Is that Rooney?

Would him being dropped mean Pogba got played in a position where he'd be more effective?

Problems and the pressure of price tags I'm glad Klopp doesn't have
Yes, it was meant to say Roon but predictive text kicked in - amended now.

We're now back to where we started on Friday in the league table, other results weren't kind to us.

When you consider our start to the season, I would have snatched someones hand off for an average of 2 points per game from that lot. I'm quite happy that we are where we are right now, our GD is the only blip that has us 6th instead of 4th - a mass of goal scoring is going on this season!

Arsenal v Chelsea next weekend, so as long as we beat Hull we should rise up a place or two.

We've got Hull at Anfield and Swansea away. We should get 6 points there, but we may well end up with 4.

Then we've got another stupid international break before we play Man United at Anfield.

So, yeah, an easy 9 points up for grabs.

The Watford one was pretty darn good

After that excellent team performance v Chelsea we have to keep that same level of performance v Hull. I'll be very disappointed after Arsenal smashed them. albeit they had a man sent off, if we can't win the game.

Here's a classic from the Chelsea thread...

Sturridge

I didn't bother wading in as it's their thread after all but given what happened last season I found it an astounding comment to make. Sturridge may want to be 100% to play but he's never downed tools or demanded to be substituted because he can't hack it.

That perplexed me too, although I disagree with a lot of what the don comes out with at times. If he'd said he wouldn't want Sturridge back because of his injury problems then I'd agree, but I really have no idea why his mentality is still being questioned, he seems mature enough thesedays.

Yes, he usually delivers and his stats don't lie. Needs a league goal to get him going this season, though.

I feel like Sturridge has been doing a rather underappreciated job so far this season. His intelligent runs have been creating all sorts of space for our dangerous midfielders to wander into.

How many changes to you think we'll see to the side at Derby tomorrow night in the League Cup?

I'm not sure I share the view that we should be making too many changes to rest players for the PL. As it's so early in a season where we're not going to have too many midweek games due to no European competition. Losing semi finalists two years ago and losing finalists last year would be a good progression to winning the competition his time out. Klopp to get a first trophy under his belt asap and break his 'curse'of finals would also be great.

I would like to see starts for Karius and Ejaria???? (Spelling) at the championship club tomorrow.

Well, my XI prediction:

Karius
Clyne - Lovren - Ragnar - Moreno
Lallana - Can - Hendo
Mané - Origi - Coutinho

This is with Sturridge and Firmino as doubts. We may start with Stewart in Can's place and Can coming on later, or Stewart might come on for Can, but I'm gonna go with Can starting.

We may see Ejaria getting some game time. If he was fit it'd be a great time to bring Ojo in, but he's not fit. Might also see Ings play, but Origi is higher up in the pecking order, so it'd be more practical to start him. We could start Origi in one of the wide places and Ings in the middle, could give Mané a rest.

Klopp has stated that he's putting out a strong team for the Derby match. I would like to see Karius in the mix, Firmino starting with Can, and Studge and a couple of young ones on the bench - but with a good chance to be used.

No chances should be taken on a possible loss.

Just watched the recorded match of our U23's beating Leicester 4-0 a week ago, they played great and Klopp being there was a huge incentive. Tonight they have just hammered Spurs 6-2 away, some of these lads are a bit good!

Ings didn't play tonight which could mean match time for him tomorrow.

Since it's not been commented on yet, the bookies have now made Liverpool second favourites behind Man City for the title. Bookies are offering between 5/1 and 6/1 for Liverpool to win. Man City look like less than evens (8/13 or 4/6) so they're considerably ahead. Next is Chelsea who are between 8/1 and 10/1.

Too soon to be declaring someone a winner, even if people were crowning Man City as soon as Guardiola was appointed, but I like the fact that the bookies have reacted in such a way.

I still think Man City will finish 1st, they're still clear favourites for me, I'm going to play it safe for now and stick to Liverpool finishing fourth.

I'd actually like to see a fair few as I'd like to see Karius, Grugic, Can, Ings, Lucas, Stewart, Ejaria(?) all have a go. Them in with some 1st teamers should not be disruptive?

I think Stewart played last night, but Ejaria didn't, so you could see him and Ings tonight (NJM ET showing), Grugic is already confirmed as playing. But I reckon all the big guns will be there just in case, Klopp will leave nothing to chance after the shock of Burnley.

On this day in 2006, Xabi Alonso scored that amazing goal from before the halfway line.

It's weird to think that Moreno, Ragnar, Lucas, Grujic and Origi are kind of our B-team, yet most could just as easily be our first team.

I'm happy with that line up. Hope we see Ejaria and Ings get some time on the pitch. Sturridge should be firing at home to Hull on the weekend after being rested tonight.

Was just going to type that Derby have contained us well in the first 20mins but our expensive new 'striker' Klavan capitalises on a defensive error to put us one up.

0-1 25mins.
