Nice one!

Sky Germany have announced that they have struck a deal with Liverpool, allowing them to show all of the Reds’ Premier League games this season.

The new “long-term deal” was confirmed on Tuesday, with Sunday’s clash with Arsenal the first match to be shown live. Delayed coverage of FA Cup and League Cup action is also part of the deal.

“The high-class duels between Dortmund and Liverpool in last season’s UEFA Europa League have clearly shown how interested the football fans in Germany for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

“Co-operation enables us to be very close to Jurgen Klopp.”

Matthew Baxter, Liverpool’s Chief Media Officer, also gave his thoughts on the exciting partnership.

“We are delighted to now extend our collaboration with Sky on Germany.

“We already have a very successful co-operation with Sky UK and we look forward to expanding this strong partnership and the television program to offer Liverpool an even wider audience.”

Klopp is unquestionably one of the most charismatic, sought-after men in football currently, and his profile should only rise from this point on.

TIA

Makes Kodi use on 3pm Saturdays easier.

Although this doesn't mean every game does it, just they have the option to if they want.

I'm not too sure. They do say delayed coverage of FA Cup and League Cup action is also part of the deal. That leads me to believe they will be showing live quite a few, if not all of our matches. (The Prem on K is still probably the best option though).

So they'd be better letting his contract run down and then take the first offer that comes in to avoid letting him go on a free? If palace offer more than 25m then we should take it and move on.
Nah, they`ll get thirty million quid if they don`t panic. He is well worth such a fee in the current market.

Everton might just have helped us out in regards to Benteke. They've apparently agreed a £30 million deal for Yannick Bolasie, which might just provide Palace with the funds to shell out for Benteke.

Oh, and Benteke is definitely worth more than Bolasie, so I'd certainly expect us to hold out in this scenario.

Yep, I read it yesterday I think when it was still a rumour, or in the early stages, and reported to be £30m, and thought they were funding the Benteke deal. If the Bolasie deal is £25m + £5m addons then the Benteke deal could be similar.

I'm not happy with Everton getting Bolasie. I hate him playing against us. I also hate Benteke playing against us, and Crystal Palace, so I wouldn't be too happy to see Benteke going there, even if it is for the best.

Bolasie does seem to turn it on against us, but in general, his stats are really poor. He's only scored 9 Premier League goals across 3 seasons, which for a player in his position isn't good.

Quick one guys, Fantasy Football. Coutinho or Firmino? I'm struggling to decide. I feel like Coutinho is the better player, but Firmino is a bigger goal threat. I dunno.

I've gone down the easier route of picking neither.

Both have consistency issues, but when they're on it, Firmino would be more prolific I think. Yeah I think I'd go with Firmino.

Neither for me either, just not consistent enough right now, as Munch said. I have gone for 3 of our players though that should get some decent points...............

I've went with Firmino ( and Mane ) because overall I think they will just be more consistent performers. Coutinho is the more mercurial and produces the more memorable moments, but he has too many games where he did very little.

It's starting to get really interesting now and pieces are beginning to fall into place. Everton get Bolasie so they can sell Lukaku to Chelsea, and Palace get the cash they need to fund the extra for Benteke.

Now surely someone, somewhere would take a chance on Markovic? I'd accept anything close to £15m for him.

I was initially quite excited for Markovic's return from loan, I thought Klopp could have done some magic with him. But he's been really poor in the pre-season friendlies, and the idea of him competing with the likes of Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino and Mane for a starting berth seem laughable at this point. Surely a midtable club would take a £10-15 million punt on him?

Thanks for the FF responses guys. I could look at other clubs players obviously, but why would I want to do that when we're gonna smash every team off the park this season?

What are people's general feelings on the new season?
It's cautious optimism for me. During most of the off season since Benitez had us finishing 2nd in 2009, LFC's incoming summer transfers have depressed me to be honest.

There are rest and recuperation advantages to no European football this season, as we saw when Rodgers took us to runners up spot in 13/14. Not a huge amount of changes to the squad as we've seen in recent summer's and we now have our best manager since Benitez. All due respect to King Kenny but he'd been out of the game too long when he returned.

I think CL qualification can be a realistic goal .We've a tough start but picking up points with solid displays and more importantly results in the opening months will be a great platform for the long haul.

I suspect that's not an option we'll ever use on Smith, unless an extraordinary transformation happens.

Ibe on the other hand.....I suspect Klopp will be keeping a close eye on him.

Very bad news.

Roberto Firmino has dyed his hair bleach-blond like Messi and Aaron Ramsey.

He either wants to kill famous people with his goals and spend half the season injured, or score 50 goals a season.

This guy's a bit nuts.

This is the way it seems you have to think as a modern football fan - well I am not a modern football fan and make no real apology for it.

I will set no targets for finishing league position - all I will say as Kenny used to say is that we will try to win every match and then add up the points at the end and see where we end up - I liked that thinking. I do not like to have the attitude that at the start of the season we aim for 4th as if that should be the best we can expect. It may well be that that is where we end up but before a ball has been kicked it is not what I would say about our hopes..Nor I think would it be what Klopp would say - I am sure he would not put a place on it cos really it makes no sense to do so.

I read a lot of LFC related stuff on the net and there are those who say that as we may end up with a negative spend this summer it is a disgrace or such like and as our biggest rivals have just spent 89m on a player then we are obviously being left behind. I do not agree - we have never been a club to spend silly money on players and what exactly do these people want ? - us to outbid MUFC and bid 90m? Or to have gone in for the mid 30s aged mega ego that is Zlatan? In any case I doubt these two would have come to us even if we had bid, but they are not LFC type players, they are not Jurgen Klopp type players - so lets trust him to have got the right players in and lets see how they do.

