Impressive performance. Origi with 2 lovely finishes (1 incorrectly chalked off for offside). Ojo looked good as well and ran the Milan defence ragged in the time he was on. Didn't see much from Wijnaldum but given he's literally only just signed it's not a surprise.
I almost feel bad for Milan but it is only pre-season. They looked completely out of their depth at times though. |

Yes, Ojo was a handful as were Lallana, Sturridge and Mane in the first half (until it got to the final ball or shot). Milan were clearly behind us in their pre-season and were leggy - but they didn't look great up front.

Recorded the match and watched it this morning. Good performance, great goal from Origi.
Very disappointed with Markovic so far in the pre-season games, He just doesn't look anywhere near the level of the likes of Mane, Coutinho, Firmino and even Lallana. Think he'll be out soon... |

Origi is really starting to look like some player. Absolutely scrumptious goal from him, and his wrongly disallowed goal was a beautiful finish as well. I definitely reckon he'll be pushing Sturridge this season for that #1 strikers honor.

I wondered why he didn't appear in our last match, now we know. Poor lad, he was stunning us all at the right time too.

Players dropping like flies; add Origi to the injured list with a groin problem, hopefully not a tear and just needs some rest. But this lad seems to be as fragile as Sturridge.
Looks like Milner at LB for the Roma game and Can, Mane, Wijnaldum in midfield with Sturridge, Firmino and Ojo upfront. |

Lost 1-2 against Roma, Ojo scored our goal just before half time.

I like Milner more than most non Liverpool fans, but it's odd how he is being considered as a potential left back for you guys... In fact it shows how much the full back role has changed... They barely need to be schooled in the art of defending these days..

Like many LFC fans i am a great fan of Lucas - his love for the club is transparent and his performances are mainly pretty good too. Even at CB he did well last season and the previous one after he got injured V MUFC at Anfield our season fell apart. .He is the ultimate team player. I am not happy it seems he is being sold and that is not just sentiment speaking, I really believe he could do a job for us if he stayed - altho yes not as a starter.
The thing tho I really cannot get my head round is the reported fee - now I know things like how long is to go on the contract ...etc come into it but I saw it quoted as being 2.75m which if it is true is an absolute steal. I would also comment that I am amazed that no PL teams are in for him and offer say 3 or 4m. He is still capable of doing a job for many teams in the PL and would be an automatic choice for lots of them. He has proven it over the years - and i do not see 29 as that old - there are countless players older than that in the PL. I am watching this situation closely cos 2.75m to Galatasaray is not the best fee we could get I am sure - and if we are selling him on the cheap as a favour due to his service over the years that is wrong too - we have to get the best fee we can |

Reading some forums I see Henderson getting some stick.
I'm really not sure where Henderson fits into this side. His not a deep playing midfielder and further forward I think we have better options. |

I think the BIB is the thing though. As a holding midfielder he is 4th choice, and perhaps even Grujic could be ahead of him too, making him 5th choice if everyone is fit. At CB he would be 6th choice, so with no Euro games at all finding him games to play is going to be really difficult. It's a real pity he's injured just now or he could be trying out a few games at LB; I'd trust him there more than I trust Moreno. According to the reports in The Daily Mail JK is in no rush to sell him. Quote:
Lucas, who is currently recovering from a hamstring problem and has started running again at Liverpool’s training camp in St Louis, is a player Klopp holds in high regard and he had a crucial role to play in the German’s first season at Anfield. I'm surprised Rafa isn't interested in trying for him; maybe the wages are a bit too much for the Championship , although those are offset slightly by such a low fee. If it comes to it, I'll be sad to see him leave.
Klopp is not actively looking to let Lucas go - and the player is not agitating for a move either - but Galatasary want the Brazil international and can offer something that Liverpool manager will not be able to: a guaranteed starting place. |

I'd be gutted to see him go before he reaches his 10 year service with the club. I'm happy that neither Lucas or Klopp are actively pushing for a move to happen and it just appears to be the Turks chasing him. Still no sign of a new "starter" left back yet though

Lucas' experience is invaluable, and although his engine isn't the same as it was, he is a player that suits Klopp's style.
I actually think he'd be a better captain than Henderson, but it seems there isn't going to be much first team football in his future. If he decides he wants first team football, I think he deserves to be allowed a transfer away from the club. I'd be sad to see him go, but at the same time, Klopp seems to be building a very capable squad which is quite exciting. I think we just need another full-back and that's the transfer window done for us in terms of players coming in! |

