I'm disappointed with the sale of Allen he started to play well and had a good Euros, wtf is this Klopp

The names do not mean anything. What's important is if they can play.

You have to trust the manager believes the players signed so far are good enough even if they are not marquee.

I think some thought Klopp would come in and attract marquee signings but he still has a budget to work with. We don't pay those huge wages which marquee players demand.

I believe in what Klopp is trying to do, and I think he will do the best he can for the club. Not all of us agree with certain players leaving, I would loved to have kept many that left over the years, and still miss several even now, but, we have to keep moving forward.

Our big problem might be the amount of money and the calibre of players Chelsea & Man Utd are buying - and they don't have CL (as has been mentioned) same as us. Then we have City & Arsenal to contend with, both seem to always get CL regardless of who they buy! But none of us have the faintest idea who will be top 4 this coming season, so many changes (barring Arsenal) going on.

We have no idea until we see the final squad Of Klopps choice, and his ideal first team, on just what he plans. We do know he's making the players he has do triple workouts to get them to peak fitness - he might have some excellent gems in his new players who could make Joe seem average, we really don't know yet. He not just selecting the players, he's selecting the attitudes as well!

I am on record as being unhappy at Allen being sold - and i stand by that even tho if I am honest I have only become an Allen fan in recent times. However in defence of that flip flopping of my opinion I would justify it by saying that Joe has improved a lot since Klopp came to LFC. For Joe himself tho this has to be a good move - at Stoke he will be pretty much guaranteed a starting place which he was probably never going to get at LFC - even tho I may have given him it. I just think valuations of players is madness - 13 m for Joe, 15m for Ibe and maybe 30+m for Benteke

So where are we now and what is Klopp thinking? are we signing bad players? has JK got it wrong? Will we slip back next season? The pessimists would say so but I am an optimist.

I like the players we have got - they seem to be team players without egos who want to be at LFC. With the frees and small fees paid we are hardly spending anything with the money coming from sales especially when you think it likely that Benteke will go for a large sum too shortly. Mane and Wijnaldum are the two big outlays and they did well last season in the PL so I think they are smart additions. Gruic looks a player who will feature a lot and he and Wijnaldum will contribute goals from midfield - something we have lacked at times and getting a 100+ cap defender for 4m seems a steal - he could be a significant buy. We also now have competition for Mig in goal so it is looking good. I think Klopp maybe felt we lacked physical presence at times and has brought in a few strong powerful tall, players and that will help us not to be bullied as much both in general play and at set pieces.

We are a work in progress for sure but i do think progress is being made - but we will only know when we see us play in the PL and we see the full picture of the ins and outs at the end of the window. OK we may have odd decisions we do not agree with like the sale of Allen in my case but despite that we have to get behind Klopp and the team and think we can do well next season (and what we mean by well i will leave open!!)

David Thompson quits TalkSport over links to The Sun, following Colin Murray who left for the same reason.

Seems we scouted Wijnaldum years ago, according to Dirk Kuyt, when Wijnaldum was at Feyenoord. We knew then that he was going to be a good player. But we didn't sign him then. Why? Was he too cheap?

The only thing I can say is that JK is planning on playing a different style than the one I'd naturally prefer. I will hope he's got it all planned out and that it works the way it should. I'll just have to wait and see, and it may take a while because I never expected that he'd be able to do it all in one transfer window; it actually could be next summer before we see a more true and complete Klopp side.

I was never the biggest fan of Joe Allen, but looking back and thinking about it, he always seemed to get unlucky with picking up an injury at the wrong time. Last season was much better And he looked to enjoy playing for JK, so I'm surprised he's not been offered a contract and the bargain price that's being accepted makes it look like the club is happy to let him leave.

