Adam Lallana is out for a while with a groin injury so he misses the WC qualifiers.

That could be a blessing in disguise.

Hopefully he will have recovered and be fresh for the United game on Monday 17th October.
Clyne and Lovren are stayin home too, and Matip has opted out of the Africa section. Means Klopp has all his defenders for 2 weks to work with - very good news.

Loving the top of the PL just now, so tight - le't see who sneezes first!

That's how they've been winning games for years, yet you'll see their fans bleating on about other big teams getting luck all the same.

'tis a shame we didn't look this good last season really when Leicester were able to capitalise. This time around it looks like there's a few teams - City, Spurs, ourselves, Arsenal - all getting results one way or another.

Here's hoping we can send Mourinho home with a big fat L in two weeks to put a bit of distance between us and them.

Really wished we had beaten Spurs now. They'll be the flavour now for a couple of weeks now as the only unbeaten PL left

I'm a bit concerned about Karius. Mourinho will stick the height of Ibrahimovic and Pogba all over him at the set piece. It would be the same with Mignolet but that'll be an interesting selection.
Yesa few sticky moments for him, early days mind so hopefully he can improve but from the 2 corners he was poor and at the very end when he started to come changed his mind and then watched hopelessly as luckily their defender missed that sitter!
Not seen enough of him to judge yet mind.
I have been away for 3 weeks - awesome trip to Russia (where I watched the Leicester game in a pub in Moscow!!), Mongolia and for the last week China (Hull game live on TV there - kick off 10 at night) and only got back today just before the match started. Unlike many of you I was basically happy with our play and never really felt we'd ;lose - unless they had gone 2-0 up. Defensively we are a worry for sure but overall we have to be happy with the way we are playing so far and the results it has brought us. Who knows what we can achieve - as I have always said about this season I will not put a place on it - but \i think we can be fairly confident that we should be able to end up better than last season's 8th.
Blimey, you are getting about a bit lately Alan - nice.

I was far from happy with our 1st half and was hoping Klopp would get into them at half time apparently and happily he did. It was a way below par 1st half and we simply cannot afford to only paly for 45 mins against any team, think Seville final

Chalk and cheese 1st half and 2nd half performances.

Glad Lallana & Clyne not involved with England as need them fully fit for the Man Utd game.

Oh and well done Joe Allen & Christian Benteke for their weekend performances

I see Hendo got Goal of the Month at the BBC, actually romped it @ 42% of the vote, really pleased for him, about time he got some reward for the effort he's put in this season.

Sadio Mane has won the PFA Fans' Premier League Player of the Month award for August and September, some achievement seeing the quality of the opposition!

Keep it up lads!

Yes it was a great trip - Trans Siberian Railway and a week in China at the end - I love travel - but now have very little money left (from my lump sum when I retired 3 years ago) so there will be no more big trips like this for a while - sadly. But no regrets - i would sooner have no money but have had the awesome experiences I have had in the last 3 years than money in the bank - and we do have enough to live on.

You are of course right about the way we played in the first half - very few shots and none on target tells its own story plus dodgy defending and keeping - but LFC this season to me are a team who can lift their game and I felt as long as we did not go 2-0 down that in the second half after Klopp's half time team talk that we would improve which we did. I guess tho V Burnley it had happened before and so there was no guarantee we'd improve but now there seems a belief about the players plus a reluctance to accept a draw and to go for wins all the time at places like Swansea - which since the nearly season we have not really had. In the past at 1-1 we'd be happy but we went for the win - and got it.

Onwards and upwards - bring on the Mancs - we can't lose to them!!

I feel like we've now built a team where we have several players who are able to bail us out on a bad day. On Saturday, it was Firmino. On another day, it could be Coutinho, or Mane, or Lallana. It's really quite exciting that we have so many players capable of producing magic during tough times.

I've just watched a short promotional 360 degree video for Standard Chartered on a Virtual Reality headset.Presented by Barnes and Fowler it featured a very contrived and put on team talk from Klopp in the home dressing room. Along with being in the corridor above the steps onto the pitch and on the touchline at a full Anfield. It also featured Barnes talking from the Kop and the camera seemed to be positioned where I stood a few times before that end became all seater. Still got the blood stirring but not as good as being there for real

Since last season I have felt mainly positive but at times a bit negative. Why? - we sold players I would not have sold, some players I like have not played much this season and we have did go in for the very best in the transfer market - perhaps looking for low cost buys and at the time I reasoned that if we did that then we were unlikely to get up to the level all of us wanted. As things stand at the moment I think I was a bit wrong on all counts.

You see the truth was that at the end of last season we had too many players and many were not suitable for us. So there was no point keeping them all - have we been short of options this term so far? - no so that shows the squad is not too small at all. Btw most of the sales I was fine with - the main one I did not want to go was Joe Allen but really we have so many midfielders it was best for him to go for his own career's sake.

I like Can and Origi and neither have played much this season and also I would have liked to have seen Gruic and Ings have more chances but I think I and they need to be patient and in time I think they will play their parts. I think any players not sold by JK clearly figure in his plans.

Also the type of targets question - we got players from Newcastle, Southampton and foreign teams not at the really top level and I in my naivity wanted to see us sign players from top teams - but really if we got players from top teams it would only be those who could not get in their teams - and by signing such players we would be unlikely to overtake them - so well played Jurgen Klopp. as by doing it his way we got hungry, team based, talented players who want to be at LFC and fit into both his and the clubs mentality.

So it is a so far so good from me so far this season and a memo to self to trust Klopp's judgment more. The LB issue is another thing - how come we did not go for Hector and have kept Moreno and then played Milner out of position at LB. Well he has excelled in that role - for me doing far more than when in his 'normal' position and so again we have to trust JK. I also question the treatment of Sakho. - another one where he knows more and to trust him!!

So yes it is not wrong to ask questions about things at the club as I have done but at the end of the day it could even be that Klopp knows more about what is needed than I do - and so far we are not doing too bad are we - and the team spirit seems great too which is very important.

Onwards and upwards and all that

Good to see Joe Allen flourishing. Hope he turns it down to 3 when we play Stoke.

From FB:

Wayne Rooney dropped by England for tomorrow's game. Henderson will be England captain. #ENG

Lol I said I think Henderson would be next captain months ago. I said it because I thought it'd be something Roy would do. He favoured Liverpool players, England's lacking in leaders at the moment and he's Liverpool captain.

As it happens he's probably earned it now, rather than being given it because he's Liverpool captain. And the fact is there are no alternatives. There's Joe Hart and Gary Cahill but neither are in great form right now, and Joe Hart might not be first-choice goalkeeper for much longer.

If only I had put money on it.

Decent little article in the Telegraph about Henderson - HERE. I reckon he should be the obvious one to take over from Rooney, at 26 he's about the right age, with the right experience to carry it off.

Looks like we are about to offer Coutinho a new contract in a bid to keep him out of the possible clutches of PSG and Barca. One to keep an eye on!

Seems Klopp is keeping the players left at home this break up to scratch. A friendly was played v Bradford, we won 5-0, and Ings got a brace. Looks like he's scored 10 to 11 goals so far this season in varying matches - time he got a look at our bench, and Origi took his place to sharpen up a bit. From the matches I have watched with Ings, he's looking very, very sharp now!
