a duo of Gerrard/Carragher sharing the manager seat - if not then in the next 10 years. I know Gerrard for sure, it's his next aim, and I know Jamie will be on top of his get list.
I wonder what club will go for Hodgson next - and totally regret it! He needs to retire, can't get any lower than this.

With Sadio Mané signed, he's had some things to say, which I'm sure Liverpool fans will like. We do like people complimenting us. ![]() Quote:
Sadio Mane has revealed how Jurgen Klopp played a key role in convincing him to swap Southampton for Liverpool. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport...-mane-11536020The Senegalese international completed a £30m switch to Anfield on Tuesday , becoming the third most expensive signing in Reds history. Mane will wear the No.19 shirt on Merseyside, and speaking shortly after putting pen to paper on his long-term contract, said it was “the right club, the right coach and the right moment” for him. “Today is a big day,” he said. “I’m very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, a club with a lot of trophies and a big story. “Now I’m looking forward to meeting all the staff, my teammates and to start the season. “I knew that Liverpool were interested in me. I had some opportunities, but for me it is the right club, the right coach and the right moment to change. I am very happy to be part of Liverpool Football Club. “I spoke with him (Klopp). I think he played a big role in me coming to Liverpool, and I want to thank him for his confidence. I am looking forward to working hard and giving my best for the club “He said he wanted me to come to Liverpool. I didn’t even have to ask myself, I said straight away that I was interested because I knew Liverpool. It was the right club for me, and the right coach as well.” Mane’s recent memories of Liverpool will be positive – he scored twice against the Reds at St Mary’s back in March, and netted four times in all against them last season. But the 24-year-old was already well familiar with his new club by that point, as he revealed to Liverpoolfc.com today. “Liverpool is the big club in the world,” he said. “I remember when I was younger, I watched Liverpool versus AC Milan in 2005, which was amazing. I was very happy for Liverpool that night. “They have always had great players, legends like Gerrard, Carragher and others. I can say now that it is a dream come true, and I am very happy to be part of Liverpool. He added: “I remember the game (in March). We won 3-2, and I was happy to score the two goals for my team. But now it’s behind me and I am looking forward to my new challenge and being ready for next season. “I am looking forward to playing with the great players like Sturridge, Coutinho, Lallana, Milner. “It’s very exciting to play at Anfield, in front of the amazing fans. I’m looking forward to a great season together, as a club. “I want the fans to have confidence. I think this season will be special, and I am excited to meet everybody and enjoy the season.” This in particular stood out for me: Quote:
“I am looking forward to playing with the great players like Sturridge, Coutinho, Lallana, Milner.
You forgot Joe Allen, Sadio.

Klopp has always said he only wants players at Liverpool who really want to come to us - if he has to pull he'll just let go. Good for him.
I think Mane will be right for us, in spite of the slight against our Joe! |

No pressure on Mane, we just need him to be much better than Benteke!!
As with all LFC players, he's got my support from the start. Reserving the right to be critical and hopefully constructive if I don't think he's performing to the best of his ability

Our critics like to label us a mid table club and I sort of reject that. Lets try to categorise clubs. I think there are the really top clubs if by top clubs we mean clubs you can be fairly sure will be competing for the PL title each season ike MUFC, AFC, MCFC and CFC. Currently its hard to bracket us with them - altho we can often beat them and it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that we can finish above them. I feel we fall in the next group of clubs - like THFC and now WH, Ston, are there too, For me that is not mid table it is 'near the top but not at it, (the mid tables are the ones below that) but it does not really matter what you call it. The facts are that we have finished 6th, 7th and 8th twice in recent years so whether we like it or not we are not where we should be. When I read a TH fan assert that in 6 of the last 7 seasons they have finished above us I thought that can't be true - but then i checked and it was = reality check!! Despite all that I do still think of us as a top team cos of our fan base, our history and our pulling power which all gives us great potential for improvement I think some of those others who are near the top but not at it have no realistic aspirations of getting any higher - but I think we do hope to get higher. Under Klopp both he and the fans want nothing less than the PL title and deep down that will always be the aim at the start of every season but yes I admit for 2016/17 that would prob be a step too far. Given the reality of the situation the key things are that we need to make sure we recruit well and get the best from the players we do have and thereby make the fans happy and able to dream of even better days. For me Mane is a good addition as is Karius I think (and Gruic and Matip could be but I have not seen enough of them to comment too much) so lets be just a bit positive hey - we do have some good players and a great manager too- and by the end of the summer the squad could become even better. Onwards and upwards - if we can't be optimistic who can!! |

Exactly. I think people need a reality check if they think Liverpool are among the elite.
Not everyone wants to come here. Well first off I think Mane is pretty good (one of the best players we could have recruited) but secondly the really top people would not come to our club at present with us having finished 8th and being out of Europe. I wish it were not so but I know it is. In 12 months time maybe I hope it will be different so lets make the best of what we have and make sure that by this time next year we are a team people want to come to. |