The truth is that we still have more players than we need with a squad of 25-30 including maybe 12 very good experienced options for 6 forward positions and that does not include Markovic, Stewart, Ojo, Lucas (who I thought was going and now may not be - good!!) and others too. Our defense looks good too with the exception of the LB position and we also have a choice of keeper now. I would hope if we do more transfer business it will be for a LB - Hector please!! - and maybe a specialist defensive midfielder - but overall as someone who saw us play V Barca last Saturday I am far more optimistic about the season than you appear to be.

What's an 'LFC type player'?

And was £35m on Mr. Andrew Carroll not 'silly money'?

If we could be in the market for someone like Zlatan, or pay that sort of money on Pogba then we would do. We tried to get Mario Gotze, even if it was £20m. Mané wasn't cheap, or Benteke, or Adam Lallana, or Lovren.

Zlatan isn't an LFC-type player because he wouldn't fit into our system, and Klopp probably wouldn't want him, but really we aren't that different or more special than other big clubs when it comes to transfers. If he could've benefitted us and we thought we were able to get him then we would have gone for him. Klopp might not have wanted him but other LFC managers would have. Rafa Benitez wasn't shy about spending money, and it's not like we bought our current squad out of a charity shop.

Andy Carroll remains our most expensive signing at £35m, but I can see that being broken in the near future as inflation continues to hit the football economy.

If Suárez became available right now for £60m and we had the money do you think we wouldn't go for it? He's an LFC-type player in that he'd have the workrate and ability to fit into the system, but he doesn't cost a tenner so is he still an LFC-type player? And it's not like we're short of egos. Sturridge, Sakho, Karius? I'm not even gonna include Balotelli in this.

I completely understand that Ibrahimovic wouldn't fit Liverpool's current set-up, if that's what was meant by 'LFC type player'.

I don't consider myself a modern ' sky sports generation' football fan as I am 40 next year and can still remember watching our last league title win against QPR at Anfield as a 13 year old in 1990. I'm just a little weary of how much can be read into pre season results in any year. Klopp seems our best managerial appointment for some time but I'm always concerned about the baggage around LFC in not being English champions for so long a period. Something, which in my opinion weighs heavily on the players at our club due to the expectancy of the supporters.Very average signings through the years also haven't helped the club move forward to where we want it to be.

Truth is I don't know a great deal about our new signings and how they will fit into LFC and for some coming to the PL for the first time. Here's to hoping we don't have another hugely inconsistent league season when we might be very good when we're good but also very bad on occasion.

LFC type player? - it'd taker too long for me to explain what I mean - and then you probably would argue with me so I will just leave it if you don't mind.

I do actually think that most of the current squad fit the mold of what I would want in a player altho yes for sure though over the years there have been many signed who have not been LFC style players, I can agree with that.

Carroll? - 35m was far more than his worth at the time - altho frankly now i would put him at that value (certainly if some seem to see Benteke as worth 32m - and Carroll is better than him) and as has been said it was cos we had just received 50m from CFC and had no main striker on the books - so it was a panic buy in a way and a bad panic buy.

MUFC have spent the kind of money they have this summer and 2 summers ago on De Maria with no major incoming transfers to fund it, CFC did that in the early days of Roman - it is called by many trying to buy the league - including Mourinho last summer ironically enough when he was still at CFC.

If we could be in the market for someone like Zlatan, or pay that sort of money on Pogba then we would do. We tried to get Mario Gotze, even if it was £20m. Mané wasn't cheap, or Benteke, or Adam Lallana, or Lovren.

Suarez is the ultimate LFC type player, - a brilliant player who was a winner whose played for the team - think Keegan, Kenny, Rush, Gerrard as maybe the best other examples but there have been many over the years. Houllier and Rafa went back to some of these ideals after the spice boy era when we really lost ground in terms of professionalism.

Balotelli is the ultimate non LFC type player and why we went for him I have no idea except that he was available and we needed a player. I totally disagree about us going after Pogba and Zlatan - Klopp does not want those type of players due in part to ego issues. We would not be against spending big money if needed but we would not want people who put themselves above the team. He knew Gotze and so that was why he was considered - Lewandowski the same but anyway as a non CL team it is hard to bring in players at that level at the moment - maybe a year or two down the line? The LFC buys you list are far below the level of the spending of the likes of MUFC, CFC and MCFC and are probably value for money in today's market and i really do not see the egos of the players you list as similar to Zlatan ...etc. Think Messi compared to Ronaldo - Messi would fit into the philosophy at LFC, Ronaldo wouldn't. But I doubt you will agree - I think in short me and you are from different eras of LFC fan - how much do you actually know about the ideas of Bill Shankly?

I don't consider myself a modern ' sky sports generation' football fan as I am 40 next year and can still remember watching our last league title win against QPR at Anfield as a 13 year old in 1990. .
Unlike most DS LFC contributors I was a fan when we used to really win things and were the best team - 60s, 70s and 80s so you will have come in at the end of that era, an era borne out of the vision of one man. I refer of course to Bill Shankly whose ideas are still at the club now in some ways but less and less so altho I think he and Klopp would have agreed on a lot.. I'll tell you what it was great to be a LFC fan in the days when we were dominant but they can never return in the same way with the role money now plays in the game. I stilll retain the hope that one day we will win the league again - and with Klopp as the manager I have never been so hopeful

Hi Liverpool fans. bit random Q here. but what was your view on Charlie Adam as a signing.. I always thought it was odd. good enough football player but nowhere good enough for Liverpool. Was he only at the club for a season. did he do much? Why was he sign?
