Well it's not just you (two??) this time who agree, he simply has to be better than what we have had this season.
My concern is the last bit of what you've put. No I don't expect 4 worldies but I would hope for another addition to the 3 we will have. my worry being Borini or Balo won't move on and we get no further addition. |

Tevez was 'allegedly' on our radar at one point - now that I would have been very happy with, what is happening re him now? Not heard anything.
He has always expressed that he wants to go back to Boca once his contract is finished with juve. |

Better than what we had, arguably. But good enough? Who knows?
Is our system similar to what Ings is used to at Burnley? Is he the type of player that would fit into Liverpool's system - whatever that might be now. And Milner, to go back to the last signing would get the vote over who exactly? Not sure either of these players are a good fit, let alone not marquee. It's another season like the last as far as I can see. |

To be fair Ings is only 21yrs and I hate using this word but "potentially" could become even a better player! I very much hope so, I would like to see competition for every position.
I am very pleased to see we have Milner. I am keeping very positive! |

Not to forget both players made it clear they really wanted to play for us despite having other options which is very important along with their work ethic. Hardly going backwards. |

Considering we've not spent any money yet, our first two signings are quite pleasing. We could (and have) do worse having spent money so it's not all bad.
Still a few more needed of course though, glad we're getting in early and allowing the new players time to settle in. I think Ings and Milner are excellent signings but time will tell how they work out. |

I think Burnley are looking for £8m for Ings, if it goes to a tribunal we might have to pay as much as £6m.
If we want Clyne he'll cost nearly £15m and Kovacic will be £18m to Inter. That will just about take FSG's budget to the limit. We'll need to start selling if we're going to be doing any more recruiting. Thankfully there's more than a few players that can go: Aspas, Coates, Alberto, Borini, Lambert, Balotelli, Lucas (probably), Sterling (possibly) and then there's Skrtel ( who they probably want to keep, but don't want to give him an expensive 4 year deal) |

We will have to pay something for Ings, even though he is out of contract, because of his age. A £million or two I would guess.
Quote:
The Professional Football Compensation Committee decided on 14 January 2010 that Chelsea would pay an initial fee of £3.5 million, with additional payments of £500,000 after each of 10, 20, 30 and 40 first-team competitive appearances. There would also be a further payment of £1 million if Sturridge made a full international appearance, and Manchester City in addition would receive 15 percent of any sell-on fee if Sturridge was transferred.

We said SIGNINGS.....NOT sign Ings!
I'm not too proud to admit that I laughed at that pun.

Coutinho needs movement, Lallana needs movement. Ings may not be a star but his got some raw ability and can improve at Liverpool. |

All Ings' goals have supposedly come from inside the box, and he'scored goals with his head and both feet. He's also only been subbed once (not sure if that's on or off) and has started and finished most games last season, so he doesn't seem injury-prone.
I got these stats and more from The RedmenTV. |

SAMI HYYPIA has said he would be interested in returning to Liverpool as part of Brendan Rodgers’ revamped coaching team. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/footb...rendan-Rodgers
By Paul Joyce The former Finland defender spent a decade at Anfield as a player with the 2005 Champions League triumph the highlight of a popular stay. Hyypia, 41, has moved into management since leaving Merseyside in 2009, firstly at Bayer Leverkusen and also Brighton where he resigned at the end of last year following a six-month spell. Liverpool are overhauling their backroom staff with assistant manager Colin Pascoe having been sacked and first-team coach Mike Marsh not having his contract renewed. Hyypia insists being a coach, rather than a manager, would not a problem and said he is ready to help Liverpool if required. “It would be great to work for a club which I love,” said Hyypia. “I would definitely be interested if Liverpool think I could help them. I have great memories of my time at the club. “My rise in management was rapid and I have been thinking a lot about things while I have been out. If there were no interesting opportunities as a manager, then I would be ready to be an assistant. That sort of role would give me a lot of experience. It wouldn’t be a problem for me. “I feel ready to go into football again. You look at yourself and I am enthusiastic about getting back into the game.” Rafa Benitez’s former assistant Pako Ayesteran is also interested, while former Manchester United coach and Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has also been linked. Liverpool, meanwhile, have had a £5m bid for Danny Ings rejected by Burnley, who are seeking £10m for the England Under-21s striker. A deal for Ings, 22, was announced yesterday by the Anfield club and the forward will officially join on July 1, subject to a medical, after his Burnley contract has expired. Ings is not available on a free transfer because he is under 24 and so Liverpool will seek to strike a deal with the Championship side rather than letting a transfer tribunal set a compensation figure. However, an agreement is proving difficult with both sides wide apart in their current valuations of the player. Tottenham and David Moyes’ Real Sociedad were also interested in Ings, who scored 11 Premier League goals last season, but his preference has always been Liverpool. |

