We won without playing particularly well, I'll take that. A few seasons ago we'd have lost this one.

First game so expected a lack of fluency.

Good things were the defence. Looked very organised and defended set pieces very well. Starting position when defending free kicks very very good. The line was very good in the game as well, being pretty damn straight with nobody dropping deeper.

I doubt I'd be any more happy if we'd scored six this time.3 points and a clean sheet at the Brittania with Lovren playing.Given how tepid we looked last season and the amount of new signings, a win today when we will still improve is brilliant.

That was like watching Susan Boyle driving with defective brakes - not pretty and three points.

PC Worldie.

Win at home to Bournemouth a week tomorrow and other clubs fans will be moaning that we're happy again

Go on a winning run and we'll be accused of saying 'it's our year'

Didn't see Lovren put a foot wrong, however, did see Skrtel make 2 very poor and dangerous back passes to Migs - could have cost us!

Benteke needs a striker partner to work all he did was jump up and down to poor passes, should just go with Ings for now to partner him and see how it goes.

We are already ahead of Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal in the table.

What happened Sturridge? Is he still injured?

He's hoping to be back for the United game.

Bit early to say that isn't it? His not been here long and it's only 1 game.

To get the best from Benteke you need to cross the ball and give him a chance to run onto them and attack the goal; whereas today there was more direct ball from deep being played to him and in that case, yes, you need someone playing close to play with and off him.

It was a really awkward game to start off our season and while I'm far from delighted with the performance, I'm certainly very happy with the three points. Another absolute peach of a strike from Coutinho; if he boy was English he'd be worth another £50m. I hope it's that kind of magic that will inspire Firmino and the rest of the team over the next couple of weeks.

The defence did ok today, Mingolet didn't have much to do, Gomez was targeted and put under pressure but even with a couple of rookie mistakes he kept calm and handled it all very well. I would still rather have Sakho in there than Lovren.

I hope gomez isn't having to bail out Lovren.
I honestly would rather have Toure in the team over lovren.
Just to say to you both (?) Lovren had a fine game yesterday, did nothing wrong, I hope you would agree?

Game pretty dull but yeah for Coutinho, great strike that lit up a rather dull game. I would have liked to see Ings come on I have to say. I do hope he isn't going to be "broken" through lack of game time.

Probably the worst game of the weekend after that entertainment shocker at Old Trafford. Liverpool are too narrow, and have no one who can beat the first defender with a cross. Until that's sorted, having Benteke up front on his own will be pointless.

Rodger's cannot, and shouldn't be allowed to have Coutinho's genius cover up his poor team selection, formation and tactics. Until Coutinho hit that shot, no Liverpool player remotely looked like scoring, let alone doing it, and that's simply not good enough.

During the post match interview, Rodgers immediately started spewing out the same old contrived rubbish from last season ie how brilliant the players were after a another poor display. Either he's got extremely low standards or he's bullshitting his head off to try and save himself.

Looks like Lucas is on his way out due to a fallout of some sort with Brendan...