I actually like players like Allen, Lucas and even Can ( and Milner too ), midfielders who are not all flash and bang but actually just put in a lot of hard work denying the opposition, winning the ball back and, of course most importantly, keeping it. That's why I get slightly concerned and envious when I see the likes of Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal signing players like Pogba, Kante and Xhaka and we are letting our midfield workhorses leave the club.

The new additions are all decent players: Grujic is still very young and first time away from home, he could be anything and nothing; Mane and Wijnaldum are both good players and proven to handle the PL. None of them are 'protect the CB's ' type of midfielders though, and our central defence could do with some protection. Wijnaldum in particular is not known for putting his foot in and he tends to play on the left of midfield, you know, the same side as Moreno! A team with Moreno, Wijnaldum and Coutinho on the left would be a little concerning for me ( although, undoubtedly, they'd create a huge amount of chances going forward )

We'll just have to wait and see what happens, still five weeks of the transfer window to go and plenty of time for that upgrade at left back.

I think that's the only other signing we will make. A left back and then finished.

I'm not sure where all these midfielders will play. They can't all play in the same team.

Totally agree - a new LB and I'd be happy with the window - altho I am never unhappy when we sign good players - the problem being fitting them all in and the squad now + a LB would be fine.

but please make the LB we get someone like Hector not Chilwell - we need a first team player not one who will be good in 2 or 3 years time. I could live with signing both those two but not just Chilwell as that would probably mean Moreno will be the LB next season and I do not want that. I would sell him - he'd raise a lot of money too - but if he was kept as a back up no problem - but please we need other options there, that has to be the priority.

Well, Wijnaldum is now a Liverpool player!

I'm happy with this signing.

Benitez, Inter: Coutinho to LFC
Benitez, Chelsea: Sturridge to LFC
Benitez, Newcastle: Wijnaldum to LFC

Thanks, Agent Rafa!

Shame he couldn't have given us Toni Kroos or something but that'll do.

Wow, Rafa was the manager of both Inter AND Chelsea in the same transfer window?! He really is brilliant!

Genuinely hope it works out for you with Gini.

We had our problems with him, notably we couldn't manage to get a blasted away goal out of him but maybe he'll thrive under JK and a stronger team

Crystal Palace making a big bid for Berahino and are also looking at Moussa Sow. I would think that might indicate they have, or are near, giving up their pursuit for Benteke.

I'm not sure I can think of many teams who'll be prepared to go over £30m for him; maybe Chelsea if they can't get Lukaku back?

Lol, someone asked on the BBC Sport FB page about "Big Sam" and wondered who "Little Sam" was, so I told them Sammy Lee, from the time he was Sam Allardyce's assistant at Bolton. Some people didn't believe me, so to make sure my memory wasn't playing tricks I checked Wikipedia to confirm.

While Googling, to get to his Wikipedia page, I seen some articles linking Sammy Lee to England, to be Big Sam's Little Sam again. I mean it was from sites like the S*n and the Mail but it'd be cool if that happened.

Given he only scored at home, getting into double figures was no mean feat - we certainly are trying to spread the goal scoring load at last.

Even his critics would say 8 of those were spread across 3 games. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up for debate, I certainly wasn't complaining, even after the Tottenham game after we'd gone down.

Kolo isn't a Liverpool player.

He wishes he could get Allen. Celtic can't afford him though.

Kolo Toure isn't one of our players.

And Joe Allen is already on his way to Stoke.

That might be the extra cash that makes up an improved bid for Chillwell, though I have read that he has decided to stay at Leicester.
I quite like Brad Smith, thought he was coming along nicely. I suppose he's another one who has reached that phase where he really wants a shot at regular first team games. Another buy-back clause would be in order for him if he goes.

Well, Joe Allen is now a Stoke City player.

Sad that he had to go, I suspect part of the reason he went was because we couldn't ensure he'd get a lot of game time ahead of some other players.

Ultimately it was probably for the best. Will be interesting to see how he does next season. When he signed for us you probably didn't look at him and think "he'd do well in a Stoke City shirt".
