Passed his medical today.

Good luck to him, hope he develops into a top player
I rate him highly and thought he would be more productive with Liverpool last season.
Hopefully with good coaching, he can kick on.

I think Allen will definitely be off. Doesn't look like he will be offered a new contract.

Liverpool will buy a centre-back after Joe Gomez suffers new setback

Gomez, who was close to returning to full training after nine months out due to surgery on a ruptured cruciate ligament, has damaged his Achilles tendon.

The 19-year-old defender looks set to miss the start of the new season - with the Reds waiting to discover the full extent of the injury.

Not good. From James Pearce.

Just got back home from the 5times event meeting Robbie Fowler & Ian Rush, what a superb night with plenty of laughs. I strongly recommended these events to any fan .

I'm so gutted for young Joe, it's the very last thing he needed at this time of the year when he was just getting fit enough for some pre-season stuff.

And another injury for Sakho is not good news either. He's starting to rival the likes of Agger and Sturridge for time out on the sick list.

I suppose these circumstances gives Klopp an ideal opportunity to make a move for Subotic, but that could mean a few weeks down the line we'd have Matip, Lovren, Sakho, Gomez, and the new addition CB all fit and hoping for a game? I know it'd be risky, but I'd be tempted to try and get through a few games with Wisdom and Lucas as the back-ups.

In other news, there's a lot of noise about Balotelli trying to find a club in China. I'm not at all surprised that's what they are looking at as the Chinese would be the only ones prepared to give him the kind of cash he's used too. Hope he works something out soon.

And to end on the silly story that gives everyone a chuckle: Burnley are reported to be making a move for Flano....to take him on loan!

The reverse appears to be the case. I'm sure Klopp wants him to stay, but I believe Allen would want reassurances about game time before he signs a new contract.

Melissa Reddy reporting that Liverpool are open to offers for Lazar Markovic. A shame really, he's clearly got talent. I'd like to see how he'd get on under Klopp.

He looks too lethargic and sporadic to be a Klopp player and doesn't assert himself on games enough. Frustrating to watch.

Bit surprised to see they played Man Utd only yesterday - gluttons for punishment! Just hope they give our lads a good match, may be a friendly, but it's not just for fun!

remember the stick rodgers got on here for letting him go on loan, Markovic was a player that fitted all the Transfer committee tick boxes.

young, talented with clear ability. He just didnt seem to get any better, started slow and only showed his ability sporadically.

didnt watch him in turkey but if he did not push on at all then maybe it is the right time to let him go. If Klopp doesnt think he will break into the first team then no point keeping him.

We're doing something similar next month when we play Barcelona at Wembley, then fly to Germany to play Mainz 05 the next day, and that's only a week before the season starts.

Well to be fair, if Gary Caldwell was given the option to only play one, or play both back to back, then he's probably chosen the right option. He'll probably see it as an opportunity to absorb some knowledge from Mourinho/Klopp.

Woodburn getting all the plaudits for that finish but it was a lovely turn and pass from Kent. Both looked impressive today. Always liked two-footed players especially and Kent looks to be one. Taking corners with his left despite looking predominantly right-footed!

One more game on Wednesday before Klopp has to decide who to take to the US with him. A few of the young lads have definitely put their names in the hat with their performances so far.

Yes, the young guys catching the eye so far - for a 16 year old, Woodburn kooks very promising indeed and Kent seems to have kicked on since his good experience last season. Alexander-Arnold looks a decent driving midfielder too. Liked the look of Matip - his galloping runs will gain him culture status!

I'd take Woodburn, Kent and Ejaria as the youngsters to go to USA. Maybe Alexander-Arnold too if there's space.

Most of the youngsters won't be going to America.

According to James Pearce, Liverpool are close to signing 30 year old defender Ragnar Klavan from FC Augsburg for £4.2m.

Looks like we're raiding their retirement home.

Loris Karius on FB:

Another clean sheet in our 2-0 win against Wigan, but I think I stole the show today. 😄🙈 I'll try to make it less exciting the next time... ‪#‎preseason‬ ‪#‎LK1‬ ‪#‎LFC‬ Liverpool FC
I think I love him.

I guess this'll just be a kind of "emergency backup" option with Gomez and Sakho both injured. Unless he plays some blinders, I expect he'd drop out of a fully fit squad.

Yeah he's cheap cover. He's at a good age for a defender, too. Will have experience and can go for a few years.

Although maybe we could've kept Kolo on for another season.

We're also after Wijnaldum, according to some journalists, including the reliable Paul Joyce. £20m, apparently. We might send Newcastle a youngster on loan as part of a deal.

Thanks, agent Rafa!

North East journo now saying a deal is close.
Pity it's come too late to work out a swap deal for Ibe.

Who do you fancy you'll give us then?

I have read he is the Estonia captain so not quite a total no hoper with no experience - until I have seen him play I will not judge too much but I would see him as number 4 CB

With links like this and Gotze and Zielinski I find myself asklng do we need them? and are they any better than what we already have? I do think he is a decent player and I am happier with this link than Townsend but imo he is no world beater.

As I see it we already have 13 players for 6 positions
Hendo
Lucas
Allen
Gruic
Can
Milner
Coutinho
Firmino
Lallana
Mane
Sturridge
Ings
Origi

and that leaves out any of these pre season youngsters, plus Benteke, Stewart, Ojo, Brannagan and Markovic - so we are not exactly badly off altho I doubt all those listed will be still at the club by the start of the season
