Just stunning from Sturridge.

If we kept him fit I'm damn sure we'd be back where we want to be as a club in the CL spots and challenging for the title.

Mane has been involved in 4 of the 5 goals. The guy is just really really good.

Sturridge's finish brilliant as well. Exciting to see the pair of them combine.

We need to get Mané a non-African passport so we don't lose him in January.

Matip heads one off the line. Burton pushing strongly for the last goal in this game. Playing with 10 though as Origi gone off and all our subs have been used up.

Mane still sprinting after every ball as Luis used to do. Loving our new signing.

Exactly what I wanted to see tonight, a professional, disciplined performance in which we put a team a division below us to the sword.

Onwards and upwards!

Very good performance tonight. Mane very lively again and I thought Clyne was excellent.

Also, travelling Kop were on form tonight, great atmosphere generated. I heard songs I hadn't even heard before!

Mane being interviewed on the pitch with Henderson looked like he could play another 90mins

Good attacking performance. Klopp wanted more in the box and he got it. Mane is a real handful. Sturridge still sharp where he needs to be and his celebrations have disappeared in the ether which is no bad thing!

Good nights work from the lads, and a nice booster after our last dire showing. Now on to Spurs, but what a lousy time slot we have!

Maybe the celebrations were causing his injury problems!!

Really getting to love Mane and as most know I have been an Origi fan for a while and loved their link up pre 60 minutes - then Sturridge comes on and altho for me he is maybe not quite as fluent as the others he scores two in just 30 minutes on the pitch which is typical of the guy and can't be ignored.

Dilemma = who to play Sturridge or Origi? - and i am thinking is there any way we can play them both cos those 2 + Mane would be scarily exciting and would break down most defenses.

It just seems as if most of our first choice teams have Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana in and I am not sure they need to have all 3 in. I would go with 2 or maybe even just 1 of them + Can and Gruic and maybe Lucas. We have lots of possibilities that's for sure. At present for me Hendo and Wijnaldum are not first choice material.

I think I posted a while ago about Balotelli being 3/1 to remain at Liverpool at the end of this transfer window. The other day I saw it at 6/1, and thought it was tempting since we can't seem to ship him out, so I thought "why not"?

If it loses, it means we got rid of him, if not, I win money, win-win. He's currently 7/1.

He's also 33/1 to join Man United, and...

Mario Balotelli would be welcomed at Manchester United by Jose Mourinho. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

I don't really know who they are or how reliable they are, but I'd laugh out loud if that happened.

Nice win last night; nothing spectacular, just efficient and the type of result we should be expect.

A little concerned for Danny Ings; after losing a season to injury, he must be really frustrated at seemingly being so far away from a start. I couldn't blame him if he was to make a fuss over it, but to his credit he's just getting on with it for the moment.

Also not really liking the stories about Sakho being considered for a loan-out. That to me might be an indication that Klopp doesn't have any interest left in him. Whether that's down to his ability, injury record or personality around the club I doubt we'll ever know, but it doesn't look good for him if true. Sadly I feel the same way about Flanno. We're not exactly stacked for full-backs and we've let one of our own go out while we play an attack minded CM at LB? That seems really strange to me.

With one week to go in the window I wonder if we need to move one or two out before we commit to bringing anyone else in. In Balotelli, Markovic, Ilori, Alberto, Wisdom, and possibly Sakho, there must be £250k- £300k a-week tied up in wages there.I 'm sure they'd like that tidied up a bit before committing to any more expenditure.

As for the rumour about Chinese investment: if there's any truth to it, it would be hard, maybe even foolish, to turn that kind of opportunity down. There really aren't that many people around who can put that kind of money into a football club. They could make a big difference to us and allow investment in a few really high class players without having to inflate tickets and merchandising. The details, of course, would be critically important; we know we have to be careful, Tom Hicks taught us a lesson I hope we never forget.

Finally, a nice respectful good bye message from Christian Benteke. Good luck to him, I hope he proves he's still a good player ( just not too much against us ) .

