Can moving away from Pogba and Ibrahimovic closing him down and it's paying dividends as Coutinho is moving wider.
First attempt on target is a Firminho header straight at De Gea. Herrera getting wound up, let's get our faster players running at him. |

Well, we need to seriously improve in the second half.
Apart from maybe one short spell at about 30 odd minutes, we have been second best. Hopefully Klopp can inspire us to do a lot better in the second half, otherwise we are looking at a draw or a defeat. |

0-0 at the break and I'd take a point now on the balance of play.
Neville on Sky and Savage on Five Live going a little OTT though. Utd have realistically created as little as we have in the first 45mins, They bossed midfield for 35mins of the opening 45 but haven't had much on target. Can looks a bit off the pace and they have benefitted in closing him down. Would like to see Origi on , possibly for Firminho around the 65min mark. |

Could see Lallana coming on for Sturridge at some point. Klopp may switch to the front 3 that's served him so well so far.

Jose blueprint. Slow the game down, be organised and don't over-commit. The final piece of the jigsaw is nick a goal as we get frustrated and push for a breakthrough - let's hope that plan goes awry in the 2nd half.
Our quality needs to improve. Sturridge needs to wake up and start moving their defenders about. Let's get ahead a change the dynamics of this game - 3 yards or 30 yards, I don't mind... |

Mignolet on the bench thinking, "god, is this what it's like watching me play?!"

Much better from Can as he forces a fine save from De Gea.
Lallana off for Sturridge. |

He could then have his one bad game in about 100 when we play them in the 2018 CL Final.

Origi on for Firminho
Moreno for could be a gamble but looks like it's for injury 86mins. |

0-0 and I'll take that. First point against Utd in the league for a couple of years, didn't play well but thankfully a run of less high profile fixtures to come before Everton and City at home before the end of the year.
Yes Karius looked nervy but no worse than Mig overall. Possibly needs the confidence of a big save off a penalty or close range shot as he develops into a stopper who commands his penalty area. |

Disappointing game. We allowed Mourinho's somewhat negative tactics to stifle us and we played well below our best.
Oh well, at least we didn't lose. After recent results against Man United, I'll take a point and try to be happy. Actually, I am very happy. I have had a wonderful day for non footballing reasons and I am still on a high.

Overall, a draw is probably a fair result, though it was certainly there for snatching. If De Gea had been replaced by literally any other goalkeeper in the world, and we probably would've.

Did we really have 65% possession?
Didn't feel like it. Man United at 35% is the lowest since Opta began. We slaughtered them on Stats. ![]() PS: Was it Shanks who said " We murdered them 0 - 0' about a long ago game. Against Derby I think but I may be wrong. |

Ah well. Three points would've been nice. But Mourinho...uh...Mourinhoed us. Sturridge was made ineffective because we couldn't get the ball to him. They pressed us, were compact in their half and just did not let us play our game.
They were tight and we couldn't break them down. We needed a lucky goal, world class pass (and well received) or a good long-range goal. When you're relying on that they've done well. We could have had such a goal, actually, but De Gea got in the way. I said they'd be happy with a point away from home, and they got that. |
