Given the control we had on the game, not sure why our creative players have got off so lightly. As good as they were last week for half of that game, they were slow and sloppy today. Yes, we all know our defensive issues but the fact we failed to breach a newly promoted defence despite plenty of the ball in very decent areas is also a recurring theme. The likes of Coutinho only seem to get focused and up for games against the big guns or don't have the work ethic to unpick a packed defence and simply fade out of games.

I'm hoping the likes of Gurjic and Can will add some backbone, heartbeat and drive to the side as we lack that and ape easy to defend against in numbers. Mane's return will also add some power, pace and individuality we lacked today.

Our most consistent defender and our striker made the individual errors today that led to their goals but the chemistry of the team needs looking at as it seems most players need a mental reboot most games to get going.

I get the feeling Klopp's patience with some players may be wearing thin. I suspect he wants players he can rely on physically and mentally week in, week out.

It's like watching The Simpsons - you carry on watching for the one-liners and nuggets of genius but the consistency is all over the place and you wonder if it'll ever come back whilst rivals like Family Guy are now much better bets.

I have no idea which Liverpool will show up at Spurs next week. I hope Gurjic and Can get the midfield gig though and that Mane is back.

Not the first time that's happened. Same thing happens when we play Man U in the league, we're ahead in all stats but always get beat.

This rubbish has been going on for years now, it's easy to predict what matches we will win, just look at the schedule, any tough games good chance of a win bar Man U, easy games a defeat. It's like we take our foot of the pedal or take it for granted we're gonna win.

MOTD closed with a report of an £800 million bid for LFC backed by the Chinese government.

Google suggests that it is more like a bid for a minority stake.

Looks like same old same old with Liverpool, even though its only 2 games in were shipping too many goals and losing to teams we should be beating.

Just hearing more about this on sunday supplement. If this is true which I've reason to believe it isn't then it would put liverpool on par with the other big clubs. Apparently the Chinese investors involved are worth around 600billion.

You do know the chinese government want to make their League number 1 at all costs
We should not sell

For those who want the club to be able to operate in the top end of the market, investment is the only way.

I don't think I'd trust the Chinese Government with a stake in our club. I know our current owners aren't the richest businessmen, and I know they'll be ruthless if they have to, but I do genuinely believe they want to do what's right by the club. I'd be very uncomfortable about this.

For an example of how new ownership can be disasterous, look no further than Venkys.

The problem is our current owners do like playing Moneyball, and should these Chinese lot come in with a massive price they may just take the money and run. Morals play very little part in profits.

The problem is we're falling behind other clubs and if it isn't us then they'll invest in another club which puts us even further behind.

Watching the highlights again after finally catching up with MOTD, it was evident how absent quick one-touch passing was. It slow and almost every player in forward areas took at least one touch before then passing, shooting or (cautiously) running with the ball. To beat well drilled defences, we need to do things far, far quicker around the box (as we did against Arsenal at times). Grujic seemed to add that urgency and the returning Mane definitely will.

As for Chinese owners, it's the financial equivalent of getting Mourinho in - will probably improve our chances significantly but it doesn't sit well with me - it's bad enough having American owners who are not putting the football first in favour of this Moneyball strategy.

Our chances are as speculative as our transfer dealings - I'm sure Klopp will get some consistency soon but it's all very volatile at the moment. Like in Germany, it just may take some time.

Reliable journalists, including Tony Barrett, are reporting that Liverpool are looking to send Sakho out on loan.

Liverpool are considering letting Mamadou Sakho go out on loan. ‪#‎lfc‬ (Tony Barrett)

#LFC are considering sending Mamadou Sakho out on loan in the hope he revitalises himself and then resumes his Anfield career. (Paul Joyce)

If this goes ahead then I imagine we'll sign another CB, even if it's on loan, as we'll suddenly find ourselves a bit light at the back if we send him out on loan for a season, assuming it's not permanent.

We could always put in a clause to recall him like United have with their young left back.

So are Liverpool done now in the transfer window with klopp saying he's gonna work with what he's got? It's quite clear he doesn't have any faith in moreno no matter what how much he defends him otherwise he wouldn't replace him with milner who isn't a left back.

Maybe there isn't a LB good enough who is available. Just signing LB isnt the answer.

Dunno why I keep seeing Liverpool fans on FB say sign hector. Honestly do these people not follow football news.

As for sakho. If he goes out on loan then that's his Liverpool career done. Don't see him coming back to play that's for sure.

A defeat isn't good at any time but it's still only 2nd game of the season. The way some go on its like the season is over.

I remember rafa's second season and I'm sure up until October the team had only won the few games and then things really picked up. We move on to spurs away and and while a win there wouldn't suddenly make the team title contenders a defeat won't mean it's all over either.

I'm genuinely worried about Sakho going, even if it will be just on loan. Unless we sign some more defenders, then the tactics might be Keegan's Newcastle and Ardiles Spurs of lots of goals and to hell with keeping them out.

Would surprise me if nobody is coming in. Would leave is light.

Surely if markovic isn't in the squad tonight his toast?

Clip from Gary Lineker's interview with our manager. It'll be in full on the new BBC Premier League show starting Thursday night at 10pm on BBC 2.

I hope he can work on the Geography lessons for our defenders to stand in the right flipping places on the pitch!!

Certainly looks that way if he isn't involved. Another signing who came with a bit of a fanfare which turned into a whisper.

He traveled but guess not needed tonight. Not convinced with this Milner at left back.

Great to see a swift return for Mane, we missed him big time last weekend.
