Sturridge has never suffered a shoulder injury.
Getting injured in training.

According to the Daily Mirror we are looking at Bruno Martins Indi of Porto to partly solve our defensive issues. He's a left footer with 30 caps for Holland.

Can't say I've heard of him before now, but he is "24, capable of playing both at the heart of defence and also left-back."

Anyone else know anything on this one?

The rumours I'm reading on Facebook suggest that Sturridge and Milner will start in place of Mane and Moreno on Saturday. Which will be interesting if so, considering Klopp's recent public backing of Moreno.

Loris Karius is back in training.

Shouldn't be too long now until we're sticking him in goal.

Crystal Palace reach an agreement for Christian Benteke for an initial £27m fee

Good luck to him (except against us).

I've read that it's £32m elsewhere, obviously that'll be through addons.

I was confident of us managing to get £30m for him. Wasn't quite expecting us to get our money back (minus £500k). We've become quite smart in the transfer market lately.

I've read £32m too, pleased that's now sorted for us and for him.

Now then, onto the enigma that is Ballotelli. £32.32 for him? Anyone?

Wolves are currently favourites to sign Balotelli at 5/4.

He's also 3/1 to stay at the end of the transfer window. Decent odds since it seems difficult getting rid of him.

If Benteke gets the service he likes, he'll score his share of goals. Hopefully not to many of them against us, but he had a habit of doing just that did Villa. Good luck to him,I hope he does OK.

And it looks as if we did OK on the deal as well which is a bit of a welcome surprise. By my rough reckoning that just about balances our transfer spending for this window, and so some sakes to go out; Alberto, Markovic, possibly Ilori and Wisdom ( I won't count Ballo , nobody will spend money on him ).

I guess that could mean there is wiggle room in our budget for another signing ( or two ) yet.

Hopefully with the 27m we'll buy a good left back and centre back.

The club has done some pretty damn good business. That's a great price to recieve for Benteke and doesn't that make the incomings greater that what was spent in the window?

When you consider that we've spent £34 million on Mane and another £23 million on Wijnaldum, it's incredible to think we've actually made a profit on players this summer.

Watching the Stoke v City match, and the 2 pens given - so glad we don't have Skrtel anymore! Refs are red hot on defenders holding in the box now.

Called it.

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge

SUBS: Manninger, Can, Origi, Matip, Moreno, Stewart, Grujic

What I'm loving is seeing really good players on the bench now, as well as a decent 1st team. Looks good, when you consider we still have a few in sick bay.

Suicidal defending. Not a great pass initially from Klavan, Clyne gives the ball away and Lovren gives Vokes all the room in the world. Woeful start.

Burnley are up for this, we're still all over the shop yet.

I'm going to coin a new term for Liverpool's defensive ability.

Omnishambles defending.

Coutinho needs to be less selfish there. He's got Firmino free on the right, and 2 players in the box. He can't be shooting from 35 yards all the time.

I was worried about Vokes in the air when we defend the set piece but he'll put them away with his feet if we gift him like that.

Big early season test of character.Needs a role reversal of when we've gone ahead in games early on in recent seasons.Let's turn this around.
