Glad we got through that, gives the squad a chance for some more competitive football.

Fairly comfortable in the end too, despite the late goal.

Was easy in truth until the last 15 when Jon Moss gifted them a way back into it. Least it made things interesting, I guess.

Great to see Sturridge bag 2,(even if he could have had 4/5!), and the most surprising thing was him showing a yard of pace tonight that we haven't seen in a long time. I'd have to give my own personal MOTM to Wijnaldum who got through so much work in midfield and always looked so comfortable in possession.

Onto the quarters we go and I'm gonna call another return to Anfield for Rafa. Still makes me happy to see him doing well.

Happy enough with that, although a but disappointed to not get a clean sheet. Was a pen we conceded though so the defence weren't too bad overall.

Moreno's challenge looked far more a penalty than Lucas which was given did.

Few people thinking that will happen. Would love to face them at some point, its a fixture I miss.

Can't turn our noses up at a quarter final and a win over Spurs.

On to Palace...

Tonight's crowd of 53,051 is a record attendance for a League Cup game at Anfield #LIVTOT

I'm glad 53k people didn't lose interest in the game based on who did and didn't play..

Enjoyed it! The scoreline flattered Spurs. Feel we have a stronger squad than last year. Not as good as the first XI but playing to the same template which is encouraging. You just know Benteke wouldn't have scored Sturridge's one on one.

What should the score have been: 6-2? 7-3? I would have lived to see Ings or Origi on the score sheet.

I was surprised at the team tonight, but with us at the top end of the league, I guess JK is wanting to ensure he has most of his first eleven fresh for the PL as often as possible. It was good to see some of the younger guys out at Anfield, and I thought they all did quite well. It ask helps in providing depth and competition to the squad.

Sturridge fighting for his LFC career perhaps? Nice to see him score a brace and be generally quite influential. A PL goal will hopefully get him going properly.

Funny how many different opinions there are on motm - mine was Lucas for what it's worth.

Enjoyed it. Successful night. Rested a few. Saw some fringe players play. Got through to the next round. Knocked out a top team. Played pretty well. What's not to be happy over!!

As well as Lucas I felt Origi did well as did Mignolet (I'd have him over Karius tbh but its hard to drop Karius so soon and we need to persevere with him but today showed we have a good other option as I think being left out has focussed Mignolet).

The 2 lads who I had not seen - Alexander and Ejaria - showed that in time they could be first teamers, Stewart was a good safe pair of hands in MF and of course Sturridge will get all the head lines and rightly so altho of course he also missed a few as well as scoring 2.

I like Klavan as his attitude is exactly how it should be - which you would expect for a 100+ capped player and he did a lot of good things but I think he is a bit vulnerable too and for sure Lovren and Matip are our best CB pairing - today made me sure of that. Moreno did a lot right and you can certainly never question his enthusiasm but also some of his usual daftness surfaced - fouls in key places including given the ref a penalty decision to make which could have gone against us, gung ho attacking near the end when we were just 2-1 up. Grujic was quite good too seeing as he has hardly featured and I am sure he could do a job in the first team if necessary but for me he did not do enough to convince me that time is now.

If that post was on FB I would have liked it - some of the stuff from our so called fans in the last couple of pages has been totally out of order

As far as QF ties go, this is about as "easy" as it can get.

That said, let's avoid slipping on a banana skin. There's a real chance of silverware for us here.

The rest of the draw is good too Man U and Arsenal not a walk over at all, but then again neither will ours no doubt

But I'll settle for that.

How many tickets are we likely to get on our boards it says Carlisle got 9k let season are we likely to get thst or will Merseyside police yet again limit our allocation
As for gsme itself right now we couldn't of got a tougher away draw IMHO we got couple of players in Hernandaz & Liam Bridcutt who is currently injured but other than that noting to suggest we can get our first win at Anfield since a eufa cup tie in 1972 unfortunately we don't have a Viduka orc Yeboah any more
Thanks

I've heard it's supposed to be 10% for league cup ties. Spurs only got 3000 though I think?

Either way it's going to be a bun fight to get tickets. I've only got gold membership with 3 aways this season so not even sure if I'll get one or what loyalty scheme it will be. Be great if we could get the whole anfield road end. We'd definitely fill it

I don't think so somehow, I reckon Klopp is willing to work more on getting him back up to speed, I doubt he would want any of our rivals to get him!