Good old Liverpool, already top of one listing for the PL just before the season starts - but not one we really want. We already have 8, yes 8 players on the injury list.
![]() Alberto Moreno — The Spaniard suffered a dead leg yesterday but should be fit for the start of the season. Divock Origi — He missed the game last night with a groin issue. According to physioroom, he should also be ready for the Arsenal clash. Marko Grujic — Is still concussed after a clash of heads in the Chelsea friendly. Loris Karius — The new keeper will be out until mid-October with a broken hand. Lucas Leiva — The Brazilian has a hamstring strain. Will reportedly return for the second week of the new campaign. Joel Matip — Matip has missed a chunk of pre-season with an ankle issue Joe Gomez — The youngster has an Achilles injury. Doesn’t have a return date. Mamadou Sakho — Has the same problem as Gomez, and also doesn’t have a return date. |

Just posted this comment on the football betting pages but thought it might be of interest to some on here. Coral are doing a series of special offers for the new season and their next one is for Liverpool. Get 10/1 on Liverpool finishing in the top 4! Offer goes live at 8am tomorrow and is limited to the first 1000 sign ups was probably won't last that long. The link is:

Everton, flush with cash if they sell Lukaku to Chelsea for £65m, could be lining up Benteke as his replacement. Even if we were to get all of our £32m investment back, that move would have me worried about getting our arse bitten in the future as, in the right team, he will score a load of goals.
Unfortunately, they don't have a LB that I really like who could be part of any deal; Oviedo is useful as he can play right and left, but not sure 'd rate him as a significant improvement over Moreno. |

To me the greatly needed replacement LB is obvious - Hector. - why are we stalling on pursuing this guy|?
He is German like Klopp, he is the current first choice LB for Germany, as a German he most probably likes Klopp and would want to come and play for him at our club, the club he is at is not one of the most highly rated so he would be open to move and they would be open to sell him, he would not cost that much by today's standards - 25m or so which is high for LB but it is such a need for us we need to splash out, (and anyway we are getting a lot in from sales this summer and have lots of extra TV money) he is 26 so would have a lot of years left in him but is old enough to be have enough experience to just go straight into the team, he is strong defensively (most important trait to have) but can contribute attacking wise too.... need i go on!! If there is a reason why we are not after this guy can someone please tell me because i don't get it!! Just go out and buy him Jurgen, what are you waiting for? |

I am off to Wembley tomorrow to watch LFC with my 2 sons as birthday presents to them so should get to bed asap as i have a drive of over 200 miles to look forward to. We are staying in the London area overnight and coming back on Sunday. I have not been to Wembley for years and certainly not since it became 'new Wembley' so it is pretty exciting and also the prospect of seeing so much talent both for us and Barca. Whisper it but I think us V Wimbledon FAC 1988 was the last time - hope it is a better game than then!!
I hope this is not too disloyal but for me the result is not mega important - it is pre season after all. I want to see a good match and for us to match them - after all for me they are the best team in the world and at present we are far from that. Not even sure what kind of a line up we will put out with the Mainz match the next day but I think I am going to enjoy tomorrow whatever happens. |

Flanno's off to Burnley for a year.
As error-prone as Moreno might be, we get lucky last season with his attendance record. Despite the heavy season he didn't pick up injuries every other week. With the fewer games this season it should be easier to avoid injuries, too, and I don't think we can afford to have him pick up an injury this season, unless we end up signing some cover. We're a bit thin in both fullback positions. At LB, Clyne can cover, Ragnar can cover, Milner is already the designated cover, Sakho and Lovren can play there, too. At RB? I'm not so sure after Clyne, with Randall possibly leaving I think it's just the young Alexander-Arnold. There's always Joe Gomez if he can get fit. Can can also provide cover in those positions but I'd much rather we didn't waste him out there. It makes getting rid of Lucas a bit more annoying. He could've covered CB to allow one of them to cover RB/LB in an emergency. Maybe Milner or Lallana could cover RB if ever necessary, or even Hendo. And then there's Lucas, on his way to Galatasaray. I think he could've been useful. I think it's at least a year too soon for him to leave, but I'm sure Klopp knows what he's doing. |

Match a sell out at Wembly tonight.
Liverpool XI vs. Barcelona: Mignolet; Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner; Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Coutinho, Firmino, Mane Substitutes: Manninger, Henderson, Grujic, Moreno, Brannagan, Origi, Ings, Matip, Stewart, Wisdom, Markovic, Randall, Alexander-Arnold Daniel Sturridge misses out due to a hip problem. |
