North East journo now saying a deal is close.
Pity it's come too late to work out a swap deal for Ibe.

Who do you fancy you'll give us then?
The favourite seems to be the lad who is currently with the U19's for England in the Euros - Ojo. A really good lad, and frankly he'd do well with Rafa for a year - we just don't have the placing for him right now, but I doubt we would want to lose him.

Be a good move all round hopefully!

Are you sure you don't want Sissoko instead? I'd sooner keen Gini who might be more behaved if forced to stay.

Go on! Have Moussa and we can develop your lad for a year..

I'd have Sissoko if he was more consistent, and didn't give me the impression you couldn't rely on him when we're going through a tough time.

That might've just been McLaren's influence, though. He'd be too expensive for what you get, though, while £20m for Wijnaldum could be a steal in today's market.

Random bit of news, but Sakho has changed his squad number to #3. Have pity for those who have already decided to get his name on the back of the new shirt

He's going to autograph all the ones that have been bought with the wrong number if people send them to Anfield. Decent gesture.

As I see it we already have 13 players for 6 positions
Hendo
Lucas
Allen
Gruic
Can
Milner
Coutinho
Firmino
Lallana
Mane
Sturridge
Ings
Origi
Plus Mario of course - completely forgot him

Anyway if those 13 are the choice who for you would be in the team. I bet we will all say different!! - and the truth is that for different matches we would need different line ups and with tiredness, suspensions, injuries ...etc we do not really need to have a first choice eleven. But for the hell of it I will say mine - and probably annoy you all as I would be surprised if my choice was Jurgen's choice.

Central MF = Allen and Can

Behind the front players = Mane, Firmino and Coutinho

Up front = Origi

Now shoot me down - I expect it!!

Sakho seems one of the nicest guys in football. While the whole drug ban/investigation has been going on he's been going around saving the world.

He has a huge passion for helping others, spends a lot of his spare time doing good works, visiting hospitals, decorating homes for the homeless - you name it, he'll have a go. Yep, one of the really good guys.

Buzz going round that Rafa is after Lucas or Flannagan on a loan deal - - - nice try mate!

Yeah he can keep his hands of our Lucas and Flanno. I don't want either to go, though I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas does go.

Flanno needs to remain until Alexander-Arnold comes of age. We can't have a first team without a Scouser.

If he wants a player on loan as part of the deal then I'd be okay with someone like Ejaria, or even Markovic if Klopp doesn't fancy him and he wants to improve his value. I'm sure Newcastle will toughen him up.

Otherwise I'd be happy to see Ryan Kent go there on loan.

Supposedly Lucas or Flanagan going to the Mags in part ex for Wijnaldum.

God knows where Wijnaldum will play if we get him given we're stacked with 10s but he looked pretty versatile at Newcastle so I guess that's a good thing.

Would rather have Sissoko in all honesty but reports seem to indicate he'd cost a fair bit more than £20m.

He could be the most likely, Flannagan is staying with Klopp, depends if he's happy going down a league I guess, but at least he could stay in England.

He could provide versatility from an NUFC point of view and at 29 has enough experience even if not at Championship level. Hayden was signed for Defensive midfielder role but can play in CB so that would give Rafa options.

Still, both clubs yet to agree a fee before anything can happen.

Wouldn't be surprised if Flanno left. His decent but his quite basic.

Newcastle claim they haven't received an acceptable bid yet.

I'd be most put out if we lost Origi.

If fans at Anfield don't sing Ragnar the Red from Skyrim, I'll have lost all faith in football fans.

Tony Barrett is leaving The Times.

Good news, he's too good for them.

Half-time.

Grujic with another pre-season goal, making it 1-0. Coutinho had a penalty saved, the second missed penalty in pre-season.