Wonder when the fixture list is released. I predict we'll have the irony of Stoke away in the first game
![]() I've heard that we have requested an away game first due to the work on the Main Stand so who knows, you could be right with Stoke! |

I think this is cloud cuckoo land. As far as the owners are concerned the only people with a right to talk about "our club" are those who own it. Fans are supporters, thats all. I share your frustration with the current situation but I direct my fire towards those men who get paid huge sums of money, put on a LFC shirt and then do nothing to earn either when they are on the pitch. Owners are owners, and they do what capitalists do. But players are paid to do a job. Too many of our current lot barely turn up.
Like you I do direct my fire towards the players yes but also to those who chose them and coached them. Quote:

I do think you are not far off right in your predictions judging from snippets of what is coming out of the club and some of them I'd agree with but the lists needs some adds and subtracts!! Lovren on and Lucas and Coates off for definite and personally I have never felt Borini has been given a fair chance but I know he is almost certain to go. The other one I wonder about is Illori - is he ever going to have a chance to show what he can do. The depressing thing tho is comparing us to the top 4 from last season - it is hard to see us competing with them if the budget is as you say - and you are probably not far off. Lets forget about CFC and MCFC as they are clearly in a different league to us financially, lets look at the other 2 from the top 4 MUFC? - in their options for the front 6 last season they had Rooney, RVP, De Maria, Herrera, Mata, Felliani, Falcao and all of them cost more than any LFC player in the same positions. Now yes just cos they cost more does not mean they are better (see Falcao!!) but when every single one of their choices cost more than ours then it is hard to be optimistic of us ultimately overhauling them. AFC? - I listed some of their choices for their front 6 - in no particular order = Wilshire, Welbeck, Sanchez, Giroud, Ozil, Walcott, Rosicky, Coquelin, Ramsey, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Flamini, Podolski and even Sanoga (is that his name - lad on loan last season) and Campbell. They have 12 or more people to choose from and all are decent - that is what is called a strong squad. Yes I know maybe their defensive and keeper options are not quite so strong but they are still not bad with 2 players for every position Also it is absolutely certain both these teams will further strengthen during the summer - MUFC have already brought in Depay of course - a cheapy at a mere 21m or so!! On that note I will close - isn't it good that football is not played on paper and that on day 1 of next season we will be as optimistic as ever - or at least I will try to be. I hate the way the PL is becoming so predictable and would love it if some how the top 4 next season was not the same top 4 as this season just gone - and that it is us who break into it. We can dream can't we!! |

Before City had their mega investment then a lot of other clubs supporters said the same about the regular top 4 being Utd,Chelsea,Arsenal and ourselves.Times certainly have changed since that last season 5 years ago of Benitez being in charge when we first dropped out of the CL places. Not helped by the batshit crazy duo of dumb and dumber running the club to near administration. In this era when the tv money is reaching ridiculous levels,it is much harder to get top 4 than it was even two or three years ago. |

I think that we are a long way off being a consistent top 4 team and I can't see Anyone else breaking into the top 4 at all, let alone every season.
So I think Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd is the new 'big 4'. I honestly do believe any of them 4 could be title winners next season too so it should be an exciting season! |

Because of Spurs, you might have to face paying slightly more than you perhaps would like to for Ings-

As for 4 sides capable of winning the title. People have been saying that for years and more often than not the title race goes down to two sides at most. |