I think Ings would've got a run out last night if it weren't for Can's injury. Matip looked very accomplished - he and Lovren make a good pairing as all-round central defenders - and I can see him getting a few goals, especially with the no-holding directive.

He'd probably become world class if he went to Old Trafford knowing how the footballing gods like to crap on us

Maybe a swap deal for Ibrahimovic

Even though we have Karius, I wouldn't be against a swap for De Gea.

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet...

We're being linked with James Rodriguez. Reports are that we're interested, and Real Madrid president has commented saying Liverpool wouldn't be able to meet their financial demands. Apparently he's going for around £50m-£55m.

I don't see that happening. I'd like it to happen, I'd like to see us break our transfer record. I'd rather James Rodriguez be our most expensive signing than Andy Carroll. But spending £55m on a player doesn't seem like something we'll be doing just yet. That's ignoring the fact that we already have plenty of players in his position. So unless we're signing him to be a left-back I don't think it'd happen.

I'd want it to happen, though. Even if we already have players in his position. If a player like that becomes available then you buy, then worry about fitting him in. And it's not my job to worry about where he'd play or who'd miss out because of him, so I'd be happy with it if it did happen. I'd rather us sign him than Chelsea or Man United.

So we got Derby then - and there was me last night willing Carlisle to beat them in those penalty kicks, but no, 14-13 to Derby. Last time we played Carlisle in this they took us to pens - just please don't let that happen again!

Only just got around to watching the match in full. Mane was fantastic throughout! How dearly we missed his pace and directness against Burnley. Great to see Sturridge bang in a couple, that surely creates a (good) headache for Klopp as to who should start between him and Origi against Spurs.

I'm also now wondering if Can or even Stewart should be our starter in the holding role. Can looked a bit rusty and I'm still worried about his positional discipline, but he has to be a better option than Henderson if we're not going to go and buy someone.

The whole team seemed to be more conscious of the fact that getting to the byline and putting dangerous balls into the box is an effective way of scoring against tightly packed defences (as opposed to constantly shooting from 25-30 yards). Firmino was finding some joy getting on the end of crosses. Clyne's delivery into the box seems to have improved. Special mention for Matip who saved the clean sheet at the end with the goal line clearance.

Derby away next? Not the worst draw by any means. Nice to see Klopp taking the competition seriously with his team selection. I suppose he has that luxury this season with no European football to concern ourselves with.

It would be interesting to see how they all did playing together for sure.
totally agree about Hendo & Wij - not ahown anywhere near enough to merit a start.

Lucas should be our DCM not Hendo, Can if he was fully fit, or even Stewart possibly yes but no more Hendo in that role.

Looking forward to game v Spurs but still worry over our lack of consistency

It seems both Can and Origi will be missing v Spurs, but will be fine thereafter, so Sturridge and Lucas (is he fit now?) may well be deployed.

The rumours are rife that Klopp is pretty determined to loan out Sakho, and the inference is that Sakho is on a few warnings now over his attitude and fitness. Seeing as he's a dammed good player - those options look to be most likely correct.

I'm inclined to feel, as many in here do, that Hendo's days with us are slowly coming to an end - unless he can really pick up pre Xmas and show his best consistently, I see him being benched a lot prior to leaving.

There is still a lot of work needed from Klopp to get us a good team, but like he's said "If there is no one out there that fits, we will do without for now" - quite right too! No good going out and buying someone just because they are available, best to wait to get what you really want.

This will be Henderson's most important season. He was unfortunate last season because of his injury problems, but now he really has to step up and earn that armband. He's not irreplaceable, and he certainly isn't Steven Gerrard. It's a real make or break season for him, I don't think he can afford to be average, and that's assuming he makes it all the way to the next summer transfer window.

I've always liked Hendo, even under Dalglish, and he played well in the 13/14 season so I really want it to work out for him, but it's down to him now. If he doesn't earn his way into Klopp's future plans then I'll be disappointed, but we've let a lot better go in the past.
